Laurence Basse was recently revealed as the favorite to win Season 15 of hit Lifetime show Project Runway. But who is she? Laurence, 41, is a designer and former model from Los Angeles, CA, who has been on the path to becoming a designer ever since she first realised she had an eye for design aged 10. She spent six years studying fashion design at the Elisa Lemonnier School For The Art in Paris and already runs her own website selling her creations at laurencebase.com. The site focuses on custom designs — mainly in leather — for both men and women, but...read more...

If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.
Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.) Every season of PR is a precious, unique little rhinestone, but, like the judges, we have our favorites -- and now it's Our turn to be biased.
So here's our very subjective but still definitive worst-to-best ranking, which may only be challenged by a glare from Nina Garcia, an eye roll from Michael Kors, a "make it work" from Tim Gunn, or an "out" from Heidi Klum.
13. Season 11 (aka 'Teams')Maybe it seemed like a good, or at least dramatic,...

In HitFix's new feature "Waxing Episodic," we reflect on an episode of television we'll never forget. I don't know a single person who believes "Project Runway" is at its best now, but the decade-old reality competition is still chugging along, and that's a remarkable feat for a show that peaked in terms of sheer entertainment value at the end of its first season. Yes, season one. Say what you will about the subsequent cycles, which have included some of the most hilarious contestants (Santino Rice, Laura Bennett, the loopy, lovable puppetrix Elisa Jimenez) and undeniable talents (Christian Siriano, Mondo Guerra, Leanne Marshall) in reality history, but "Project Runway" has almost always required trumped-up workroom drama to keep us coming back. Season three succeeded with the Jeffrey Sebelia cheating allegations and season eight offered up an irritating, intriguing teacher's pet in the form of winner Gretchen Jones, but the duller seasons...

The early stages of Survivor are both monotonous and awesome. Although you're waiting for the real alliances and betrayals to happen, you're also enjoying a lot of losers and weirdos. And that is totally fun. Think of when you first laid eyes on Project Runway's bizarre puppeteer Elisa Jimenez or leather princess Stella Zotis. You knew they wouldn't live, but you needed that craycray.
Allow me to count up the most important items of entertainment from last night's episode. We dropped from 17 contestants to 16, and the elimination felt healthy. (And yes, our blond-smirky-probz-gay hottie Carter is still in the game. Phew.)
1. Sorry, I was wrong: Roxy is just insane.
Survivor needed another motormouth to kick around since the marvelous, braindead Zane left us last week. Enter Roxy, who I thought I loved.
"Those two are dangerous together," Roxy warned us about her tribemates Malcolm and Angie, who'd been snuggling.

TheInsider.com caught up with recently cut Project Runway All-Stars designer and gothic crusader April Johnston. The now-23-year-old southern gal gave the skinny on how she is anything but a girly girl, why she prefers to design in black above all else, and which other All-Star drove her crazy. And on the personal front, the edgy designer also revealed that she is getting married to her longtime boyfriend on March 9 in Savannah, Georgia. Keep reading for all that and more ...
TheInsider.com: You did not seem very happy to be going home last night, how did it feel?
April: At the time it was really hard, you know you’re there, and you have this grand prize dangling in front of you, and you work so hard to try to get that, and so it just hurts whenever you’re rejected.

I know, I know. I should have started my "Project Runway All Stars" recaps last week when it first premiered, but I was too busy huddled in a corner, recovering from the trauma of Tim Gunn's absence, wondering how they will "make it work."
Let's get one thing clear from the start: This is not "Project Runway," no matter what the name implies. There's no Tim Gunn, no Heidi Klum, no Michael Kors and no Nina Garcia. The accessory wall is Neiman Marcus, not Bluefly. They're not at Parsons. Prizes include a year-long guest editorship at Marie Claire and a specialty boutique inside Neiman's. There's not even immunity for challenge winners. So, if you're expecting the usual situation, well ... please don't. This is a new-fangled version.
Okay, now take a deep breath (with me cause I'm freaking out). Is everyone alright? I'm sorta dizzy, but whatever, let's continue. Our...

The Insider caught up with Project Runway: All-Stars' Elisa Jimenez, after she was the first one sent packing. The free-spirited designer, known for her "spit marks," filled us in on her experience coming back to Project Runway, being a mom on her own terms, and what she has been up to since appearing on season four of the hit Lifetime show.
Ms: How are you feeling this morning?
Ej: I don't have very much to complain about. I love how the show looks. I’m really proud. Honestly, it's the first time I ever seen it. It was really fun. My experience doing it was really fun. Overall, the project I am working on is my own and my own life is really good. Being happy is usually how I like to live my life.
Ms: You seem like you have a great attitude about everything.
Ej: I am your typical alpha female.

As the first designer to get snipped on "Project Runway All Stars," Elisa Jimenez stood out not so much for her gauzy designs but for a quirkiness that also set her apart in season four. The spit marking (oops, blessing marking) designer talked to reporters the day after her last show aired to reveal why she doesn't mind looking like a nut on national television, what she'd really like to do and who she's rooting for to win. While some designers might have given the decision to return to "Runway" some hard, cold thought, for Jimenez the show seemed pre-ordained. "It...

Although Elisa Jimenez came in 10th place during her original season of "Project Runway," after last night's premiere of "Project Runway All Stars" she now also belongs to the small group of designers with the distinction of being the first one voted out.
The New York artist came in last place after her hot pants creation -- which she's using in her spring collection -- got a "no" from the new judging panel of Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman and host Angela Lindvall.
Jimenez, who spoke to reporters on a conference call after her elimination, says she found herself on the show via kismet. She had been meditating on what her next career move should be, and that same day received a call to be on "All Stars." After talking it over with her daughter, she decided to participate.

Thirteen veteran designers, who were sent home early from their seasons of Project Runway, faced off on Thursday's premiere of Project Runway: All Stars, hoping for a chance to win a prize package worth nearly $500,000. For their first challenge, the all-stars were each given $100 to shop at a 99-cent store and had to compile an outfit from their purchases. In the top were season 5's Jerell Scott, who used scarves and placemats to make a dress, and season 8 runner-up Mondo Guerra, who opted for trash bags and electrical tape. But judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman were most impressed...

Much as I forswore never again to take on the thankless task of recapping a Project Runway season from beginning to end like I did last year (unless, ahem, you wanna throw some major cashish my way) we have to, just simply have to, watch the PR All Stars premiere Thursday January 5 at 9/8 central on Lifetime. I mean, how can we not? So let's take a look at the contestants and try to figure out why they're putting themselves through this hell again.
First of all you need to be aware that there will be nary a leggy German supermodel with a proclivity towards short hems in sight, nor a dashing and debonair silver-haired bespectacled and impeccably dressed mentor who's been known to give out hugs on occasion, nor a famed designer who can cut one dead with merely a sentence tossed their way. Yep. No Klum, No Kors, No Gunn.

Lifetime is bringing back some of the most memorable "Project Runway" contestants of all time for "Project Runway All Stars," which premieres Thursday, Jan. 5 on the network. Of course, it's also bringing back a few of the less-memorable as well, but the mix of contestants for the new series is quite interesting.
A couple of familiar faces you won't be seeing are host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn or judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors. Instead, they'll be replaced by an interim "All Star" cast comprised of host Angela Lindvall (supermodel), mentor Joanna Coles (Marie Claire editor-in-chief), and fashion designer judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman.
The main attractions are "Project Runway" favorites like Austin Scarlett (Season 1, 4th place), Kara Janx (Season 2, 4th place), Rami Kashou (Season 4, runner-up) and Mondo Guerra (Season 8, runner-up). Then there are the less-admired contestants like Gordana Gehlhausen (Season 6, 4th place) and Kenley Collins (Season 5, second...

Project Runway All-Stars kicks off January 5. Here, we refresh our memories about the designers who've set their sights on another shot at fashion glory.
Some say that to be a genius is to be crazy, but this designer is just plain weird. Described as eccentric and quirky, Elisa Jimenez and her designs definitely left a mark on her season of Project Runway even though she wasn't there very long. And her resume says it all. Elisa has worked around the fashion block to earn her spot on this season of All-Stars.

Don’t they say fashion trends come in cycles? What was once out is now in: After nine seasons of sending unknown designers to Fashion Week, Project Runway is going retro and bringing back some of its most memorable (Elisa Jimenez) and talented (Mondo Guerra) contestants from seasons past for a 12-episode run. EW has learned exclusively that the 13 returning designers will strut onto Lifetime — some for the first time on that network — on Jan. 5, 2012 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt. We don’t get a good look at the fashion in the sneak peek below, but it’s clear that...

Back in 2009 when Project Runway first made the jump from Bravo to Lifetime, they kicked things off with a Project Runway All-Stars special. That show was a one-off, but this time out Lifetime has ordered entire 12 episode spinoff series.
When the series debuts later this year you'll see a bunch of fan favorite PR contestants, but what you won't see is Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Michael Kors or Nina Garcia! Maybe this is a clever way to test out whether the Project Runway franchise can work without its regular host, judges and mentor. Producers could be banking on all the familiar contestant faces making up for the loss of Tim and Heidi et. al.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, model and actress Angela Lindvall will act as host. She'll be joined by designers Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman as judges. And Marie Claire editor-in-chief Joanna Coles will attempt to fill Tim Gunn's mentor shoes.
