Stars: Randall Park, Ali Wong, James Saito, Michelle Buteau, Vivian Bang, Keanu Reeves, Susan Park, Daniel Dae Kim, Karan Soni, Charlyne Yi, Lyrics Born, Casey Wilson | Written by Michael Golamco, Randall Park, Ali Wong | Directed by Nahnatchka Khan
Always Be My Maybe, a slight riff on the famous Mariah Carey song, is directed by Nahnatchka Khan and comes from the minds of both Randall Park and Ali Wong. The two performers play former inseparable neighbouring best friends who go their separate ways after an awkward encounter in their teens but are suddenly thrown back together after a calculated encounter decades after. Finding their respective lives going in completely opposite directions. Always Be My Maybe is perhaps the best comedy released this year with fantastic engaging chemistry between the two leads of Ali Wong and Randall Park with superb writing that balances tone brilliantly.
The comedy here from Park and Wong is outstanding.

Ali Wong And Randall Park’s Netflix Rom-Com ‘Always Be My Maybe’ Sets Premiere Date, Releases Teaser
The ’90s are back and they haven’t sounded and looked any better. Netflix released a teaser for the upcoming rom-com Always Be My Maybe starring Ali Wong and Randall Park which also announced the release date of May 31 — which is a great way to end Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
Set to Mariah Carey’s song on which the movie’s title is based, we get some serious ’90s fashion, haircuts and dance moves, the rom-com explores the premise of “the friend zone” and the comedic duo of Wong and Park makes it wildly worthwhile. Netflix, Wong, and Park all posted the teaser on their Instagram accounts to give us a peek at what to expect from the comedy.
In Always Be My Maybe, childhood friends Sasha (Wong) and Marcus (Park) have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years. But when Sasha, now a celebrity chef in Los Angeles,...

Netflix have announced that John Wick star Keanu Reeves is to join Ali Wong and Randall Park on their new comedy, Always Be My Maybe.
The project follows two childhood sweethearts who have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years. They reconnect as adults when Wong’s character — a celebrity chef opening a restaurant in San Francisco — runs into Park’s character, a happily struggling musician still living at home working for his dad. The old sparks are still there, but can they adapt to each other’s world? It is currently unclear which role Reeves will be playing.
Nahnatchka Khan – who has previously worked with Park and Wong on Fresh Off the Boat – will direct from a script by Wong, Park and Michael Golamco. The production also stars Michelle Buteau, Vivian Bang, Karan Soni, Charlyne Yi, Daniel Dae Kim, James Saito, Lyrics Born and Susan Park.

As Guardians Of The Galaxy gears up for its Blu-ray/DVD release, director James Gunn has shared an alternate soundtrack to the film which he's dubbed "Awesome Mix Volume Zero". These songs are much more high energy and definitely a little more obscure than most of the classics from Volume 1, but there's a few great tunes in there. Take a look, see which ones you recognize and if there's any you don't, get listening! 1. Never Wanted to Dance - Mindless Self Indulgence 2. Party Hard - Andrew W.K. 3. The Way It Was - Aceyalone (feat Bionik) 4. I Like It, I Love It - Lyrics Born 5. Let's Dance to Joy Division - The Wombats 6. Start Wearing Purple - Gogol Bordello 7. Ben Vereen - Pigeon John 8. Teenagers - My Chemical Romance 9. Black Fist - Juskwam and Lyrikill 10. Timebomb - The Old 97's Here's what Gunn had to say about this new compilation: On lighter days,...

The soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy set a record this year by becoming the first to top the charts without any new songs on it, and the album – Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 – has since been certified gold. Now director James Gunn, who selected the record's songs and even wrote them into the script, has shared a playlist for a new mixtape, Awesome Mix Volume Zero, which features music by more contemporary artists, like Andrew W.K., the Old 97's and Lyrics Born, than the Seventies-centric artists of its predecessor.

San Francisco -- "When you invited me to join your event, I was hoping I would fit in," said Chief Golden Light Eagle, a member of the Ihunktowan Dakota Nation, looking out over the crowd of festivalgoers dressed in Burning Man-inspired attire. "But I seem to have forgotten my costume."
The chief led a traditional Sun Dance ceremony, one of several eclipse celebrations at the Symbiosis Gathering.
Participants honored the four directions with water from the nearby lake, sand from the desert at their feet and tobacco smoke from Chief Golden Light Eagle's pipe. The crowd grew quiet as the moon moved into position, finally offering viewers a perfect ring of fire. The reverence was palpable.
But an hour later, as the moon slipped beyond sun, the beat dropped on James Blake's headlining set on the other side of the event, launching a party that lasted until morning. As...

If you've never been to San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Park then you may not know that it's the kind of place where barefoot types are very likely to break out into spontaneous dance between bouts of stick juggling and hula hooping.
Which is why the lineup for the 2011 Outside Lands Music & Art Festival is perfect for the historic patch of green in the City by the Bay. The fourth annual edition of the fest, scheduled for August 12-14, will be headlined by Muse, Phish (who will play two sets), Arcade Fire, the Black Keys, Mgmt, the Decemberists, Erykah Badu and the Warren Haynes Band.
That eclectic mix of jam-band, techno, indie-rock and arena powerhouses reflects the sonic diversity on the rest of the bill,...

From early Lollapalooza to this year's Coachella, hip-hop has always had a place at major U.S. music gatherings.

American music fans had to chuckle back in 2008, when former Oasis co-founder Noel Gallagher raised a giant stink about Jay-z headlining the venerable Glastonbury Festival. Honestly? Hip-hop doesn't belong at big festivals? C'mon, Noel.
Well, we'll see how much water that big cup of righteous indignation holds in the next few days as fans of Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival weigh in on the news that not one, but two hip-hop legends — Eminem and Lil Wayne — will top a bill that features a dozen other rappers sprinkled in among the usual cadre of jam-friendly acts, indie faves and the usual classic rock big fish.
While Bonnaroo's organizers have long shunned the "jam-band" festival tag, the annual steamy gathering on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee,...

This just in: Rapper discovers synthesizers, makes album! On his latest, As U Were, Bay Area backpack-rap pioneer Lyrics Born imagines himself as he never was: the rapping, scatting, singing, high-energy frontman of a synth-pop/nü-funk band just waiting for its close-up. For nearly two decades, he’s had a golden reputation in the underground, not only for helping found the Quannum Projects label with DJ Shadow and Blackalicious, but for his inimitable flow—a raspy, jazz-inflected thing that can shift gears effortlessly from rich crooning to triple-time multi-syllabic flow with nary a bump. But it wouldn’t hurt ...

Never in the history of moviedom has there been such a pointless & excruciatingly embarrassing Ost as the new Friday the 13th soundtrack. Think of it as a mix tape created by 13 different people (13 tracks! Get it? Wow. They are so clever) of varied ages and social arrangements. None if it makes any sense! I know that they had to force these into the movie to establish character and setting and topicality but come on! Everyone who gets this soundtrack will only like one of the songs at best.
I am bored to tears over Platinum Dunes cookie cutter remake layouts. They offer nothing new to the genre. They are made solely for the purpose of getting kids in the theaters. They demean everything and everyone around them. They are the death of the new horror film because every established classic they remake, kids will pour right in.
I’m sorry,...

Side projects benefit from the low expectations that generally treat them as little more than one-off goofs. But Droppin' Science Fiction, the debut by The Mighty Underdogs (featuring Blackalicious' Gift Of Gab, Lateef The Truth Speaker, and producer Headnodic of Crown City Rockers) doesn't need to be graded on a curve: It's the rare supergroup that's actually super. Though it dabbles in the blues (with the tellingly titled "So Sad" and "Escape"), the overriding emotion is fun verging on joy. Gab and Lateef let their imaginations run wild on trippy story-songs in which they pretend they're terrifying beasties ("Monster"), head back to the Old West alongside noted varmint Mf Doom for an atmospheric spaghetti Western ("Gun Fight"), and hook up with Quannum mate Lyrics Born to discuss wacky travel shenanigans on the infectiously goofy "Ill Vacation." Headnodic crafts lush, melodic backdrops for Gab and Lateef's flights of lyrical...
