Gianpiero Cognoli

Known for his engaging on-screen villains, award-winning actor Gianpiero Cognoli was born in Rome, the only child of an Italian mâitre d' and Yugoslavian social worker. Based in London, he was raised in Toronto where he showed an interest in acting from an early age.
After attending William L. Mackenzie Collegiate Institute, he completed a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in business, both at York University, and moved to Italy where he began studying acting. His debut performance in Acaluma won the film several awards and kicked off his acting career, leading to his breakout role in HBO's Game of Thrones, alongside Emmy-nominee Emilia Clarke.
He is best known for his roles in Oscar-winner The Great Beauty, Warner Bros' Justice League -- alongside Billy Crudup -- MGM TV's Four Weddings and a Funeral -- opposite Nikesh Patel -- and as real-life detective Phil Gentile in StudioCanal's drama series On Death Row (En el corredor de la muerte).
Gianpiero is a native speaker of English, Italian, and Serbian and also speaks Spanish and French.
