Hansal Mehta’s “The Buckingham Murders,” which premieres at the BFI London Film Festival, will be the first in a franchise.
Written by Aseem Arrora, Raghav Raj Kakker and Kashyap Kapoor, the film follows Jasmeet Bhamra (portrayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan), a detective and mother who, after losing her own child, must investigate the murder of a 10-year-old in Buckinghamshire, going down a rabbit hole of secrets, where almost everyone in the small town becomes a suspect.
Kapoor Khan has said that her character is inspired in part by Kate Winslet’s role in “Mare of Easttown.” “I love ‘Mare of Easttown’ and when Hansal came to me, I said this is something that I’ve really been dying to do. So we’ve molded a little bit on those lines, she plays a detective cop in that,” Kapoor Khan had told Variety.

Mission Majnu is a thriller movie directed by Shantanu Bagchi starring Sidharth Malhotra, Rashmika Mandanna and Parmeet Sethi. It is written by Parveez Sheikh, Aseem Arora and Sumit Batheja. You can watch it on Netflix from January 20.
Mission Majnu is a Bollywood film for those first time viewers with its songs, sentimental characters and colorful, rhythmic vision in an action thriller.
This movie is in its original Hindi, so you need to take that into account.
Spies, intrigue, thriller and melodrama in this production with a political backdrop.
About the Movie Mission Majnu
We warn you: this movie promises more action in the tráiler than which it delivers later in the movie. However, it is entertaining… it uses a plot and treatment that is more or less lightweight at the beginning and transforms it into a more “serious” movie of political intrigue that gradually morphs into drama and even melodrama.

The Bollywood spy flick gets more ambitious this year, with a couple of top superstars signing up roles in the genre. Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut and Sidharth Malhotra will give the Bollywood spy thriller new-age twist on big screen, even as Manoj Bajpayee continues with his escapades in the Ott space with The Family Man 2.
While the Hollywood hangover is still evident on Hindi espionage thrillers when it comes to form and execution, the new-age Bollywood spy banks heavily on pop patriotism for his mojo when it comes to content.
A list of some of the most awaited films in the genre.

Chhalaang (Amazon Prime)
Starring Rajkummar Rao, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Saurabh Shukla, Ila Arun, and Satish Kaushik
Directed by Hansal Mehta
The most complicated part of this languid film is the spelling of the heroine’s name. Otherwise it’s all very simple, really. If a sports teacher in a backwater town of Haryana is indolent and insolent, bring on a feisty girl from the outside who when asked for a date retorts, ‘Daru pilayega?’
This is the writers Luv Ranjan, Aseem Arrora and Zeishan Quadri’s idea of progressive womanhood. It gets even more weird as the progressive elements ‘progress’ to a deadend that comes a good two hours after the opening gag where the word randwaa for widower is supposed to simulate humour.
At one point the above-mentioned daru-swigging damsel shares a drink with her future father-in-law. Wah, Haryana is the place to be on holiday from ‘dry’ Bihar.

Sports films can no longer be just about sporting themes and students coming of age, we have crossed that generic phase a while back. So Hansal Mehta, in the most mainstream film he has made in a while, throws in a love triangle and a whole lot of goofy humour into the narrative of his new film. The story is set in heartland Haryana, and that gives him a passable scope to talk patriarchy without getting too heavy about it.
Mehta's new film is far from the class of Aligarh, Shahid or his recent web series Scam 1992 -- directorial efforts that draw automatic recall when you think of the filmmaker. That's not to say Chhalaang lacks quality. It's just that Mehta has made an easier film this time,...

Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much - this maxim perhaps best describes the 'Bellbottom' journey from start to finish. A schedule that began as an impossibility has culminated into a storybook ending that has put the Hindi film industry right on the global map.
"It's teamwork and I am grateful to each and every member of the cast and crew from the spot dadas to the light dadas to the technicians to the make-up dadas to my lovely heroines Vaani, Lara, Huma, my director Ranjit and to Vashuji and the production team who believed in our audacious plan. The new normal has made us realise a different way of working that none of us could have imagined. I hope this encourages film industries globally to do what they do best and start entertaining audiences again. I hope our shoot during the pandemic reassures others...

Bollywood period espionage thriller “Bellbottom,” starring Akshay Kumar (“Pad Man”), and directed by Ranjit Tewari (“Lucknow Central”) has wrapped its Scotland shoot, making it one of the first projects globally to start and complete its entire shoot during the coronavirus pandemic.
Producers Pooja Entertainment (“Coolie No. 1”) flew the 200-strong crew in a chartered flight to Glasgow and quarantined them for 14 days, creating a bubble, and completed the film in a 45-day schedule over August and September.
The unit worked closely with Scotland’s Screen Commission and adhered to Covid-safe guidelines. Besides medical-grade PPE, and required distancing, the production made it mandatory for all cast and crew to wear a watch that constantly monitored their oxygen levels, body temperature, blood pressure, stress levels and pulse. A centralized dashboard constantly recorded the parameters of the entire unit and kept a check for any changes in readings.

With months of meticulous planning behind them, Pooja Entertainment is Bollywood’s first production house off the block to shoot a complete schedule of its big-budget spy thriller Bellbottom with Akshay Kumar in the lead.
Bellbottom, a retro drama with Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta was announced late last year. Pooja Entertainment took the decision to shoot a start to finish stint keeping the global health crisis in mind.
Now, using the latest technology, the film team is all set for an extended shoot beginning soon. Besides medical-grade masks and face shields, after consulting medical experts, the production house is making it mandatory for all cast and crew to wear a wrist watch that will constantly monitor their oxygen levels, body temperature, blood pressure, stress levels and pulse. A centralized dashboard will constantly record the parameters of the entire unit and keep a check for any changes in readings.

Baazaar
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Rohan Mehra, Radhika Apte, Chitrangda Singh
Directed by Gauravv K Chawla
Rating: ****(4 Stars)
I can’t recall a single notable (or even non-notable) Indian film based on the plunging dips and giddying highs of the stock market.
Do you remember Harshad Mehta? How could you forget the podgy stockbroker who made thousands of Indians rich overnight and then it all ended in a financial mess in no time at all.
Saif Ali Khan’s Shakun Kothari’s destiny run on the same lines. Except that Saif as the wily ruthless Machiavellian stockbroker is everything that Harshad Mehta would have wanted to be. This is Saif’s most gloriously written and performed part, meaty witty and wicked. He chews into it exposing a sacred hunger that I didn’t notice in his last over-hyped outing.
Saif as Shakun is a trueblue Gujju who won’t let neo-affluence corrupt his cultural integrity.

Lucknow Central
Starring Farhan Akhtar, Gippy Grewal, Diana Penty, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma, Inamulhaq
Directed by Ranjit Tiwari
Rating: **** ½ (4 and a half stars)
“You don’t get justice in the world, you only get good luck or bad luck,” a wise old librarian (pronounced ‘lee-bray-nian’ by his Lucknowi singer-son) quotes Orson Welles.
Our good luck, then, that we get a prison drama as taut and thrilling, relevant and resonant as Lucknow Central right in the middle of the year when things are looking bloody bleak in Bollywood.
Yes, there is hope. Lucknow Central is by far the most engaging thinking-man’s thriller of the year. Ballsy and brave, it penetrates the politics of prison life without relinquishing the right to engage us in a solid storytelling spree where a clever cat-and-mouse game is played out between a sadistic jailor (Ronit Roy, in top form) and a non-guilty prisoner (Farhan Akhtar...

Readers may recall that, Bollywood Hungama had earlier reported (in February this year) that Nikhil Advani will be making Lucknow Central, a film that will be directed by Ranjit Tiwari. The latest update on the same is that the film will be produced jointly by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Nikhil Advani's Emmay Entertainment & Motion Pictures. Lucknow Central is a film whose story has been set in the backdrop of a jail. Speaking about the film, Nikhil Advani felt that the film was in good hands with the backing of a studio like Viacom18 Motion Pictures, a heart-warming script written by Aseem Arora and having Ranjit Tiwari as a director. On the other hand, Ajit Andhare (COO-Viacom18 Motion Pictures) stated that Lucknow Central had all the makings of an endearing and entertaining film that would strike a chord with viewers, for both, its content and innovative music. Elaborating on the same,...
