Mexico is getting its own remake of “The Office.”
“La Oficina” comes from Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios and Gary “Gaz” Alazraki’s Máquina Vega, the companies announced Wednesday. It will be based off the cult hit BBC series starring Ricky Gervais that blossomed into the U.S. spinoff starring Steve Carell. Alazraki will serve as director and executive producer on the series, with Marcos Bucay as showrunner.
The show takes place in Aguascalientes at a family business called Jabones Olimpo. The office is run by Jerónimo Ponce III and like many bosses in these series, he’s in over his head. The rest of the employees are forced to deal with the headache of working for an unqualified manager.
The series is the latest remake to use the comedy mockumentary format. Prime Video – where “La Oficina” will stream exclusively in Latin America, Brazil and Spain – already launched an Australian version.

Amid headlines surrounding Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s tumultuous divorce settlement, the Gone Girl actor’s previous marriage with Jennifer Garner caught our attention. While on a recent note, Lopez is reportedly aiming to make Affleck suffer, it wasn’t the case for Garner when she and the actor divorced after 13 years of marriage.

Looking back at Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce, it seems the Air actor lost a gem in his Daredevil co-star. Because unlike Jennifer Lopez, who is supposedly adamant about exacting revenge—when Garner witnessed infidelity rumors surrounding Affleck, she took the high road to forgiveness and even supported the star through public outrage and hatred.

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s The Office has been remade once again, this time in Australia. Here’s the trailer.
Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s original version of The Office launched on the BBC in 2001. It introduced the world to boss from hell David Brent (Gervais) as he attempted to look good in front of the cameras documenting his workplace, paper merchants Wernham Hogg, alongside staff including Tim (Martin Freeman) Gareth (Mackenzie Crook) and Dawn (Lucy Davis).
All while trying to stay onside with bullying best mate Chris Finch (Ralph Ineson) and, in the second series, his new boss from the Swindon branch, Neil (Patrick Baladi).
Gervais and Merchant took cringe comedy to the extreme, with Brent becoming a byword for social awkwardness and inappropriate behaviour.
Since then, there have been 13 international versions, with Greg Daniels’ American version starring Steve Carrell being far and away the most successful,...

Comedian Robin Ince was the opener for Ricky Gervais comedy tours in the 2000s, a time when Gervais was at the height of his Office fame. Ince, who left comedy in 2015, says his time on stage with Gervais took a physical toll.
“I am not saying it is a traumatic experience, but after two weeks I came out in red lumps that my doctor said were a stress rash,” Ince recalled on the Starting Line podcast. “I think my hair was coming out in clumps.”
“I look back now, and I think it is bullying — really it is,” Ince says of his time working with Gervais. One example? Gervais used to make up a diary supposedly written by Ince. At a Christmas party, he read the fake musings aloud to the partygoers. “I forget how weird it is. I’m very good at sometimes just acclimatizing to things, in which you go,...

Ready to meet “Dog Man?”
The new DreamWorks Animation film, based on the character created by Dav Pilkey in the “Captain Underpants” books, is nearly here. And you can watch the trailer for the film, which stars Pete Davidson, Lil Rel Howery, Isla Fisher and Ricky Gervais, below, followed by our interview with the film’s director, Peter Hastings.
The trailer highlights the film’s unique visual style, which Hastings described as “high-end handmade” before breaking down his team’s approach to bringing “Dog Man” to life.
Hastings is no stranger to the property; he did a “Captain Underpants” television series and developed a relationship with Pilkey. Hastings told TheWrap the movie is “really about a cop and a dog who get into an accident, and the way that they solve this problem is by sewing the dog’s head onto the man’s body, which sounds crazy and preposterous.

If vicious comedy roasts are back in vogue, no one told Emmy host Eugene Levy. The last thing he wants is to be cruel to his fellow celebrities. “It’s always hit me in a funny way when jokes are done at the expense of people who are nominated,” Levy told the Los Angeles Times, as reported by Variety. “They’ve put in the work, and it’s their night, really, and you have to have enough respect for the awards show itself. Otherwise, why are we here?”
So if Levy isn’t going to stick it to Shogun and The Bear, how is he approaching hosting duties? “Just paying tribute to television, certainly the nominees, but to the medium that gave us both our starts,” he explained.
Will the ceremony will turn into a schmoozefest? Levy’s son and Schitt’s Creek co-star Dan will be sharing host duties — and...

Actors and actresses getting compensated fairly and equally for the work they do for cinema without any discrimination and prejudice has long been a raging topic in the industry, and Sophie Turner has also been a vocal activist for the same. On numerous occasions, she didn’t hesitate to speak up about the unfair and unjust measures prevailing in Hollywood’s entertainment industry.

But when it came to Kit Harington’s tremendous salary for the Game of Thrones live-action lore, in which he starred alongside her as the iconic Jon Snow, Turner wasn’t one to complain. However, just like her resourceful, honorable, and intelligent character Sansa Stark in the series, Turner being silent about this wasn’t without very good reasoning.

Nikki Glaser is perhaps best known for being a comedian and an actress — and now a Golden Globes host — but did you know she’s also an accomplished singer? “It was the first dream I ever had in wanting to be a performer,” she revealed in 2022 after being voted out of “The Masked Singer” while wearing a Snowstorm costume (watch above). Glaser’s musical chops brought her all the way to the Semi-Finals during Season 8 of Fox’s wild and wacky reality TV, but alas, she was bested by Amber Riley as Harp and Wilson Phillips as Lambs.
As the hilarious Roast legend explained at the time, her dream of singing “was squashed at such a young age and it just became something that was not attainable to me.” She added, “When this opportunity came up, it was so perfect. I think what held me back was the fact that...

Just because today’s big headline — “Nikki Glaser to Host the Golden Globes” — feels like it was inevitable, that doesn’t make it any less exciting or deserved.
In May, comedian Nikki Glaser wiped the annoyingly-perfect smile right off of Tom Brady’s smug, beautiful face at Netflix’s live-streaming event “The Roast of Tom Brady.” Though a case could be made that Tony Hinchcliffe (“Kill Tony”) or possibly even Andrew Schulz had (marginally) better jabs, it was Glaser who grabbed the headlines. And then she kept grabbing them: Rave reviews of her monologue by viewers and critics — and most importantly, her fellow comics — led to a whirlwind of press requests for Glaser, including here at IndieWire.
In many of those interviews, Glaser was asked about hosting a primetime awards show. She was in, she said, and now she’s in as host of the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. What...

The Office is going Down Under! Here’s what to know about the Australian version of the classic comedy!
The Office has had a fascinating history. Premiering in England in 2001, it was a mockumentary about a paper company branch with Ricky Gervais in his star-making role as its manager. Much of the comedy stemmed from Gervais believing he was a respected boss loved by his peers when he was really an incompetent, arrogant jerk.
The show’s impact has been felt as adaptations have been seen in over a dozen countries around the world. The most famous is the NBC version that ran nine seasons and made stars out of Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, and more.
There are plans for a sequel series called The Paper to air on Peacock in 2025. But before that, Prime Video will release the Australian take on the show that offers...

The Office's 2024 Australian spinoff just revealed the first look at Steve Carell's replacement—or, at least, the woman who will be the boss.
The Office first originated in the United Kingdom with the show being created by, and starring, Ricky Gervais. Gervais played David Brent, a general manager at a paper merchant whose antics lead to an eventful and chaotic work environment.
Most people, however, will know the United States reboot of the series which first aired in March 2005 and went on for nine seasons. That's where Steve Carell's iconic role of Michael Scott, the boss at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, was born.

Ricky Gervais is easily one of the most successful celebrities in the entire entertainment industry, being an actor, comedian, TV director/producer, screenwriter, film director/producer, and Disc jockey all in one. Not only is he super famous for his brutal trolling of Hollywood, but even the hit films and TV series he has created and starred in add to his commendable feats.

Marge (Julie Kavner) is sent to live with the dandyish Charles Heathbar (Ricky Gervais), while Homer welcomes Charles' stern wife Verity (Tress MacNeille). Over the course of the episode, Charles develops a crush on Marge, while Verity will begin developing a romance with Marge's sister, Patty (Kavner).

The almost-cast list for the character of Michael Scott on The Office (US) is long and illustrious. In the run up to filming the remake’s pilot episode, Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk was in contention for the part, as were Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti and Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman. US comedy stars Patton Oswalt, Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson and more all were auditioned (see the evidence here), before Steve Carrell made the role undeniably his own.
Another name to add to that already starry list? Ricky Gervais.
The Office co-creator and star was quick to rubbish the idea, as he told British TV producers Peter Fincham and Jon Plowman in a 2021 episode of BBC comedy podcast What’s Funny About…, but was apparently offered the remake’s lead role in very early discussions. Gervais described getting his first phonecall from US producer Ben Silverman about a potential remake, and...

It’s not surprising that certain nefarious individuals would try to impersonate the rich and famous, like the time a Bradley Cooper lookalike conned his way into the Sundance Film Festival, and even performed a DJ set at a party before he was kicked out and presumably left to die in the bitter Park City cold.
But one highly-publicized faux-celebrity scam involved a crook impersonating a more unlikely celebrity: Ricky Gervais.
What was this guy hoping to steal by impersonating the star of The Office and Extras? Beer? A lifetime supply of surprisingly tight black T-shirts? The contempt of every Hollywood awards show audience?
Back in 2003, an “East London bullion dealer” named Anthony Baird was contacted by a man claiming to be Gervais, who was looking to buy 60 pounds-worth of gold for a whopping £195,480. Which is weird, but probably not that weird considering most celebrity purchases.

NBC's "The Office" may now be considered one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history, but when the network first announced its plans to produce an Americanized version of the critically acclaimed BBC series, the reaction from fans of the original was far from joyous. Ricky Gervais and Stephan Merchant's "Office" was spiky and profane in a way that network shows simply couldn't be (thanks to their companies' Standards and Practice watchdogs). It was also narratively compact, running a mere two seasons and 14 episodes (counting the two-part Christmas special), which kept the show from getting stale. Most of all, it just felt kind of perfect (which Gervais proved when he tried to revive the series himself). A U.S. rendition stretched out over 20-plus episodes per season was bound to pale in comparison.
Though NBC's "The Office" got off to a rocky start with its six-episode toe-dip of a first season,...

There once was a time when U.K. comedy legend Ricky Gervais directed his most vicious and vitriolic jokes toward the sanctimonious and self-righteous members of the high A-list. Today, he much prefers going after people like Suzy Izzard.
Though it’s only been a little over four years since Gervais last hosted the Golden Globes, it feels like it’s been ages since the awards show’s most hostile and cutting presenter went viral for insulting a celebrity (or many celebrities) who deserved to go down a few pegs. In the 63-year-old Gervais’ most recent project, the Netflix special Armageddon, which was released on Christmas day, the comedy icon came off as a grumpy old man, desperate to be controversial once again, trying to manipulate the machinations of the ever-nebulous and, apparently, all-powerful “Cancel Culture” into making him trend on Twitter. “Ricky Gervais: Mortality” is set to launch later this year and run until the end of 2025, “taking in all of Gervais’s favorite arenas around the world,” per a press release. The special will also be filmed for release on Netflix.
“We’re all gonna die. May as well have a laugh about it. Mortality looks at the absurdities of life. And death. Bring it on,” Gervais said in a statement.
Gervais and Netflix have had a robust partnership together, as his most recent special for them, “Armageddon,” won a Golden Globe, spent time at No. 1 on Netflix’s most-watched list, and holds the world record for the highest-grossing comedy special of all time.

Not long after Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck separated, rumors began to surface that Affleck was having an affair with the couple’s nanny. While Affleck vehemently denied this, his alleged infidelity was the subject of a joke at the Golden Globes. While introducing Affleck’s longtime friend Matt Damon, host Ricky Gervais referenced the affair rumors. Garner shared what it was like to hear the joke.

At the 2016 Golden Globe Awards, Gervais welcomed Damon to the stage. He referred to the actor as “the only person who Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to.” Garner, who won a Golden Globe in 2002 for her work in Alias, admitted to watching the ceremony. She said the comment didn’t sting, though.

Hollywood actors often have their careers reduced to one major role. Having said that, isn’t it compelling how an iconic character like Batman can bring an actor everlasting fame, but also conceal the breadth of their versatility? Val Kilmer, known widely for donning the dark mask of the Caped Crusader, embodies this paradox with remarkable grace.
Prior to making his breakthrough in the 1980s with roles in comedies such as Real Genius and Top Secret, Val Kilmer began his acting career on stage. The acclaimed sequel to Top Gun, in which he reprised the role of Iceman, has brought him back into the spotlight.

Despite his early breakthrough, Kilmer charted a different course, circling the universe of TV—save for a voice role as Kitt in the Knight Rider reboot and brief stints on shows like Ghost Girls and The Spoils of Babylon.

Nothing much has changed in Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating preferences since breaking out in the ’90s. While lauded as one of the best actors of our time, for years, the Oscar winner has been a part of a running joke of being incapable of dating anyone above the age of 25. Although it’s entirely possible that this might be a coincidence, it’s hard to ignore the pattern.
But fans aren’t alone when it comes to making memes and jokes about the actor’s alleged dating pattern, as acclaimed singer and actor Sabrina Carpenter too joins the meme train.

Showrunner Greg Daniels’ sequel to hit sitcom The Office has been commissioned for a series at Peacock. Domhnall Gleeson will lead the ensemble cast.
There have been repeated talks of a revival of the American version of The Office revival in the years since it concluded. Given the success of the show, it seemed to be a question not of if, but when. We now have the answer.
Greg Daniels, who developed the American remake and served as showrunner for the majority of its nine seasons, has co-created a sequel series with Michael Konan.
Described as being “set in the same universe” as The Office, the description, via Deadline, reads as follows:
The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.

The beloved sitcom Seinfeld was famously never canceled, because co-creator Jerry Seinfeld and his fellow cast members decided they should walk away after nine seasons, leaving viewers wanting more. But for about a decade, Seinfeld has continuously complained that “political correctness” is stifling comedy of the kind that made him a household name and fabulously wealthy.
As long ago as 2015 — right around when our contemporary ideas of “cancel culture” were beginning to take shape on social media — Seinfeld was talking about not playing college campuses for fear of students labeling his material racist or sexist.

Cancel culture has existed since the end of the olde worlde and the beginning of the new. Persecution and witch hunts have evolved into a more technologically savvy practice of removing whatever subverts the mob mentality. Now, it seems like The Office has become the latest victim to fall into the clutches of cancel culture.
The Office [Courtesy: BBC]Ricky Gervais’ show was always a series packed with risks, the bold statement of work existing even to this day speaks to its nature. However, the threat of criticism always looms and it’s only a matter of time until the sentiment of the masses gets strong enough to justify its cancelation and remove it completely from pop culture.
Ricky Gervais Sets the Record Straight for The Office
The notorious David Brent, who is known for his crass sexist and racist jabs, has mostly targeted his well-meaning, generously of sound mind, and moderately educated employees.

‘Fantastic Four’ is set to be the next big movie in the MCU. Just a few days ago, the release date and cast were announced. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby will be Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach will portray The Thing, and Joseph Quinn will take on the role of the Human Torch. Filming is scheduled to start this summer. Due to a change in the release date, ‘Thunderbolts’ will now come out earlier than expected, on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there’s still no news about who the villain might be. While most of the main roles are filled, there are still smaller parts to cast. Rumors suggest that Marvel Studios is looking for a comedian to play the role of H.E.R.B.I.E.

‘Fantastic Four’ is currently the hottest upcoming MCU movie only a few days ago release date and cast were announced, confirming what we’ve known for quite a while. And while most of the main cast has been revealed there are plenty of smaller roles that are yet to be filled and recently according to rumors Marvel Studios expressed the desire for a comedia to play a role of H.

A cause of death was not given. Ricky Gervais, who co-created and starred in the seminal comedy series, took to social media to pay tribute to his former co-star. “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. Rip,” Gervais posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, February 21. Extremely sad news.

The cause of death was not immediately known.
“The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away,” show creator Ricky Gervais wrote on X. “An absolute original. Rip.”
The actor played accountant Keith Bishop in The Office and later reunited with Gervais on Netflix series After Life. MacIntosh also had roles in such U.K. comedies as Miranda and Little Britain.
His deadpan performances in The Office quickly made MacIntosh’s Keith an audience favorite. In one popular scene with Martin Freeman, the accountant takes a large bite out of a Scotch egg while his opposite talks about performing a sexual act on himself.
MacIntosh also appeared in movies.

Ricky Gervais does not hold back when he makes jokes, and the reason why he has been chosen to host the Golden Globe five times is because he might say something wildly offensive and controversial that would steal everyone’s attention. Indeed, every time he goes up the stage, some of his jokes would land and some would miss.

The Academy’s tendency to award trophies to Holocaust movies has long been whispered about — and even occasionally joked about by cheeky comedians.
In 2009, shortly after Kate Winslet won a Golden Globe for her performance as a former Auschwitz guard in “The Reader,” presenter Ricky Gervais pointed to her in the audience and deadpanned, “I told ya, do a Holocaust movie; the awards come.”
Winslet, who would go on to receive an Academy Award for her part in Stephen Daldry’s film, had several years earlier appeared on Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s HBO comedy “Extras” as an actor who stars in a film about the Holocaust in the hopes that it will earn her an Oscar.
The night of the Globes, Winslet laughed at Gervais’ ribbing, as did many in the crowd. It was a much a jab at the industry as much as it was at her.
