When Jimmy Fallon’s popular late-night segment-turned-spinoff “That’s My Jam” launches on the BBC on Saturday, British comedian Mo Gilligan will be at the helm, making his debut in a major primetime slot.
Gilligan and Fallon have a lot in common: Both have reinvigorated late-night TV on their respective sides of the pond. With catchy segments like “History of Rap” and “Lip Sync Battle,” Fallon brought a musical flavor to late night long before James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” ever pulled up. Meanwhile, Gilligan, host of Channel 4’s “The Lateish Show” and “The Big Narstie Show,” shepherded a new wave of British late-night programming.
“It’s not to say there weren’t ones before,” says Gilligan, citing Alan Carr and Graham Norton as earlier U.K. late-night stars. It was more saying, “Where do I fit in, being a young Black guy? I really wanted to bring my own identity.

Channel 4 wants to be “braver” and “more ambitious,” said Jo Street, the network’s head of daytime and features.
Street made the comments during a “Commissioners” panel at the Edinburgh TV Festival alongside head of drama Caroline Hollick, head of factual, Danny Horan and head of entertainment and events Phil Harris.
“I think the next phase for us is what do we do outside of property, we get pitched that all the time,” said Street, who is also the head of Channel 4’s Glasgow hub. “I’m very much, urging people who probably will be watching this: don’t pitch us that sort of safe middle ground, we get so much of that, and I want people to be bolder with what we do. Wizkid, a champion of the Nigerian genre known as afrobeats, released a pair of new songs this week, “Master Groove” and “Fever,” to mark his country’s independence day.
Both songs add a lone, squeaky horn line to the usual lilting melodies that define afrobeats. In “Master Groove,” the beat is scintillating and minimal; “Fever” adds a cowbell and a steady, if muted, kickdrum. Wizkid sings flirtatious lines in tone so gentle it wouldn’t wake a sleeping baby.

But one singer on Queen is less well-known to American listeners: Labrinth, who co-wrote, co-produced and sang on “Majesty,” a schizophrenic, hard-hitting record with an astoundingly fast verse from Eminem.

In addition to those three movies, the Best Movie category is rounded out by “Concussion” and “Straight Outta Compton.” The acting races pit Kerry Washington against Viola Davis, Michael B. Jordan against Idris Elba, and more. Samuel L. Jackson and “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams will both receive special honors, the former with the Lifetime Achievement Award and the latter with the Humanitarian Award. There’s also planned tributes to the late Muhammad Ali and Prince.

Sky 1's new music panel show Bring the Noise hasn't even begun yet, but already it's given us this rather good/disturbing clip of David Tennant really committing to character.
The Broadchurch star and Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson act out Elton John and Kiki Dee's 1976 video for 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' - dungarees and formerly receding hairline included.
In the segment, Wilson takes on the role of John and Tennant does Dee, with panellist Nicole Scherzinger remarking: "David, you look pretty as a girl..."
Alongside music video spoofs, Bring the Noise comprises music trivia and performance battles.
Wilson hosts, with team captains Scherzinger and Tinie Tempah sitting alongside regulars Katherine Ryan and Joel Dommett.
Tennant is one of a number of guests to appear on the show, with Martin Kemp also appearing tonight, and Laurence Fox (Lewis), Mel C and Foxes popping up throughout the series.

Jess Glynne will be joining Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on The X Factor at Judges' Houses.
The 'Hold My Hand' singer is accompanying Cheryl to help make her final decision, as she chooses which Groups to take with her to the live shows.
Glynne scored a number one last year with Clean Bandit on 'Rather Be', before picking up four more - including 'Don't Be So Hard on Yourself' and 'Not Letting Go' with Tinie Tempah.
Cheryl recently vowed to be a much "tougher" judge and mentor this year, adding that she's usually "like a sponge [and] too sensitive".
Meanwhile, Mark Ronson has been confirmed for Judges' Houses with Nick Grimshaw. Ronson and Grimmy will be teaming up to judge the Boys in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
The X Factor continues on Saturday night (October 3) at 8pm on ITV. Watch Rita Ora talking to Digital Spy about the Six Chair Challenge below:...

Never Mind the Buzzcocks may be gone from TV screens, but Sky1 is planning a spiritual successor to the defunct music panel show.
Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chiefs and The Voice fame is your host of Bring the Noise, which promises to blend music trivia questions with set pieces, parodies, mash-ups and a final round performance battle.
Nicole Scherzinger and Tinie Tempah have signed up as team captains, while stand-up comedian Katherine Ryan joins as a regular panellist.
"Nicole, Tinie and Katherine are all completely brilliant and ridiculous in equal measure," said Wilson, who previously hosted Buzzcocks in 2006.
"I'm no stranger to music-based TV shows with a competitive element, but this is taking music TV to another level," he continued, encouraging viewers to "swing by the off licence, phone for a takeaway, and settle in".

It's currently being suggested that X Factor hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack will not be attending the key Judges' Houses stage of the competition in person this year.
Instead, the duo will anchor proceedings from the studio, according to The Sun.
The ITV talent show's previous host Dermot O'Leary jetted across the world with the judges - touching down in locations such as Mexico, Australia and Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for ITV has since told Digital Spy: "There is nothing confirmed for Judges' Houses at this stage."

Jake Gyllenhaal nailed an Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation while sitting right next to the action icon on “The Graham Norton Show” on Sunday. Gyllenhaal threw out a classic “Kindergarten Cop” reference when the British TV host asked the “Southpaw” star and fellow guests Emilia Clarke, Cara Delevingne and rapper Tinie Tempah to shout out their favorite Schwarzenegger movie lines for one of the “Terminator Genisys” star’s social media videos. With accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Periscope, Schwarzenegger has been praised for his use of social media In fact, TheWrap recently named him one of the 13 Hollywood stars killing it on Snapchat.

Graham Norton is at it again. His show seems to be the place where the celebrities are having more fun than the audience. This time he had icon Arnold Schwarzenegger as a guest along with a couch full of other celebrities. At that point the question becomes obvious? Who can "out catchphrase" the master of the catchphrase? The idea was that after a brief intro by Arnold everybody else would give their best Schwarzenegger catchphrase, with Arnold finishing up. Suicide Squad.s Cara Delevingne started with the go-to "I.ll be back." Schwarzenegger.s Terminator: Genisys co-star, Emilia Clarke, followed up with the classic from Terminator 2 "Hasta la Vista, Baby." Jake Gyllenhaal.s choice, "there is no bathroom" is slightly more obscure, but it shows a breadth of film knowledge that we obviously appreciate here. English rapper Tinie Tempah then followed up with, another Kindergarten Cop line, "who is...

It’s been 8 years since the Bradford-born Dynamo first hit our TV screens, with an initial appearance on Richard and Judy marking the start of a rapid rise to becoming a bona fide global sensation.
