Next year’s SXSW may still be months away, but the annual multi-pronged festival and conference gathering has already started rolling out a slew of impressive announcements. Next up, their third wave of Keynotes and Featured Speakers, plus 700 planned sessions for the 2017 event. Conference Keynotes now include filmmaker Gareth Edwards (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Godzilla” and “Monsters”); Adam Grant, author of “Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World”; Creative Director and L.A. Anchor for Beats 1, Zane Lowe; and Mt. Everest photographer Cory Richards. They join previously announced Keynotes, including Lee Daniels, Jennifer Doudna and Jill Soloway.
Featured Speakers now include “Transparent” actor Kathryn Hahn and global design icon Marc Jacobs, along with business and tech influencers Whitney Wolfe and Padmasree Warrior, covering subjects that range from user privacy to next-generation entertainment options.

Having been live and online for just over a week, the video has garnered well over 1.5 million views across multiple postings to a variety of video sharing sites (the YouTube version is currently just shy of a million) and generated a great deal of publicity, getting some prime real estate on the AOL Homepage, LaughingSquid, and the twitter feed of entrepreneur Guy Kawasaki.
Turns out we’ve all been duped (as is usually the case when something online nowadays seems too cool to be true, like that Japanese trend where individuals make their dogs look like Minecraft characters). "Welcome to Macintosh," an independent documentary about Apple's history and fan following, is being offered for download on the iTunes movie store, as well as on DVD, although the film was not authorized by Apple.
Apple personalities appearing in the film include Andy Hertzfeld, co-creator of the original Macintosh, Guy Kawasaki, longtime Mac evangelist and Leander Kahney, author of the book "Cult of Mac."
The film was co-directed by Rob Baca and Josh Rizzo.
To date, it has screened for more than 50 Macintosh user groups around the world and played at such festivals as the Wisconsin Film Festival, the Globians World and Culture Documentary Film Festival, the Naperville Independent Film Fest, the Texandance International Film Festival and the Cleveland Ingenuity Festival.
