Buying your first home can be daunting to say the least. In addition to worrying about how much your new home is going to cost, you also wonder what your new neighbors will be like and if your kids will be able to make friends in the neighborhood. You might also want to make sure your new house doesn’t have a bizarre, murderous history, just to be safe.
These are some of the things Adam, played by Ryan Hansen, and Margo, played by Melissa Tang (The Kominsky Method), are faced with when they move into their first home in the horror comedy Who Invited Them. Written and directed by Duncan Birmingham in his feature film debut, Who Invited Them agilely alternates between being unnerving and hilarious, thanks to witty writing and a remarkably entertaining cast.

With September just days away, this week is a bit of a “quiet before the storm” sort of week, as a ton of new horror releases are coming hot and heavy in the next two months.
This week, however, is relatively quiet, but that doesn’t mean we’re not getting any new horror this week. In fact, we’re getting Five brand new horror movies in the coming days.
That includes a brand new original from the Bd-powered Screambox, not to mention the theatrical re-release of a horror classic…. in Three Dimensions for the first time.
Here’s all the new horror arriving August 30 – September 4, 2022!
First up, Bloody Disgusting is excited to debut the brand new Screambox Original PussyCake, a gore-fest from Argentina that’s now streaming exclusively on Screambox!
PussyCake is also available for 4.99 rental on VOD outlets today.

I have often written, here at Eye For Film, about the danger of moving house in a horror film, and viewers at Frightfest, where this film screened, will no doubt become especially wary when they learn that the house it features was bought well below market value. The reason for that is something which Adam (Ryan Hansen) has kept secret from Margo (Melissa Tang), who is naturally more inclined to be superstitious; but the problem they have to deal with as this story takes shape is very much of the real world variety.
Margo doesn’t really feel ready for a housewarming party, but she recognises that it’s important to Adam’s work. He needs to take the opportunity to suck up to his boss, even if she finds it disgusting to watch. It also gives him a chance to show off his treasured vinyl collection. She mingles and does her best.

The SAG Awards: when you're here, you're family. Amid all the onscreen and real-life family members in attendance on Feb. 27, Emily Osment and Haley Joel Osment made a heartwarming appearance that reminded viewers they are indeed siblings.
Not only that, but the Osments are also costars and respectively portray Theresa and Robby on "The Kominsky Method," which was nominated for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. In addition to striking silly poses together, the two also posed on the red carpet with their other costars, including Paul Reiser, Sarah Baker, and Melissa Tang.
It's been a few years since Emily and Haley Joel's last, big joint appearance, which was at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala in 2016. See photos from their most recent outing ahead.

Six months after debuting its final season, Netflix’s “The Kominsky Method” has just revealed to Gold Derby the names of the 12 cast members who are eligible for the ensemble prize at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Two-time SAG Award winner Michael Douglas is joined by former nominees including Paul Reiser and Sarah Baker, plus new addition Kathleen Turner. See the alphabetical list below.
“The Kominsky Method” has a strong track record at the SAG Awards. Its first two seasons both earned three nominations for ensemble, Douglas and Alan Arkin. Arkin departed the series before the final installment, so he will not be eligible. Gold Derby anticipates the series is competitive to hold onto its other two nominations, though, with both the ensemble and Douglas in sixth place in our current combined odds.

Kathleen Turner will help fill the void left by Alan Arkin on the third and final season of Netflix’s Chuck Lorre comedy, “The Kominsky Method.”
Turner will be a series regular for the upcoming season, the streamer announced on Wednesday. She appeared in a guest-starring role in Season 2 as Roz Volander, the ex-wife of Michael Douglas’ character, Sandy Kominsky.
Kathleen Turner starred opposite Douglas in a number of 1980s films, including “Romancing The Stone,” “Jewel of the Nile” and “War of the Roses.”
Roz is described as “a highly skilled doctor with whom (Sandy) has a very volatile relationship. Roz comes to L.A. to spend time with their daughter Mindy (Sarah Baker).”

“The Kominsky Method” will be without one of its co-stars for its third and final season, as Alan Arkin won’t be returning, an individual with knowledge of the decision told TheWrap.
Arkin played Norman Newlander on the Netflix comedy from Chuck Lorre. Newlander was the friend and agent of Michael Douglas’ Sandy Kominsky during the first two seasons.
Arkin’s departure was made some time ago, the individual added. It will be addressed in the third season.
The half-hour single-camera comedy is created by Lorre, an eight-time Emmy nominee and creator of “The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men.” The series, which debuted in 2018, won a Golden Globe for Best Television Comedy Series in 2019. Tonight marks the finale of The Goodwin Games, Fox's most recent sitcom. Has it been a ratings success? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
The Goodwin Games follows three estranged siblings -- an overachieving surgeon (Scott Foley), a struggling actress (Becki Newton); and a career petty criminal (T.J. Miller). They return home for their father's funeral and are informed that their father's will awards them $23 million but only if they agree to compete in a series of games that end up bringing them closer as a family. The sitcom was initially supposed to air last fall but Fox decided to save it for mid-season. Then, in November, the network cut Goodwin Games' episode order (from 13 to just seven installments). They then opted to hold the premiere until...

On the surface, The Goodwin Games seems to exemplify an increasingly common small screen trend: Disappointment Television, a.k.a. pedigreed, mega-hyped series that build impossibly high expectations and end up landing more with a whimper than a bang. The Goodwin Games stars Scott Foley, Becki Newton, and T.J. Miller as the Goodwin siblings who recently lost their father, Benjamin Goodwin (Beau Bridges). A bit of an odd duck, Benjamin had a quirky parenting style, which involved a lot of games, and there’s no reason that his death should be any different. It turns out that he has several million dollars, and he’s going to give it to whoever wins The Goodwin Games, an unknown assortment of challenges designed to get his kids back together.
Henry (Foley), Chloe (Newton), and Jimmy (Miller) are about as diverse as a set of siblings can be. His strange parenting theory apparently pushed his kids away, and he repeatedly admits to...

It’s pilot season, which means your favorite out-of-work TV actors, actresses, creators and writers are getting a chance to return to the small screen once more.
Although we have yet to know what new series we’ll see next year, the networks have been busy selecting projects to consider for their schedules. So far, almost 100 scripts have been chosen, and audiences will only get to see a handful actually come to fruition.
Several are duds, but there are a few promising prospects that I hope network executives will keep around for the 2013-2014 season — even if it means they have to cancel old favorites to make room (just keep Parks and Recreation, Ok, NBC?).

Fox has trimmed the order on its midseason comedy "The Goodwin Games" -- because, the network says, it doesn't need as many episodes.
The series starring Scott Foley, Becki Newton and T.J. Miller got a standard 13-episode order when Fox picked it up for midseason. This week, though, the network decided to trim the order to just seven episodes. When the cast and crew wrap episode 7 Friday (Nov. 2), they'll be done for the season.
The reason for the shortened order, a network rep tells Zap2it, has more to do with Fox's other comedies than with "The Goodwin Games" itself. Fox has already ordered 24 episodes of "Raising Hope," "New Girl" and "The Mindy Project" for this season, along with 19 episodes of "Ben and Kate." That means less room for 13 "Goodwin Games" episodes on the midseason schedule.

It’s that time of year, and the networks are revealing their schedules for fall. Fox is always an interesting network when it comes to the upfront season, because they usually don’t have a lot of changes, but they often have fascinating (if doomed) series on the horizon.
The full schedule is below, as are breakdowns of the specific shows, along with trailers, and I want to make sure to point out that they are likely to expire very soon, so you want to catch them while you can.
The really big news for fall is that Glee is moving. The not so big news is that mid-week primetime is still going to be taken over by reality shows. Good news, though not quite news at this point, is that fans of Bones and Fringe are going to get more of their favorite shows, despite the fact that both...

The trailer for Mindy Kaling's new Fox comedy "The Mindy Project" has hit the web, so you can now officially dry your tears about Kelly Kapoor's departure from "The Office."
In Kaling's new series, which was officially added to Fox's recently announced 2012-2013 schedule, she starts as an Ob/Gyn who has it all together in the examining room, but basically nowhere else.
In this first look at "The Mindy Project," Kaling's character Mindy Lahiri is a Meg Ryan movie devotee who is looking for a man with "the wealth of Mayor Bloomberg, the personality of Jon Stewart, the face of Michael Fassbender ... the penis of Michael Fassbender." Look out for guests stints from "Saturday Night Live" star Bill Haden and Kaling's former "Office" co-star Ed Helms in the trailer below.

It's mid-May, and in the world of television that can only mean one thing: the television network upfronts are announced, and we find out what shows have been cancelled and what's coming for the fall 2012 TV season.
Today it was Fox Broadcasting's turn to reveal what's in store for viewers of their channel. With some old favorites gone (like House), there are several openings on the broadcaster's iternary. Let's see what's new, what's coming back, and how Fox describes their new programs.
New shows:
Ben And Kate (creator: Dana Fox)
What happens when an exuberant, irresponsible dreamer who always says “yes” moves in with his overly responsible little sister to help raise her five-year-old daughter? Ben And Kate, a new single-camera young ensemble comedy, follows these odd-couple siblings as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into real life. Kate Fox (Dakota Johnson, “The Social Network”) followed the rules all her life…...

Fox is shaking things up for its upcoming 2012-2013 TV season with five new shows -- three comedies and two dramas -- and moving around some old favorites.
This fall, "Glee" moves from Tuesdays to Thursdays and is airing a bit later. The Ryan Murphy dramedy will follow "The X Factor" and "American Idol" results shows at 9 p.m. Et. Also making a jump is "Touch," starring Kiefer Sutherland, which will have its second season precede "Fringe's" fifth and final season on Fridays at 8 p.m. Et.
As for the new content, Mindy Kaling's new comedy about a young Ob/Gyn, which is currently being referred to as "The Mindy Project" (after "Mindy" and "It's Messy" were thrown around), and "Ben and Kate," about a pair of odd-couple sibling, join Fox's all-new Tuesday night comedy block, sandwiched between "Raising Hope" and "New Girl."
