Remember the classic Weird-Ohs monster hot rod model kits from the ’60s? Well, they are coming back thanks to Ahmet Zappa. His company Monsterfoot Productions have acquired the rights to develop and create new shows and media based on Weird-Ohs.
Weird-Ohs is the brainchild of William “Bill” Campbell, who in the early ‘60s set out to design a wild cast of monsters in hot rods along the lines of Ed “Big Daddy” Roth’s designs. The Hawk Model Company released the first line of Weird-Ohs based on Campbell’s designs in 1963 spawning a hit model toy line with licenses extending from board games, masks, trading cards, records, puzzles, lunch boxes and action figures to a short-lived animated series which aired on Fox Family in 2000.
Toronto-based toy and entertainment licensing agency Mlgpc brokered the deal between Zappa and current owner of Weird-Ohs, J. Lloyd International.

Hey,"Bull" fans. Unfortunately, we have some very bad news for you guys in this article. For some reason, CBS will not be airing the new episode 8 of this current season 4 tonight, November 11, 2019. The good news is that this delay will only be for this week. You guys can expect to see the new episode 8 air next Monday night, November 18, 2019 at approximately 9 pm central standard time on CBS of course. So, definitely be sure to mark down that very important date on your TV show calendars. So, what is CBS airing tonight instead of "Bull?" That is a very good question, and we do have an answer for it. According to the TV guide listings, CBS is actually airing an episode of "Bull." It just won't be a new episode. They're airing a dreaded rerun or repeat episode. The repeat episode they are airing is the 16th episode of last season 3. This episode is titled,...

Each year when my Bfca ballot arrives I stop in my tracks, stumped, when I get to "Young Performer". Categories that aren't Oscar correlative are often trickier.
Oh dear. How uneasy I feel..."
That's not because you're free of predicting (anyone trying to predict with their own ballot really ought to find a new profession -- criticism: ur not doing it right) but because it's a subsection of acting you probably haven't been discussing at all. You suddenly remember that you need to have been considering it with as much seriousness as you have made your other selections.
I imagine that Ellar Coltrane, the now 20 year old star of Boyhood, will be tough to beat since this category is for the 21 and under set. But even if the category were adjusted downward to 17 and younger (which we strongly support as a rule change -because it's always weird when an adult...

Chicago – Except for the clear purpose of cashing in on yet another “Godzilla” remake, everything is happening for no reason. Worst of all, what is ensuing misses and even mocks the reason why Ishirô Honda originated 1954’s “Godzilla” in the first place.
Since then, times have dramatically changed and blockbuster Hollywood movies have a new boss to answer to: the box office. Still, we can’t forgive a film that focuses on CGI and big-city destruction while assuming we don’t care about a story and the honesty of where that plot needs to have its roots. The original “Godzilla” is an understandable outpouring from Japan when it was suffering in real life. America isn’t traumatized here.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
It’s insulting to audiences to think the eye candy fed to the two holes above our nose is more important than the brain that sits atop our head. Our minds have to be equally satisfied.

Title: Godzilla Directed By: Gareth Edwards Starring: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Carson Bolder, Cj Adams, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn “Godzilla” is a little light on fully realized human characters, but what does that matter when you’ve got a 350-foot monster with an astonishing amount of fight and resolve to root for? When a mine collapses in the Philippines, Dr. Ishiro Serizawa and Dr. Vivienne Graham (Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins) come to check out what’s left behind and are shocked to find the radioactive remains of something inexplicably large. Well north in Japan, they’re feeling the effects of whatever rattled that mine, but only [ Read More ]

Once again, dear readers, I have to begin a column by apologizing for an unplanned absence. I’ve been very busy with work and family stuff lately, and I didn’t have the time to deliver the quality columns you’ve come to expect and deserve. But on a much happier note, this week’s much-delayed edition of Trailer Trashin’ takes another look at my most anticipated film of the year, Godzilla.
Premise: An epic rebirth of Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
My take: As I’ve previously stated in this column, I’ve been a huge Godzilla fan since I was a kid. After the debacle that was the 1998 Roland Emmerich film, I had resigned myself to believing that I’d never get to see a...

More behind the scenes action(?) comes to light in the form of this new production pic from 'Monsters' director Gareth Edwards' newest and much bigger budgeted creature feature 'Godzilla'. Hoping to eclipse that God awful attempt by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin ('Independence Day') back in 1998 this new take on the much mimicked monster movie has already upped its predecessor by lining up an impressive and talented cast. Aaron Taylor-Johnson ('Kick-Ass 2'), Elizabeth Olsen ('Silent House'), Bryan Cranston ('Breaking Bad'), Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins ('Made in Dagenham'), David Strathairn ('Lincoln'), Ken Watanabe ('Inception'), Richard T. Jones ('Event Horizon'), Patrick Sabongui, C.J. Adams, Yuki Morita, Brian Markinson, Akira Takarada and Victor Rasuk all star in the upcoming reboot. Check the image below....

As 'Monsters' helmer Gareth Edwards' new 'Godzilla' redo paces forward there's more visual confirmation that another new cast member has been assembled for the project. C.J. Spring Breakers (18)
(Harmony Korine, 2012, Us) Selena Gomez, James Franco, Gucci Mane. 94 mins
The new American dream/nightmare of the endless beach party is both celebrated and satirised in Korine's woozy Florida tale. The story is fittingly loose – four naive teens turn to criminal means to fund their hedonism – but it's more of an experience: a dubstep-tracked collage of neon, Day-Glo and tanned flesh, all facilitated by Franco's fantastically watchable gangsta rapper.
A Late Quartet (15)
(Yaron Zilberman, 2012, Us) Christopher Walken, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener. 106 mins
A respected New York string quartet is struck by an excess of issues here: terminal illness, infidelity, professional jealousy, you name it. Without the distinguished cast, its highbrow melodramas would seem ludicrous.

Cindy (Jennifer Garner) and Jim (Joel Edgerton) are desperate to be parents. However, when they’re told by their doctor that this won’t happen naturally, they decide to indulge their dreams one final time by burying a box in their back garden filled with all the personality traits their ideal child would bear – kind, honest to a fault and musical, to name a few. Overnight, a magical storm occurs and Timothy (Cj Adams), a young boy with leaves on his ankles, is thrust into Cindy and Jim’s life.

This movie about an infertile couple who grow a son in their garden is sentimental, glutinous and infantile.
"Odd"? Try "tremendously annoying, creepy and reactionary". Somewhere in the dark heartland of America there is a great yearning for these quirky-icky fables, and here's another, from the pen of author and director Peter Hedges. This film is sentimental and artlessly sinister: like a cross between Mary Shelley and John Irving, with a dash of the equally unendurable Benjamin Button movie. Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton play Cindy and Jim Green, a couple longing for kids, but infertile. In their agony, and indulging in a kind of grief therapy, they compile notes of what they wanted their child to be like and bury them in the garden. The Odd Life Of Timothy Green is certainly an odd little movie. Telling the story of a childless couple who bury a box in their backyard which contains all their wishes for a child. Things start to get odd when a a young boy, named Timothy (who’d have guessed?) appears in their house, seemingly after growing out of the ground. Timothy is like most boys his age except for the fact that he has leaves growing out of his legs. With Timmy well about to hit his early teens, Cindy and Jim are thrown into parenthood with a bang and they go on a journey of raising Timmy the tree boy. Jennifer Garner is on top form here. From the first moment she appears on screen, she lights it up. She has a really solid presence and really belts out the emotion when required. The same can almost be...

When happily-married Cindy and Jim (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) make a wish-list of the attributes of the child they cannot have, little do they suspect that it will be a wish come true. Appearing during a thunderstorm, young Timothy (Cj Adams) embodies all the virtues - true heart, kind nature and winning goalscorer - that they dreamed of. And his basic goodness is soon having a positive effect among family and friends in the depressed small town where they live.

If you believe that fairies live at the bottom of the garden, then you might just find yourself in movie heaven (or a rubber room) with this whimsical yarn starring Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton. Others will be left nonplussed by a story that casts the aforementioned as a married couple desperate to have a child and then find one, freshly sprouted from a hole in the front yard.
Garner gives a master-class in dewy-eyed melancholy in the opening stretch, but writer/director Peter Hedges is also quite practiced in the art of balancing sadness against dreamy optimism (with credits including Dan in Real Life and the script for What's Eating Gilbert Grape). Here, though, it's just a little too much to take when those dreams magically come to life in physical form.

Today the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films announced its nominees for the 2013 Saturn Awards, one of the few awards programs in which a lot of us will recognize nearly every production. The awards have been expanded over recent years, so if you are unclear about just what type of productions are honored by the Academy, an explanation is included in the press release below, although it can really be summarized as “we know it when we see it.”
A few head-scratchers, however, just beg to be called out:
Anna Karenina? Les Miserables? Leverage? Elementary? Really? That is some broad definition. No subgenre categories for television. The Academy proofreader should know by now that it’s “Syfy” and not “SyFy” (don’t worry, I fixed it, and sorry, it’s a pet peeve). Adding in historical fiction somewhere somehow without actually mentioning it. The entire category “Best Youth-Oriented...

On this week’s new episode of Mousterpiece Cinema, Gabe and Josh are joined once again by prolific pop-culture critic Keith Phipps to talk about a film focused on a boy whose life you might call quirky. You might call it strange. In fact, you could even call it…odd. (On that pun, we have no regrets.) Yes, this week, the show rights a wrong and finally discusses the late-summer family drama The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Garner, Cj Adams, and a slew of exceptionally talented character actors such as Dianne Wiest and James Rebhorn. Cast aside, did Gabe, Josh, and Keith actually enjoy this whimsical tale of how a married couple learns life lessons through their magical new son, or were they left cold by its attempted charms? And which of the three guys actually makes the “odd”-based pun on the show? (It...

Timothy Green is an interesting boy. He doesn.t come from a mama.s belly, but from the earth and a good dose of wishes and dreams. The result is a charming, magical film that grows on you. Cindy (Jennifer Garner) and Jim Green (Joel Edgerton) cannot have kids and are in a meeting with an adoption agency telling the odd story of how their son Timothy (Cj Adams) magically appeared. When the couple got the news about their not being able to have children, Jim decided that they should put all of the characteristics of their perfect child on note paper, put them in a box, then bury them in their garden. That night after a strange thunderstorm they...

It’s a very distinct world we’re entering when The Odd Life of Timothy Green begins, and while the film capitalizes wonderfully on the potential, it unfortunately also falls victim to some of the traps.
Jim and Cindy Green (Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Garner) are a happy couple living the medium-town life, but when they learn that they aren’t going to be able to have kids, they don’t take it very well. In an effort to deal with their sense of mourning, they bury all their hopes and dreams for their child in the backyard. That night, Timothy shows up in their house, covered in dirt and ready for middle school. Their self-proclaimed son left a large hole in the garden in his wake, and comes equipped with leaves growing out of his calves.

Chicago – “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” is the sort of extravagantly wrong-headed misfire that perhaps only could’ve been made by talented people. The director is Peter Hedges, an accomplished screenwriter best known for adapting his excellent book, “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” for the big screen. The ensemble cast reads like a roll call of America’s most reliable character actors.
What went wrong? Oh, where to begin? It appears as if Hedges had set out to construct a heartwarming family drama out of increasingly uncomfortable, squirm-inducing scenarios. Consider the multitude of moments in which goggle-eyed adults ask a child if they can touch him and he happily complies. Or the scene where that same creepy kid draws a startlingly sexy portrait of an old curmudgeon. Or how about all of those times when the saintly brat just stands there smiling for no apparent reason.
Blu-ray Rating: 1.5/5.0

Cinelinx celebrates The Odd Life of Timothy Green Blu-ray!
The Set-up
A couple desperate to have a child bury their written wishes in a box in their garden, only to have them spring to life in the form of a young boy, Timothy.
Directed by: Peter Hedges
The Delivery
Judging by the trailer, I expected The Odd Life of Timothy Green to be one of those rare films that sucked you in to its quirky, orignal world and provided a modern fairy tale. Unfortunately, that's not what you get. This fantasy/drama from screenwriter/director Peter Hedges is an uneven affair, primarily because it fails to completely sell the viewer on the fantasy premise.
Hedges, nominated for an Oscar for writing About a Boy, has been behind a number of character-driven drama/comedies, including What's Eating Gilbert Grape and Dan in Real Life. Somehow, Timothy Green never reaches their level.

As Ben Affleck has resurrected his career post-Bennifer implosion with a series of increasingly impressive directorial efforts, it’s easy to speculate that the Gigli star has learned a thing or two about the perils of working alongside romantic partners. So whilst Jennifer Garner’s husband wows critics with his latest release, Argo, the former “Alias” leading lady is left to take on a seemingly endless stream of lacklustre big screen projects. With a résumé that already includes the maligned Arthur remake, an odious Valentine’s Day and the *ahem* unforgettable Elektra, Garner can now add Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green to her growing list of movie mistakes.

New 'Odd Life of Timothy Green' movie delivered lots of weird drama & interesting plot. Walt Disney Pictures released their new drama/fantasy flick "Odd Life of Timothy Green." I just checked it out,and I thought it was definitely an odd movie to say the least. The storyline seemed very interesting, mostly because Timothy just sprouted up from the ground to be these folk's son for a while. That could only be interesting. The movie stars: Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, Cj Adams, Ron Livingston, Dianne Wiest, Odeya Rush, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, M. Emmet Walsh, Lois Smith, and Common. In the new flick, a happily married couple named Cindy and Jim Green are told they can't conceive children,so one day, they write down what type of child they would like to have and put it in a box. Then they buried it in the back yard. One night, a big storm goes down,...

This weekend, parents who want to take their children to the movies have two family-friendly options featuring rather misunderstood young boys: Disney's The Odd Life of Timothy Green and Focus Features' 3-D animated movie ParaNorman. In The Odd Life of Timothy Green, C.J. Adams (Dan in Real Life) plays a young boy literally wished into existence who sees life differently from the other boys his age. In ParaNorman, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In) lends his voice to Norman Babcock, a young boy in a small town who has the ability to see, and speak with, the dead.
We recently got a chance to speak with Jennifer Garner about playing Timothy's mother in The Odd Life, and she said that parents should allow their kids "to be funky" and "to have their eccentricities." Garner's sentiments were echoed by Smit-McPhee regarding his character in ParaNorman, explaining that Norman is "bullied because he's different,...

Just like in "Juno," Jennifer Garner wants to be a mom. In the upcoming family film "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," she and Joel Edgerton play a married couple who can't bear children. One day, they make a wish and magical little boy (C.J. Adams) comes into their lives. HitFix's Gregory Ellwood sat down with the star to discuss the film. Watch the video above. "This is the first time I really played a mom," Garner says, explaining what drew her to the project. She also notes that she loved the quirkiness of the script, while acknowledging the film's realist...
