Lsg and Mi have quality spin bowlers in their ranks and all eyes will be on the veteran Mi spinner Piyush Chawla. Chawla – who was sitting in the Star Sports Studio as an expert – showed his hunger for taking wickets and feasted on opposition batters.

Chennai, May 14 (Ians) Former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan feels that the Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) management needs to think over the future of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell in the franchise, especially with the duo not performing at their best consistently.
In Ipl 2023, off-spinner Narine has picked only seven wickets in 12 matches, at an economy rate of 8.50, which is the worst for him in an Ipl season, apart from falling returns with the bat, resulting in him not being a pinch-hitting opening option anymore.
Russell, meanwhile, has scored only 218 runs in 12 innings at a strike-rate of 150.34. He has taken only seven wickets in 12 matches, at an economy rate of 11.29, the worst for him in participating in the tournament, apart from carrying constant concerns over his bowling fitness.
“We should see how Narine and Russell have performed in the last three years, or how many match-winning performances they have put in with bat or ball.

New Delhi, Feb 19 (Ians) Former India opener Gautam Gambhir, who is currently a part of the Border-Gavaskar Commentary panel, on Sunday revealed that Rohit Sharma was the only captain who troubled him the most in the Indian Premier League (Ipl).
During the commentary stint in the second Test between India and Australia on Sunday, Gambhir was asked to pick any two players that he would have wanted in his Kkr squad at the time.
“It’s a difficult question, but the answer is very simple. If I have to pick two players, I have an easy answer. My first player would be Rohit Sharma, and the second would be Yuvraj Singh. I didn’t need any other player apart from these two. I’m not saying we would be having a perfect team, but we would’ve won more than two titles (if we had these two players),” Gambhir told Star Sports.

Dubai, Dec 20 (Ians) A recent change in recruitment rules has paved the way for the International League T20 (ILT20) franchisees to recruit more players and the Dubai Capitals used the opportunity to rope in former India World Cup winners Rohin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan for the inaugural edition of UAE’s T20 league.
Pathan, who retired from international cricket and also the Indian Premier League in February 2021, was included in the squad as per the rule change.

A confused Board, an even more out-of-sync coaching support staff, a selection committee which doesn’t know what to do (it has since been kicked out), an ageing lineup with 35-year-olds trying to keep pace with the dynamic changes in white ball cricket and, despite its availability, a diverse gene pool not being given adequate opportunities, and an ecosystem that encourages hyperbole covering up warts are responsible for the dismal state of affairs.
Innumerable experiments, chopping and changing players, keeping them on tenterhooks, have together accentuated this decline. Moreover, bowlers who are capable of delivering with the jagged edge of a katana and wakizashi, such as Kuldeep Yadav and Umran Malik, have been kept sheathed.
In this theatre of the absurd, also known as the strange world of Indian cricket, there is only disorder and chaos. In two successive T20 World Cups over two years all these failings have shown up.

Jaipur, Oct 5 (Ians) India Capitals were crowned the champions of the Legends League Cricket (LLC), which was being held in India for the first time.
In an entertaining final, played at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium here on Wednesday, the Capitals beat Bhilwara Kings by 104 runs to lift the trophy.
The Capitals, captained by Gautam Gambhir, made an excellent recovery after stumbling early to post 211/7 in 20 overs. The Kings crumbled under pressure of the tall target and were all out for just 107 in 18.2 overs.
While Ross Taylor (82 off 41 balls) and Mitchell Johnson (62 off 35 balls) were the architects of the Capitals’ innings, sharing a 126-run stand for the fifth wicket, the Kings did not manage to get any meaningful partnership from their batters.
The Kings’ openers, Morne van Wyk (5) and William Porterfield (12), were out inside the first four overs. A lot depended on the broad shoulders of Yusuf Pathan (6), but he did not last long.

Jodhpur, Oct 4 (Ians) While the on-going Legends League Cricket continues to spellbound fans by rolling back the clock with the cricketing greats in action, former India batsman Mohammad kaif stunned the fans by showcasing the glimpses of his old self, attacking the opposition bowling attack in style.
During the match between Manipal Tigers and India Capitals, Kaif walked down the pitch to hammer the bowlers. This quickly reminded fans of him batting during India’s tour of Pakistan in 2004 when kaif irked Shoaib Akhter with a similar batting approach.
Kaif was brilliant in that Odi series which India won by 3-2. His series-levelling unbeaten knock of 71 in the fourth match is still fresh in fans’ hearts.
Kaif also revisited the memories when he later took to Twitter and posted a video of both the events.
“Walking is good for health!! #never stop walking. Allahabad wale cricket aise hi khelte hain.

Cuttack, Sep 27 (Ians) Gujarat Giants had stalwarts Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle in their batting arsenal, yet Bhilwara Kings outshone them with a royal batting display in the 9th game of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the Barabati Stadium on Tuesday.
A collective effort with the bat saw the Kings tear apart the Giants’ bowling attack to post 222/4. Then their bowlers backed up the batters’ effort by keeping a tight leash on the Giants’ powerful batting line-up. The Giants were all out for 165 to give the Kings a 57-run victory.
With this win, the Kings, who lost narrowly to Manipal Tigers on Monday, now have five points, the same as the Giants and India Capitals.
The tough chase never took off for the Giants as they kept losing key wickets. The in-form Kevin O’Brien was out in the second over, which saw captain Sehwag join ‘Universe Boss’ Gayle at the crease.

Raipur, Sep 27 (Ians) India Legends will take on Australia Legends in the first semifinal of the Road Safety World Series T20 tournament at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday.
India and Australia cricket rivalry is one of the most sought-after contests on the cricket pitch and fans were waiting for an India-Australia showdown in the ongoing tournament with bated breaths.
The Sachin Tendulkar-led India Legends — who are also the defending champions — have been a tad unlucky this season as three of their five games ended in no result due to incessant rain. However, the two matches which the Men in Blue won were one-sided and the team will take confidence from the superlative performances against South Africa and England Legends.
Captain Tendulkar turned the clock back with his knock in Dehradun against England. Stuart Binny, Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, and Yuvraj Singh also exploded...

Cuttack, Sep 26 (Ians) After losing their last match against India Capitals, Gujarat Giants will be looking to make amends and a strong comeback in the Sky247.net Legends League Cricket (LLC) when they take on Bhilwara Kings at the Barabati Stadium on Tuesday.
Gujarat Giants will be hugely relying on Tillakaratne Dilshan to do the job for them. In his heydays, Dilshan was known for his aggressive batting style, technique and timing. All that mastery was on show on Sunday when he hit an unbeaten 75 off 59 balls against India Capitals.
The former Sri Lanka stalwart, who captained the Giants in place of Virender Sehwag, treated and thrilled the fans with beautiful shots all around the park, giving the bowlers no respite. Eventually, though, his terrific knock went in vain.
Dilshan, though, will hope to continue in the same form on Tuesday. But it won’t be easy.

New Delhi, Sep 23 (Ians) The final of Legends League Cricket (LLC) will be held at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack October 5, the organisers annonced on Friday.
Legendary cricketers described the League as “serious” business where the superstars, many of whom are as efficient as they were in their prime, do not yield an inch without a fight.
While former India batter Mohammed Kaif covered a lot of ground near the fence before taking a diving catch and made the fans nostalgic about his brilliant fielding skills, the swashbuckler Yusuf Pathan has been playing as if he has never retired. Stars like Kevin O’Brien and Ashley Nurse have also hit scintillating centuries.
All this has generated a tremendous response from the fans, said Raman Raheja, the Co-Founder and CEO of Legends League Cricket.
“We have received a tremendous response both from the in-stadium audience and TV ratings. We have got the...

Dehradun, Sep 22 (Ians) In match number 14 of the Road Safety World Series 2022, India Legends will take on England Legends here at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on September 22.
It will be the first match for Sachin Tendulkar-led side in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun. The first match of the Dehradun leg between New Zealand Legends and West Indies Legends was called-off without a ball being bowled due to rain on September 21.
India Legends’ previous match in the league stage against New Zealand was abandoned in Indore due to a wet outfield on September 19. Only 5.5 overs of the first innings in that game at Holkar Stadium were possible before the skies opened up, making the outfield damp and unfit for play.
Sachin Tendulkar-led side, which landed in Dehradun on September 20, will be eager to get on the pitch and play a complete game as two of their first three games have become a victim of rain.
