Having come from a family with 3 generations of divers, Jason's life was always closely connected to the ocean.
Age 16 he was an accomplished water man, Surf Life Saver, NAUI Open Water Diver closely connected to NSRI
1991 recruited into the South African Navy, as a part one clearance diver, Receiving "The most practical diver of course" award, Jason then spent the next 2 years gaining experience with underwater explosives, mine counter measures, and Operational dive team procedures.
1994 left the Navy and spent 10 years working as a sport diving instructor, diamond diver, up the west coast of Africa, Skippering boats in the Caribbean, Crewing on cruise ships, working as a commercial diver both inshore and offshore, salvaging the wreck of the Grosvenor.
Jason returned to Cape Town in 2004, taking up a position with the South African Museums, Maritime Division. While writing an article on his experience in the tropics for a local dive magazine Jason was introduced to Jimmy Fraser who was a free lance operator in the SA film industry, It was on this meeting that the Frog Squad was born.
Today Jason, Jimmy and AJ run the "Frog Squad",the Premier Marine, Underwater Camera and Commercial Diving service to the South African film Industry. "We offer a Leadership team of Marine professionals, all ex Navy, all have 10 years plus in the Film industry, you can't beat that anywhere in the world".
Having spent the last 12 years coordinating, Jason now also spends his days Underwater operating the Camera. His Underwater credits include Red Sea Dive resort, Tomb Raider, Outlander, last face, Tiger house, Resident Evil, North-men, The Giver, Dark Tower and Blacksails.
Going forward the future looks bright for both the Frog Squad and Jason. "Our plan it to grab hold of the opportunities that present themselves, and always be mindful that we are privileged to do what we love as a career. We also remain thankful for those opportunities afforded to us by the industry and the faith that Producers have in us, This we will never take for granted"
