Will Horton from Days of Our Lives is perhaps one of the best-known LGBTQ characters in the soap opera world. His storylines have been celebrated as positive representation for LGBT people, whose stories are still lacking on the big and small screens.
For many years, 32-year-old actor Chandler Massey has portrayed Will. Some fans are curious about whether Massey is also gay in real life.

Happy New Year, Salem!
As Days of Our Lives enters the last week of 2020, Salemites all prepare to ring in a brand new year.
Thanks to the time jump, Salem seems to have skipped the entire Covid-19 pandemic, but that doesn't mean the new year will not be filled with heartbreaking drama.
According to the spoiler video, there will be plenty of terror and people coming undone as 2020 2021 comes to an end.
The most exciting clip features Anna warning Abigail that Gwen is obsessed with ruining her family.
Finally, there is some movement in this ridiculous storyline. Abigail, Jack, and Jennifer should have used their investigative reporting skills to figure this out a long time ago, but better late than never.
Jack appears to be literally piecing together clues after Anna's reveal, so hopefully, Gwen will soon be unmasked and on her way either to jail or to hide somewhere out of town.

Deadline reported on Monday, August 24, that “Days of Our Lives” will be getting one familiar face back on the airwaves: Alison Sweeney will be making a comeback to her iconic role as Sami Brady. So that’s one silver lining at least to the cloud of cast members whose ousters have been announced over the course of the year.
She’ll start appearing in late 2020 and will stick around for most of 2021. She originally joined the cast of the NBC soap opera in 1993 when Sami, the daughter of classic characters Roman Brady and Marlena Evans, was aged into her teenage years. After years as a troublemaker on the show she evolved into a heroine and a mother in her own right. Her on-screen son Will Horton (Chandler Massey) became one of the most prominent and long-running gay characters in daytime history.

Viewers will be seeing more of Sami Brady on NBC’s Days Of Our Lives. Alison Sweeney is set to reprise her role as the fan-favorite troublemaker when the show resumes taping next month, producer Corday Productions revealed to Deadline.
Since she left Days Of Our Lives as a full-time cast member in 2014 after 21 years, Sweeney has been coming back for a short arc every year since 2017. She filmed her most recent one before the coronavirus-related production shutdown; it started airing in mid-July and will wrap in late September.
Under the new deal, she will appear in fresh Days Of Our Lives episodes, beginning in late 2020, though most of 2021. She will be a part of an emotional storyline centered around family and Sami’s recently SORASed daughter Allie Horton, played by Lindsay Arnold.

Days of Our Lives will be short another cast member when it returns to production on September 1.
The long-running soap had already announced that Galen Gering (Rafe), Freddie Smith (Sonny), and Chandler Massey (Will) were all set to exit.
But nobody guessed that Kristian Alfonso (Hope) would be joining them.
The actress explained in a statement to Deadline that she was going to begin writing the next chapter of her life and that she had already filmed her final scenes before the series went on hiatus for the pandemic.
Since Days of Our Lives was filming six to eight months ahead of schedule before the break, her final scenes will likely air sometime this fall or winter.
While it's not clear whose choice it was for Alfonso to leave Days of Our Lives, she seems happy and excited about whatever comes next.
But fans will certainly miss her!

Who were the best LGBTQ couples in daytime soap opera history? The sad truth is that there aren’t that many to choose from. Despite the shows dipping their toes in the water with queer characters and storylines in the 1990s — like Ryan Phillippe as groundbreaking gay teen Billy Douglas on “One Life to Live” from 1992 to 1993 — the show shied away from romance for its queer characters until the 21st century. When Days of Our Lives Season 56 gets underway, there will be some big changes.
As previously reported, Freddie Smith and Chandler Massey, who play Sonny and Will, have been let go from the NBC sudser.
Now, another fan-favorite has confirmed they have been fired.
Galen Gering, who has played Rafe Hernandez since 2008, revealed on social media that his time on the soap has come to an end.
Gering's announcement came on his birthday, and the actor opened up about not continuing with the series.
"I’ve always seen birthdays as a day of reflection, an opportunity to look back at where I’ve been and where I’m going. So, it’s oddly befitting that today also happens to be my last day at Days,” Gering wrote in his Instagram post.
“Man…I have such great memories from the last 10 years,” he continued.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the tenures of cast members on daytime drama The Days of Our Lives.
Galen Gering is the latest regular to depart the long-running series, announcing on Instagram that today was his final on the set. He will still be seen on the show through the fall, though, as the series tapes way in advance and has months of episodes featuring Gering yet to run. Gering plays Rafe Hernandez on the show, joining the cast in October 2008.
Two other “Days” cast members, Freddie Smith and Chandler Massey, announced earlier this week that they were leaving the show – or rather, the show left them, as Smith indicated they were not voluntarily exiting.
Days of our Lives was recently renewed for Season 56.

“Chandler and I were released from our contracts, so we will not be filming any more episode after this week,” said “Days of Our Lives” actor Freddie Smith on his YouTube channel on February 12 (watch above). He and Chandler Massey — both Daytime Emmy winners for their roles as groundbreaking gay supercouple Sonny Kiriakis and Will Horton, respectively — have been fired from the show and will last be seen on the show in September since the show films so far in advance of its air dates.

Greg Rikaart is best known for his Daytime Emmy-winning role as Kevin Fisher on “The Young and the Restless,” but in 2018 he took a detour to “Days of Our Lives,” where he played con artist Leo Stark for a year. The television academy clearly liked that performance too since they gave Rikaart his seventh career nomination for it. Now if he wins Best Supporting Actor he’ll be the first to take this category for playing a gay role. And he’d be the first openly gay soap actor to win any category for a gay role.
But whether he wins depends on what the blue ribbon panel thought of his reel. These awards are unique in that they are decided by judges voting on sample performance reels from each actor. Read on for our complete scoop on Rikaart’s submission.

Greg Rikaart is no stranger to the Daytime Emmys. He earned five Best Supporting Actor nominations for his role as Kevin Fisher on “The Young and the Restless”, winning on his very first try. He also earned a nomination for Best New Approaches–Daytime Entertainment as part of the cast of the online series “Imaginary Bitches.” But Rikaart could make history if he wins for his new role on “Days of Our Lives.” He would be the first to win Best Supporting Actor for a gay role. And he would be the first openly gay actor to win for a gay role in any category.
