Co-directors Dominic Brunt and Jamie Lundy open their film on a moment of familial bliss, as a mother enjoys time on the beach with her two young children, Evie and Tony. As she leaves to put on dinner at their nearby home, she asks the children to not stay long on the beach. Her departure is followed by foreboding shots of the water and creepy whispering before the inquisitive Evie vanishes for a bit. She returns drastically changed, now reacting with violence and acting possessively over a strange item she found. Her altered self leaves the family shattered, as they are unable to cope with the young girl’s actions.

I am always very much excited when the film-making duo Dominic Brunt and Joanne Mitchell have a new film coming out. They have proved themselves again and again when it comes to horror and the variety of ways they can creep audiences out. From the often subtle but great zombie movie Before Dawn, to the at times brutal revenge thriller Bait to the bizarre but brilliant Attack of the Killer Babies. Next up, they tackle the werewolf subgenre with Scream of the Wolf.
Scream of the Wolf shows a new vampire movie being shot in an old abandoned house but with a full moon in the sky some of the cast and crew go missing and a wolf seems like the most obvious culprit.

You can’t make a good werewolf movie without a good werewolf, and the upcoming indie feature Scream of the Wolf looks to feature a pretty damn cool one. The monster was created by special make-up effects artist Shaune Harrison (“Game of Thrones”), Rue Morgue informs us this week, and you can unleash the beast by watching the trailer below.
Dominic Brunt‘s Scream of the Wolf bites into Digital and DVD on June 13, 2023.
In the film, “Making a vampire movie in an old, abandoned house should have been easy, but with the full moon, the nightmare begins. The body count rises as the cast and crew encounter the mansion’s resident werewolf, and by daylight, only the lucky will survive.”
James Fleet, Jay Taylor, and Thaila Zucchi star.

Now the German website Filmportal has revealed a plot synopsis for Gans’ Return to Silent Hill, and where filming is going to take place!
According to the website, Return to Silent Hill has the following synopsis (using an online German to English translator): Driven by the shadows of his past, James Sunderland returns to Silent Hill to find his lost love, Mary Crane. But the dark, depressing small town is no longer the place from his memories. He meets characters who seem all too familiar and who try to divert him from his search for Mary. The longer he searches for Mary, the more he begins to wonder...

Joanne Mitchell has racked up more than thirty screen acting credits over the course of a career that goes back thirty years – and Deadline reports that she is now making her feature directorial debut with a psychological horror film called Sybil! Filming is underway in Belgrade, with Rebecca Calder (Wrath of Man) starring alongside James Fleet (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Sacharissa Claxton (Sandman), Rupert Proctor (Notting Hill), Robyn Rainsford (Letters to April), and Jay Taylor (Red Tails).
Mitchell crafted the story for Sybil with Tracey Sheals, and even directed a 12 minute short version of the concept a few years ago. Dominic Brunt (the 2021 thriller Evie) has written the screenplay for the feature version of Sybil, which will be a twisted tale of a lonely mortician and her macabre quest for the perfect family. The Mortician’s life can be a lonely one. But there are always opportunities for love and revenge.

Exclusive: IFC Films has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to Out Of Blue. The Carol Morley written and directed crime drama had its premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in theaters sometime next year. Patricia Clarkson (The Green Mile), Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom), James Caan (Misery), Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), and Mamie Gummer (End Of Tour) star.
Based on the novel by Martin Amis, the story follows a New Orleans homicide detective Mike Hoolihan (Clarkson) as she investigates the shooting of leading astrophysicist and black hole expert Jennifer Rockwell (Gummer). Mike is rarely affected by what she sees – but something about this scene affects her, flooding her senses and completely overwhelming her. As she gets deeper into the case, her quest for the truth completely shakes her view of the universe, and ultimately herself.
Luc Roeg, Cairo Cannon, and Maggie Monteith produced the pic.

“There’s much we can’t see, detect or comprehend, yet we spend our lives trying to get to the heart of this dark energy.” That’s the chilling threat at the start of the first clip (above) for Carol Morley’s Patricia Clarkson-fronted neo-noir detective drama Out of Blue.
The film, which is based on Martin Amis’ novel, plays in the Platform section of Tiff and premieres on Friday September 7 at 9:30pm in the Winter Garden Theater.
Clarkson plays Mike Hoolihan in the neo-noir metaphysical mystery. She’s a homicide detective called to investigate the shooting of leading astrophysicist and black hole expert, Jennifer Rockwell. But once on the case, she’s affected in ways she struggles to comprehend.
Jacki Weaver, James Caan, Toby Jones, Aaron Tveit, Mamie Gummer, Jonathan Majors and Devyn A Tyler also star in the crime drama from the helmer of The Falling.

The phrase from which this film takes its name is likely familiar to many who have been to college in the past decade or who know someone from a fraternity. The film, in fact, broaches the subject in much the way I imagine most of us originally heard it: via flirtatious talk about over-the-top and almost certainly unreal sexual maneuvers. Donkey Punch takes this and turns it into a reality that conforms with what doctors would tell you about the move, which is that not only does it have no basis in reality, but it’s also potentially lethal. In the film, it most certainly is the latter.

Since you’re reading this review at Fangoria.com, you’ve probably already ascertained that this movie’s title does not refer to an animated romp about a lovable burro. Yet neither is this an animal-gone-rabidly-amok horror film, which would have represented a more credible guess.
Instead, as this suspense thriller reveals to the hitherto uninformed, a “donkey punch” is a nasty physical act instigated during an intimate moment between (up until that point) consenting adults. To this viewer, the film’s comparably described “tarmac” sounds even worse, but it carries a far lower risk of fatality, and Tarmac would not a movie (or a movie title) make. In any case, Donkey Punch seeks to wade (more on that later) into violent thriller mode rather than wallow in sexually explicit situations. As such, it only fitfully lands its…er, punches.
