The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.
For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.
See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know.

When you add a bit of sci-fi to the mix, however, those corset laces begin to loosen. Another day, another schedule for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. Next up is Day 3 - Saturday, July 14th - which is just about as chock-full of events for the horror crowd as Friday the 13th!
As always, our focus is the horror panels, but included are a few others that we think will be of interest as well. Remember that times and participants are subject to change so keep your eyes on the official Sdcc site for updates. And hopefully they'll provide a fix soon for the Sdcc smartphone app - in years past it's been extremely helpful.
10:00-11:00 Comic-Con How-To: Anatomy of a Fight Scene, Part One— Stories are about conflict, and there is no purer form of conflict than a good ol' fisticuffs-style brawl-or sword fight, laser battle, western shootout, or even two chicks pulling each other's hair. How do you put that much action down on...

Geek goddess Felicia Day (The Guild, Dragon Age: Redemption) has unveiled her YouTube Channel, Geek & Sundry, at WonderCon on Saturday. What sorts of online goodies will this channel offer? Well, in addition to six brand spanking new shows, season five of The Guild will air beginning in April.
Day’s energy is contagious as she beamed excitement about the new online content offered by Geek & Sundry saying:
“Every single show is like a piece of love. We’re really excited to create a whole new community around these shows.”
Here’s an overview of Geek & Sundry:

Here’s the lowdown on the Geek and Sundry line-up with their individual trailers:

The leading ladies from hit web series The Guild made their way to Atlanta this weekend to join in the geeky celebration that is Dragon*Con 2011. And fortunately for us, they even participated in some panels about the show.
Amy Okuda (Tinkerballa), Robin Thorsen (Clara), and creator/star Felicia Day (Codex) spoke about their past experiences working on The Guild as well as what fans can expect from the next few episodes and future seasons of the show.
If you didn't already know (and if you're reading this far into the article, you probably should), The Guild began its fifth season in late July. The most recent episode, Revolving Doors, aired on the show's official website this week [...]...

A wiser man would have not waited to start his laundry at 9 Pm on the night before he had to drive the accursed I-5, but Lord knows I've never been that bright. So at 5 Am, I hopped in my Jetta and cruised down to San Diego. I left at this goddamned hour because usually the two hour journey is fraught with the traffic of the morning commuters plus the onslaught of nerdlingers coming to Comic-Con. Somehow, I managed to make it to San Diego by 7 Am. But my first stop wasn't the hotel or the convention center. It was a mall movie theater, to see an advanced screening of Captain America.
Like kudzu, San Diego Comic-Con has spread voraciously over the face of San Diego. Not just content to remain in the Convention Center, events have now spread to the surrounding hotel ballrooms and meeting rooms. But beyond that, the...

Vork was bound to get his own show. Well, by that I mean the web needed more of the cerebral deadpan comedy of The Guild star Jeff Lewis. Thankfully, Lewis had made a few friends who know a thing or two about shooting web series after four seasons on one of the most popular scripted comedies online. Teaming up with Guild director Sean Becker, Lewis birthed a series of sharp five-minute sketches that would feature a number of his comedy pals like Felicia Day, Alex Albrecht, Tom Konkle, Vince Caso, Robin Thorsen and Jamie Kaler. The Jeff Lewis 5-minute Comedy Hour debuted back in October of last year with Guild-cast-heavy “Tag” kicking off the season. To date, it’s still the most popular in terms of views, netting just under 80,000 so far on YouTube. Throughout the season, 5-minute would push the comedy lines into mature corners, often slapping an Nsfw...

The concept of a show whose episodes debut solely online is the future of television. Sorry, Nielsen. While Hulu gives people a chance to acclimate to this inevitable step in entertainment, others have embraced the idea wholeheartedly. One of the more prolific series to have made a name for itself in the content-saturated world of YouTube is The Guild. They’re now on their fifth season, and now their fourth has landed on DVD. The first three seasons are currently on YouTube, but if you want to enjoy the fourth, for now, the only way to do so (or if you’re one of the show’s many loyal fans) you’ll need to pick up the DVD. To be fair, they’ve managed to make the purchase worthwhile.

Returning for a third glorious season, Felicia Day's uproariously funny, knowing net comedy continues to gleefully poke fun at online gaming culture, serving as a benchmark for webisode series and a veritable how-to-guide for net based short filmmaking. Pointed, well observed, and character-driven, The Guild follows the perennial underachievement of The Knights of Good, a dysfunctional family of users, losers, and the socially stunted who fumble and bicker their way along in a fictional, unspecified massive multi-player online role-playing game.
Serving as both writer, producer, and star, much of the series rests of the appeal of Felicia Day, from whose perspective the story unfolds. Luckily, Day was born to recite neurotic, uncomfortable monologues to camera, her mousy cuteness at once both awkward and instantly adorable. As both healer class and mother hen Day's Codex is the heart of the show, charged with harmonizing the volatile needs of her misfit...

The Webventures of Justin & Alden might have one of the deepest casts of web series notables that we’ve seen to date. Fitting, since the new five-episode branded comedy web series from Cjp Digital Media and lead sponsor Trident Layers (disclosure: Trident is also a Streamy Awards sponsor) is all about two would-be internet-famos set to find web video glory by making “the greatest Web series Web show that’s ever been on the Web computer.” Justin Tyler and Alden Ford, both regulars at sketch comedy theater Ucb in New York, star as the hapless titular duo in this Bill and Ted’s-style (yes, there’s even some time travel) road trip. The destination of this road trip is the Streamy Awards in Los Angeles in hopes of finding the perfect web star. Guests of this year’s Streamys may have noticed these two crashing the red carpet and even...

The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.
This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links...

We knew we hadn't seen the last of the engine room on the Us Azureas when things left in a black hole cliffhanger this past spring. Sci-fi comedy web series The Crew is coming back for a second season next week after singing an exclusive deal with online video site Babelgum. For creator Brett Register, who had been using the hiatus from the show to roll out a number of short experimental web series like Craig and the Werewolf, he said he is excited to be able to pay his talent and crew this time around. "We were indeed able to pay everyone who worked on the show this season, which was amazing as the tagline when producing season one was, 'don't worry about money, we'll all get paid in season two,'" quipped Register. "Who knew that'd turn out to be true!" While it's not exactly TV-level money going around,...

If you were online at all last week, it's hard to make the case you weren't reminded of something happening on the 25th. The incessantly catchy music video, "Do You Wanna Date My Avatar," turned out to be the most successful (and viral) promo for a web series we've seen to date. The four-minute dance pop fantasy was not only a swift monetary success, but ignited a growing fanbase around the launch of the hit web series' third season. Today the much-anticipated Season 3 of The Guild kicks off exclusively on XBox Live, before rolling out to the rest of Microsoft's three-pronged network—MSN, XBox Live and Zune on September 1. While the phased rollout may frustrate some fans who aren't XBox owners, it comes with the territory of exclusive online distribution deals like this one, which pay an upfront premium to the creators for the right to a release window on its platform.

It was an entrance typically reserved for the A-list movie stars, but at Comic-Con in San Diego this morning Felicia Day and the cast of The Guild were rock stars. Hundreds of fans lined up hours before the morning panel and screening of the hit web series' third season, cramming into the double room to get a glimpse of the "four surprises" promised by The Guild camp, including the super-secret bonus video. The cast strolled in to a standing ovation immediately after, dressed in their colorful avatar garb complete with some impressively crafted weapons. Day, Sandeep Parikh, Robin Thorsen, Jeff Lewis, Vincent Caso and Amy Okuda have become household names amongst this crowd. This is what The Guild does, having learned to eventize their appearances, especially at Comic-Con, and the fans ate it up. When the panel got under way, which rightfully was opened up right away to a slurry...

Comic-Con week is upon us and this year, perhaps more than ever, the web series world is heading to San Diego to geek out amongst the world's finest. Sure, every major studio and comic book company is heading down to hock their wares, everything from fall TV series to loosely-related comic book and sci-fi blockbusters. But without all those generous marketing budgets are some web content gems that are making the trip and dishing the latest on their series. Who can forget last year's standing ovation at Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible panel? 8:00-10:00 Pm: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog— The California Browncoats host a screening of the original three acts, followed immediately by Commentary! The Musical. See why Joss Whedon's (Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) first foray into webisodic "television" was the talk of the town with critics and fans alike in 2008. Be prepared for a night...
