Edinburgh International Film Festival (Eiff) has unveiled its industry programme, running from August 16-19, including a repositioning of the Works in Progress strand as well as a raft of new training opportunities for curators and producers.

Producers of the Spirit Awards, and non-profit arts organization, Film Independent, announced the five filmmakers and projects selected for their 21st annual producing Lab. The fellows will participate in a program set up to help develop their skills and further their careers by pairing them with a creative advisor who will advise on both the craft and business of independent producing.
The 2021 Producing Lab is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The Sloan Producers Grant, a $30,000 grant to further develop a project that explores science and technology themes or characters in engaging and innovative ways, was awarded to Cecilia Otero with her project, Upstreamers. Additional support comes from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Film Bazaar: Three of the Work-in-Progress Lab projects at this year’s Film Bazaar are international co-productions, suggesting Indian filmmakers are getting to grips with the complexities of working with Europe.
Among the line-up of rough cuts screening at the market are Dipesh Jain’s In The Shadows, a co-production between UK-Indian production house Exstant Motion Pictures, founded by Shuchi Jain, and German producer Lena Vurma’s Dragonfly Films.
“Shuchi came on board early to produce and finance the film, but we didn’t have a huge amount of sales experience, so Lena joined to help us produce and handle sales on the film,” said Dipesh Jain, who met Vurma at Film Bazaar in 2013.
Starring Manoj Bajpayee and Belgian actress Laura Verlinden (The Brand New Testament), the film is a psychological drama about a man who is trapped within the walls of Delhi’s old city and his own mind.

Frontières International Co-Production Market has unveiled the full line-up for its third European edition.
Taking place at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (Bifff) from March 30-April 1, Frontières will showcase 20 projects from the likes of Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Turkey and the UK.
A total of 20 projects were selected from a record number of submissions new projects from Baskin’s Can Evrenol, Doc Of The Dead’s Alexandre Philippe, Go Down Death’s Aaron Schimberg and I Sell The Dead’s Glenn McQuaid.
Giles Daoust (Starry Eyes), Amy Darling (Violent), François Cognard (The Strange Color Of Your Body’s Tears) and Glass Eye Pix’s Larry Fessenden and Peter Phok are among the producers showcasing new projects in Brussels.

Nine Indian screenwriters are heading to Berlin with their projects for the Indo-German Script Development Workshop to be held from February 5-9,2012.
This workshop is an initiative by Life Entertainment, Germany & Mami (Mumbai Academy of Moving Images), India. The nine projects were selected from 100 submissions received. They contain an Indo-German cultural conflict or a local Indian story which might connect to a German Audience.
In September 2012, a jury will choose the best projects; those then will be awarded at the 14th Mumbai Film Festival in October 2012.
The nine projects are:
‘Holy Hair’ by Monika Sandmann (Drama/Comedy),
‘Learning To Fly’ by Sonia Bahl (Drama, Sport),
‘The Hanged Man’ by Megha Subramanian (Romantic Comedy),
