Michael Rhode
Mike Rhode was the chief archivist of the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington, DC from 1989-2011, and his television appearances and 'special thanks' relate to that roll. Aside from his professional career in the history of military medicine, he studies cartooning history. He is coauthor of the Comics Research Bibliography, Editor of Exhibition and Media Reviews of the International Journal of Comic Art, and a contributing writer for Hogan's Alley and has written for the Comics Journal in the past. The RFK Journalism Awards asked him to be a judge for the editorial cartoon division in 2009-2016. In 2015 & 2016, he was a Herblock Award judge. He has edited Harvey Pekar: Conversations, a book of interviews for the University Press of Mississipp. In 2012, he edited and published Biographical Sketches of Cartoonists & Illustrators in the Swann Collection of the Library of Congress by LOC's curator Sara Duke. In 2014, he co-edited The Art of Richard Thompson, a book about the cartoonist and caricaturist.
