Chicago – Warner Brothers has been unleashing catalog titles on Blu-ray at a rate that would strain the bank account of pro athletes. Every week lately sees a wave of movies that have never been on Blu-ray before joining the HD revolution. This quartet is particularly varied with one timeless classic, an underrated performance from an underrated actor, and two moderate action movies. Pick your favorite. My order of preference is as follows:
Mean Streets
“Mean Streets”
Rating: 5.0/5.0
Martin Scorsese’s breakthrough film is easily the best flick in this collection, one that actually makes my top 100 of all time. And it has lost None of its power in the four decades since it was first released. With one of Robert De Niro’s best performances, a confident style that announced the presence of one of cinema’s best directors, and a perfect HD transfer, “Mean Streets” is a must-own.

Alcatraz is a procedural built on the unstable grounds of a conspiracy. The show boasts an interesting premise, and an engaging cast. It also hints at the possibility of good writing, but the show is shrouded in so much mystery it is hard to tell if the show will properly pay-off what it seems to be setting up. In many ways, reviewing Alcatraz is like judging how sea-worthy a ship anchored in San Francisco harbour is, while the ship is obscured by a bank of fog.
The premise of Alcatraz is that the official history of the prison is a lie. The official history says that the then Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy...

This evening I’ve been handed a brand new clip from the 20th Century Fox family comedy Aliens in the Attic and I’m not sure if it’s my childish sense of humour or not, but it’s had me in stitches!
In the film, which was previously know as “They Came From Upstairs”, Kids on a family vacation must fight off an attack by knee-high alien invaders with world-destroying ambitions — while the youngsters’ parents remain clueless about the battle. The film stars Robert Hoffman, Ashley Tisdale, Carter Jenkins, Henri Young, Regan Young, and Austin Butler and invades UK theatres on 7th August 2009.
The clip features Nana (Doris Roberts - “Everybody Loves Raymond”) under the influence of alien mind-control technology. The result is that Nana becomes a fighting machine who could give Bruce Lee a run for his money, and it’s definitely worth a watch! Check it out...

The Pearson family think they have got the ultimate family vacation as they head to their vacation home in Maine. However, soon after arriving to the house, they discover that they are not the only people staying in it since a friendly alien has found the house first. Though the alien is friendly, his friends aren't and they are ready to invade the house. Now, the kids have to gear up and defend their house with everything they have.
The time when one of the Pearson kids meets the friendly alien, the streaming in of the nasty aliens, and the battle preparation from the kids' part can be viewed through the newly-released trailer of "They Came from Upstairs", which is posted exclusively by MTV. Relatively short, the video footage still helps to deliver what the movie is all about and teases out Ashley Tisdale's performance as Bethany Pearson.
