Shows like CSI and NCIS are ripe for parody, as this clip proves pretty much on its own. The challenge, for web comedians who wish to poke fun at those series, is to create a series that goes beyond camera enhancement jokes and David Caruso one-liners. Crime Scene achieves that goal by combining a satire of CBS' crime serials with sly commentary about the actors who perform in those shows.
Episodes of Crime Scene move back-and-forth between parodies of typical crime show scenarios and in-studio scenes where the cast and crew interact with each other. There are plenty of gags about ridiculous TV hacking and overtly sexual dead bodies, but there is also a welcome amount of conflict, as the actors struggle to obtain better roles, promote strong female characters, or make a simple human connection. A strong cast that includes Upright Citizen's Brigade performer Livia Scot and YouTube content...

Paul Gale is celebrating International Women’s Day with an amusing yet poignant take on the highly-debated topic of women’s wages. The YouTube comedian with over 74,000 subscribers on his channel created a spoof commercial introducing “Amazon Prime for Women.”
Gale’s fake Amazon commercial features a spokesperson (played by Lauren Ireland) detailing the “benefits” of the company’s new female-centric service. The spokeswoman notes “Amazon Prime for Women” was developed after the company realized some of its customers (i.e. men) can afford more than others. The service offers women 78% of items (which are literally ripped or cut apart) at 78% of the regular price, to reflect what women are paid in America compared to men.
Gale told Tubefilter he thought of the “Amazon Prime for Women” concept on February 28. Within only a few days’ time, the comedian wrote the script, consulted with his female friends, and brought Ireland on board.

Over the past month, content creators have flocked to the YouTube production spaces in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, and London, where Legendary Entertainment provided sets from the upcoming film Crimson Peak as settings for Halloween-themed videos. Throughout the month of October, the results of this "YouTube Space House of Horrors" program have been released across YouTube. House of Horrors is more than just a fun cross-promotion. It's also a contest through which Crimson Peak director will sit down for a rough-cut consultation with one creator from each region. Ultimately, one creator will earn a development deal with Legendary. A pair of former Internet Icon contestants have emerged as two of the frontrunners. The Brothers Riedell directed Dinner, a fun horror short featuring Olga Kay. Lana McKissack, on the other hand, has offered a darker option with The Passing, which doubles as a walkthrough of the haunted house set. Other...

It never fails. You go to Starbucks. You order your tall red eye with a shot of sugar-free cinnamon dolce. They ask your name so they can write it on the cup. You tell them it's Rachel. You get your order at the counter. You read the name on the cup and it says: "Ruachell." What?! How did they even manage to go from what you said to that spelling monstrosity?! Well John Purcell and the folks at Paul Gale Comedy have made a video explaining why Starbucks baristas almost always misspell your name. And it's just what we feared: "I am f--king with you. It is the best part of my job, and I will never stop." Yes, this video is a parody and not an...

On the heels of the 39th edition of the Toronto Int. Film Festival (Sept 4-14), Ifp’s Independent Film Week is where a plethora of fiction, non-fiction and new this year, web-based series from the likes of Desiree Akhavan and Calvin Reeder find future coin. Sectioned off as projects at the very beginning of financing to those that are nearing completion, there happens to be tons of Sundance alumni in the names below. Among those that caught our attention we have Medicine for Melancholy‘s Barry Jenkins’ sophomore feature, produced by Bad Milo!‘s Adele Romanski, Moonlight is about “two Miami boys navigate the temptations of the drug trade and their burgeoning sexuality in this triptych drama about black queer youth”. Concussion‘s Stacie Passon digs into the thriller genre with Strange Things Started Happening. Produced by vet Mary Jane Skalski (Mysterious Skin), this is about “a woman who has...

A few years ago many indie creators professed web series would replace short films as the leading entree to a career in film and television, because series can attract fans. That hasn't happened, mostly because film festivals, despite recent interest in web TV, prefer shorts to series, and shorts still attract investors and distributors. This month Tj Misny bridges the divide at the Brooklyn Film Festival, where his series of three short films, Intimate Semaphores, screened last week to a sold out crowd. (It screens again Friday at 10:30Pm for all those interested.) Misny is best known as the director and photographer of some of New York's best indie television. He directed Broad City's second web finale, its most popular episode featuring Kristen Schaal and Amy Poehler, who went on to executive produce the critically lauded Comedy Central series. He directed the first season finale of I Hate Being Single,...

According to a recent report at Paul Gale Network (who leaked PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale before anyone else), Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is in the works for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Ps Vita, and Nintendo Wii.
The report states that the upcoming 3Ds Castlevania: Mirror of Fate has been in development for a year and a half, and was originally planed as a Wii U title as well, wherein the tablet controller would act as the 3Ds' bottom screen, while the TV would act as the top. This idea was nixed, however, in favor of the safer sounding Lords of Shadow 2, though the Wii U version of that may incorporate some of the concepts from the canceled Wii U Mirror of Fate including some potential 3Ds connectivity.
Mirror of Fate is confirmed as a 2D Castlevania adventure starring two different characters ala Portrait of Ruin, with options for co-op play.

According to the Paul Gale Network, Sony are working on a surprise PlayStation 3 game. While the site has refused to give away the game’s title, developer, publisher, or even how they found out this information, the concept of what they are suggesting is certainly mouth-watering. Ready for it?
Sony are working on a fighting game in the style of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros!
For the uninitiated (shame on you), Smash Bros is a 2D beat-’em-up featuring the most popular characters from the Nintendo universe, who then slug it out among themselves. In Sony’s version, we can apparently expect colourful characters such as Kratos, Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake, Fat Princess, Parappa, Sweet Tooth, and Killzone’s Rico. Some of the stages are said to include Misty Island from Jak & Daxter and a Little Big Planet-style stage which is littered with weird and wonderful objects.
