Chris Hemsworth’s hit action franchise, “Extraction,” is getting a third adventure. The action star and director Sam Hargrave made the announcement at Netflix’s Tudum event on Saturday, following the June 16 premiere of “Extraction 2.”
The first two films center on black ops mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth). In the first film, Tyler takes on a mission to save an Indian crime lord’s son, but it pushes him to the brink of death. “Extraction 2” picks up with Tyler recovering from the assignment, but then he decides to embark on another risky task in order to save the family of a famed Georgian gangster.
Hargrave, whose directorial debut was the first “Extraction,” has lent his stunt expertise to the franchise’s second film as well. The stuntman-turned-director stunned fans with the sequel’s use of a singular shot for a 21-minute action sequence.

The official trailer for Extraction 2 has Chris Hemsworth returning from near death as black ops mercenary Tyler Rake in another brutal display of power when he is personally requested for a rescue mission.
As is explained in the high-octane footage (below), Rake was clinically dead nine months ago. But he fought his way back and now, he just has to find out why.
Rake’s deadly mission follows his surviving the events of the original film and in the sequel aiming to rescue the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from prison against impossible odds. Hemsworth continues such death-defying stunts in the nonstop, brutal and bloody Extraction 2 trailer.
The original Extraction thriller saw the Australian mercenary mourn the death of his son while rescuing the kidnapped son of an imprisoned Indian drug kingpin. Rake then seemingly died in the original Extraction, which hit Netflix in 2020, but a...

Sam Hargrave returns to direct Hemsworth in more breathtakingly brutal action scenes for this year’s Extraction 2.

Action is back, baby! While John Wick: Chapter 4 is blasting through the box office with a Dragon’s Breath shotgun, Chris Hemsworth also returns with his own fight and stunt spectacular with the Netflix sequel, Extraction 2. In the original, we are introduced to Tyler Rake, a mercenary who had taken on the assignment of seeking and rescuing the kidnapped son of a prisoned, international crime lord. Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake is very much alive in the first trailer for “Extraction 2,” the sequel to the hit 2020 Netflix actioner that ended with Hemsworth’s mercenary left for dead.
Sam Hargrave returns to direct “Extraction 2,” which finds Rake tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. Indeed, the sequel trades the sweaty Bangladesh landscape of the first film for snowy Georgia.
The teaser offers up a bit on how Rake survived the end of “Extraction,” but the bulk of the footage is a long shot in which Rake fights his way through a barrage of baddies.
When released in 2020, “Extraction” quickly became one of the most-watched Netflix original films ever, and the streamer quickly greenlit a sequel.
Joe and Anthony Russo’s Agbo produces “Extraction 2” and Joe Russo wrote the script.

Chris Hemsworth may play the God of Thunder on the big screen, but there is a huge difference between looking like a superhero and actually being one. That's what the "Thor: Love and Thunder" star had to learn while filming his new Disney+ show, "Limitless," which sees him performing a series of (pretty literally) death-defying acts in a quest to figure out how far humans can push themselves in the hope of achieving longevity. But the difference between Thor and Hemsworth? The actor's bones break, and that's where Marvel steps in.
In an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to promote "Limitless," Hemsworth revealed that he actually busted his ankle while filming one of the show's episodes. The accident occurred during a particularly intense stunt that involved climbing to the top of a cable car using only a rope whilst suspended 100 feet below the dangling car. Hemsworth regaled Kimmel with the following tale:

Thor is going country.
TheWrap reports that Chris Hemsworth will produce and star in the movie based on Steve Earle's book, I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive. The 2011 novel by the Grammy-winning country star tells a fictional tale of Toby "Doc" Ebersole, the physician accused of giving Hank Williams a fatal dose of morphine. Ten years after the country music pioneer's death, his doctor is without a license and is supporting his own morphine habit by performing illegal abortions. Feeding his addiction further, Ebersole is haunted by Williams' ghost.

(Cbr) While his "Thor" co-star is gearing up to play country singer Hank Williams in the near future, Chris Hemsworth is backing a decidedly different take on the music legend. TheWrap reports the actor has signed on to produce and star in "I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive," based on the 2011 novel by singer Steve Earle. The story follows a fictionalized version of the “doctor” who contributed to Williams’ untimely death in 1953. Ten years later, the now morphine-addicted Toby “Doc” Ebersole is haunted by the country crooner’s ghost, who picks away at his conscience. While the producer role marks a new step in Hemsworth’s career, he’s not going into uncharted territory alone. "I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive" will be helmed by first-time writer-director Benjamin Grayson, who served as Kenneth Branagh’s assistant on "Thor." And as the project comes together,...

The Tom Hiddleston-starring Hank Williams biopic "I Saw The Light" is coming up, but it won't be the only movie revolving around the country legend. Loki's foil Thor, aka Chris Hemsworth, will produce and star in "I'll Never Get Out Of The World Alive," based on the novel by rocker Steve Earle. It's the fictional story of "Toby 'Doc' Ebersole, who's haunted by the ghost of Hank Williams following his involvement in the country singer's mysterious death in 1953. After his medical license is revoked, the story picks up 10 years later in the red-light district of San Antonio, Texas, where Doc supports his morphine habit by performing illegal medical procedures. Hank's ghost serves a demented Jiminy Cricket, visiting Doc often whether he's wanted or not." Benjamin Grayson will make his directorial debut on the movie, named after Williams' famous final single. [The Wrap] The "Underworld" franchise is being rebooted, and so instead of a.

Bizarre as it may sound, Thor co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are both now attached to projects involving country music legend Hank Williams. The latter, who plays the villainous Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is actually playing the singer-songwriter in an upcoming biopic called I Saw The Light, and now news has come that the former, the God of Thunder himself, will be seeing hallucinations of the great cowboy crooner in his newest project. News is coming from The Wrap that Chris Hemsworth has optioned the film rights to the Steve Earle novel I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive, and has plans to both produce a movie adaptation and star in the lead role. An indie-budgeted project that will be written and directed by first-time filmmaker Benjamin Grayson, the book tells the story of Toby .Doc. In a move that could generate some inspired cross-cinematic synergy, Thor star Chris Hemsworth is attached to produce and headline the drama I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive. Based on the debut novel from actor and musician Steve Earle (The Wire), the film is about Doc Ebersole, a man struggling with his own demons many years after he was travelling with country star Hank Williams and the singer died.
Ebersole may have been the one to give Williams that fatal morphine dose, as the protagonist is also an addict who lost his medical license and lives in San Antonio’s red-light district. There, he performs some illegal abortions and other operations, and befriends Mexican immigrant Graciela, who has the power to heal others with the touch of her hand.

If you thought the most beloved music on Asgard was something involving massive trumpets, think again. Apparently it was the soulful country sound of Hank Williams. How else to explain that, on the heels of Tom “Loki” Hiddleston gearing up to play the country legend himself, his on-screen brother Chris Hemsworth will produce and star in a fictional film about the ill-fated crooner’s doctor?Former Thor director's assistant Benjamin Grayson is the driving force behind the project, directing his own adaptation of Steve Earle’s novel. The story dramatizes what happened to Toby “Doc” Ebersole, who was involved in the singer’s mysterious death in 1953.With his medical license yanked, the film finds Ebersole living in Texas 10 years later, performing illegal medical procedures in the red light district to support a morphine habit. Williams’ ghost regularly haunts him, acting as an oft-unwanted conscience. In our dark hearts, we're pulling...

If you go see Stars In Shorts expecting to see Colin Firth in casual cargos from Lands End or Julia Styles wearing skin-tight Daisy Dukes, you’ll be disappointed. They’re not that kind of shorts, but they are those kinds of stars, so if you go expecting to see great acting and fine filmmaking, you’ll be rewarded. On the heels of the annual Oscar Nominated Short Films program, ShortsHD presents Stars In Shorts, a collection of short films featuring some of the world’s biggest actors. Many times you only see these films at festivals so I highly recommend the opportunity to see these presented together on the big screen. There is no consistent thread to the seven films other than they star famous actors including some Oscar winners.

We've seen romantic short film anthologies with all-star casts like Paris, je t'aime and New York, I Love You, but this new one doesn't seem to have much effort put into it. Rather than being a series of shorts with a common theme, it seems like this is a collection of some random short films with a lot of big names in an attempt to reel in an audience. It doesn't help that this film is only getting a limited release and this is the first we're hearing of it just two weeks before it arrives, but some audiences might want to see shorts with Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hiddleston, Julia Stiles and more. Watch? Here's the first trailer for Stars in Shorts, originally from YouTube (via The Film Stage): Jay Kamen, Chris Foggin, Benjamin Grayson, Robert Festinger, Rupert Friend, Neil Labute and Jacob Chase direct...

Moving up from P.A., assistant or lower-rung pleeb is a long tradition in Hollywood. Say what you will about the industry (and we surely have), but those with ambition and talent generally rise above their station because almost everyone is willing to hear a good idea (especially in a place that's bereft of creative ideas; new concepts always have currency). Case in point with Benjamin Grayson. He's the former assistant of five-time Oscar nominee Kenneth Branagh-turned-filmmaker and he's directed his sophomore short film that includes a bevy of well-known stars. The short features Branagh and it's called, "Prodigal," a sci-fi thriller that revolves around a father trying to free his supernaturally gifted daughter from the clutches of a private firm and the paranormal branch of the Government. Above is a first look image of Branagh and Grayson on set. Industry screenings take place in L.A. this weekend...
