UK-Canadian visual effects studio Cinesite has made its first move into Asia by acquiring a majority stake in Assemblage, a CGI animation studio based in Mumbai, India.
Assemblage will continue to service its clients independently under founder Ak Madhavan and CEO Arjun Madhavan.
It was founded in 2013 and provides 3D animation and visual effects services to major Hollywood studios and independent companies across the globe. Credits include Lionsgate’s Norm Of The North, Netflix’s Trollhunters and Disney’s Miraculous Ladybug.

Under the terms of the deal, Assemblage will continue to service its global clientele independently under the management of founder Ak Madhavan and CEO Arjun Madhavan.
Founded in 2013 by Madhavan, affectionately known in the industry as Madmax, Assemblage has worked on wide range of US studio and independent films and series, including Disney’s Miraculous Ladybug, Sony’s Swan Princess, Lionsgate’s Norm Of The North, Entertainment Studios’ Artic Dogs and France TV’s Enchanted Village Of Pinocchio.

Byron Allen’s distribution label Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures has picked up U.S. rights to Arctic Dogs, the animated film featuring the voices of Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin and Angelica Huston.
The movie, formerly known as Arctic Justice, was previously on the slate of Open Road, which filed for bankruptcy in September. Esmp struck a deal for the film at last month’s American Film Market, and the pic is being lined up for a wide theatrical release on more than 3,500 screens in 2019.
Arctic Dogs tells the story of Swifty (Renner), an Arctic fox who stumbles upon a dark scheme to melt the Arctic. He teams with his ragtag group of friends to try and save the day. Byron Allen’s theatrical arm Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures acquired the U.S. rights to animated feature “Arctic Dogs,” the company announced Monday.
The film, previously titled “Arctic Justice,” was picked up by Entertainment Studios at the American Film Market and will be scheduled for wide theatrical release on over 3,500 screens in 2019.
“Arctic Dogs” was written by Cal Brunker and Bob Barlen. It was was produced by Monika Bacardi and Andrea Iervolino, and executive produced by Byron Allen, Jennifer Lucas, Carolyn Folks, A.K. Madhavan, Danielle Maloni, and Francesca Silvani. Giovanni Cova is co-executive producer.
