A rare collection of artwork featuring concepts for Disneyland rides and areas that never were built has been sold at auction. Heritage Auctions handled the sales earlier this month in Beverly Hills, California.
The event spotlighted hand-drawn sketches from the Bradley/Bushman Early Disneyland Archives, which conceptualized rides and themed lands for the Disney theme park in Anaheim.
Among the theme park plans and concepts was an “Anything Can Happen” land, and plans for underwater aquariums. In the latter, guests would have walked into the mouths of the crocodile from Peter Pan or Monstro, the whale from Pinocchio, to view marine life.
Another concept detailed an 80-foot-tall statue of Goofy dressed as a clown. The colossus would have been located where the theme park’s Sleeping Beauty Castle now stands.

Forget Batman, forget the X-Men. The greatest rogues gallery in comics history belongs to Spider-Man. So great are his baddies that Sony continues to spend millions of dollars to launch a cinematic universe around them. And while Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Venom continue to get most of the attention, even B-level guys like the Spot have been elevated to big bads.
But let’s be honest, even Spider-Man comics have a few duds when it comes to bad guys. Even if we took out the horrendous mess that was the Clone Saga (and we aren’t going to take it out), Spider-Man would still have too many losers and redundant villains to count. So, here are the absolute worst of the worst in Spider-Man’s villain roster, characters so dull that they aren’t good for much besides getting killed in a crossover event.

Not bad for a story of a bored but determined girl who followed a nervous rabbit, moaning that he was getting late, into a bizarre underground world, and then, climbed through a mirror into a parallel world, set out like a chess board.
And in her peregrinations through these strange illogical worlds, she meets the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the King and Queen of Hearts, the Gryphon, the Jabberwock, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Humpty Dumpty, the White Knight, and a host of many more.
‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ (1865), or ‘Alice in Wonderland’, as it is more popularly known, and its sequel ‘Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There’ (1871-2) (‘Through the Looking-Glass’ more commonly) stand high both by themselves, and the adaptations that they have inspired across various media.
The appeal of these two books, by Oxford academic and cleric Charles Luttwidge Dodgson (1832-98), who took the pen name Lewis Carroll,...

In the third episode of the third season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," called "Mining the Mind's Mines," the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos has been tasked with rescuing a team of geologists from a planet populated by silicon-based life forms called the Scrubble. Commander Ransom (Jerry O'Connell) bemoans the fact that Federation scientists often play fast-and-loose with safety, and it's always Starfleet who has to come clean up their research missions when they go afoul.
On the Scrubble planet, mysterious glowing crystal orbs read a victim's thoughts, briefly manifest their deepest desires in the real world, and then turn their victims into statues. Throughout the episode, characters will have to come up with quick, embarrassed excuses when some of their deepest desires appear in front of their peers. Ensign Mariner (Tawney Newsome), for instance, can't help but reveal that she's developed feelings for her Andorian co-worker Jennifer.

This article contains Star Trek: Strange New Worlds spoilers.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Episode 8
Will space aliens judge us by our best works of narrative art? Likely not. If extraterrestrials exist, the truth is, they’ll probably know us by our most random works of fiction. Curating a golden record for aliens is a nice idea, but if you through telepathy and bedtime stories into the mix, the stories that represent humanity the most will be the ones we least expect. At least that’s the basic premise in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Episode 8, “The Elysian Kingdom.”
Here’s how this Strange New Worlds episode draws inspiration from two classic — and hilarious — episodes from The Original Series with a brand new twist. Spoilers ahead.
At the start of “The Elysian Kingdom,” Dr. M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) finds his shipmates utterly transformed. Suddenly, the crew of the Enterprise has...
