Bironas was reportedly only about a mile from his home in Nashville when his 2009 Gmc Yukan Denali crashed at 11 p.m. In a statement, local police stated that Bironas had been “traveling at a high rate of speed” at the time of the crash, though there was no evidence of drug use or alcohol. The football player was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and pronounced dead.
Bironas’ death was confirmed on Twitter by his official Twitter account. In the Twitter statement, Bronas’ rep told grieving fans, “We appreciate your respect for the family’s privacy and your prayers at this time.”
