You know exactly what you’re getting into with a film like The Disco Exorcist, especially given that the film opens with a disclaimer that exclaims the producers can’t even remember making the movie! A grindhouse-inspired sexploitation flick the film follows Rex Romanski, a swinger, a womaniser and nightclub dancer. His aim in life is to seduce women and then casually dump them. However one day Rex meets his match in Rita Marie, a conquest who also happens to be a black magic priestess. When he spurns Rita for porn starlet Amoreena Jones, she reigns all hell down on him in a rampage of demonic possession, murder and mayhem.
In all fairness I wasn’t expecting much from this film. I’ve been watching a number of low-budget,...

I pledge allegiance... to the undead hordes clamoring to eat my brain. And honestly, if the shit does ever hit the fan, what other group would you want to side with? Unfortunately, the walking dead are not usually much for national pride, but if I've got a zombie with his teeth on my head, I'm willing to try just about anything. Say hello to Zombie Allegiance.
Directed by Tony Nunes and starring Brandon Louis Aponte (Nun of That), Andre Boudreau (Atomic Brain Invasion), Carlos Brum (Splatter Disco), Sarah Nicklin (Beyond the Dunwich Horror, Nun of That) and Michael Reed (Nun of That), Zombie Allegiance is a post-apocalyptic undead gore-fest brought to you by your friends at Independent Entertainment under the Alternative Cinema banner. The film will be released on DVD and in digital markets on December 6th. Check out the trailer below!

The undead go political in Zombie Allegiance, a new feature written and directed by Tony Nunes, who previously worked on Splatter Disco and Beyond The Dunwich Horror, and scripted The Disco Exorcist, for indie filmmaker Richard Griffin (who returned the favor by serving as Allegiance’s cinematographer). Read on for Nunes’ comments and info on the DVD release.

It's been a while since we've heard anything from the folks behind The Disco Exorcist, but as proof that good things come to those who wait, today we have the film's poster debut along with details on its February 12th premiere in Providence, Rhode Island.
From the Press Release:
Scorpio Film Releasing presents the poster for their newest film, The Disco Exorcist. The poster is a beautiful piece of work by artist Stephen Romano, the visual genius behind the Shock Festival book and DVD, among the original posters for Scorpio Film Releasing’s past films Nun of That and Beyond the Dunwich Horror.

Scorpio Film Releasing has announced that its next production, and most ambitious to date, will be the feature film 2009: Mutants of the Apocalypse, a unique look at a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by outlandishly deformed mutants, ruthlessly violent gangs, corruptible leaders, wasteland temptresses, and the most badass antihero in movie history: Python Diamond.
From the Press Release:
New England genre film director Richard Griffin tackles his loftiest vision yet in an epic production of grand scale action and science fiction. As with Griffin’s other films Nun Of That, Beyond The Dunwich Horror, Atomic Brain Invasion, and upcoming The Disco Exorcist (read more about that here), 2009: Mutants Of The Apocalypse will be a genre inspired adventure movie much like Escape from New York or the Italian “Spaghetti-Apocalypse” films Bronx Warriors, The New Barbarians, and Fall of New York. I have a soft spot for Richard Griffin’s work, particularly his tongue-in-cheek nunsploitation comedy “Nun of That”. As such, I’ve been waiting for the man to release a trailer for his upcoming endeavor “The Disco Exorcist” for a while now. Fortunately for those of us who live for these things, Mr. Griffin has made the teaser available for consumption on a global scale. My fingertips are tingling with anticipation. But first, a synopsis: The Disco Exorcist, a blood-soaked tale of supernatural revenge, sex, black magic, disco dancing, and mountains of cocaine is being produced by Ted Marr, written by Tony Nunes with Guy Benoit from a story by Richard Griffin and directed by Richard Griffin. Okay, so that really wasn’t much of a synopsis, but a bit of information was surely gleaned from its inclusion in this article. Anyway, the aforementioned trailer rests below. function getVideo() { var so = new SWFObject("http://cdn.

Stories like this one are why I love writing for Dread Central. Where else could we learn about a movie called The Disco Exorcist?!?
From the Press Release:
Scorpio Film Releasing is proud to announce that their next production will be The Disco Exorcist, a blood-soaked tale of revenge, sex, black magic, disco dancing, and mountains of cocaine. New England genre film director Richard Griffin takes on his bloodiest, sexiest film yet with a production so lurid that only a rating of Nc-17 will suffice.
As with Griffin’s spot-on genre throwback Nun of That and Beyond the Dunwich Horror, The Disco Exorcist promises to be a pitch perfect representation of the 1970’s exploitation genre. "In this age of soulless state-of-the-art, 3D, IMAX CGI-laden 'filmmaking', we thought it would be exciting to bring the art of cinema back to its most basic. Film. Real film ... with grain and scratches, warts and all.

Director Tony Nunes dropped us a line yesterday to pass along the first trailer for Zombie Allegiance; a film he calls his "unique take on what George Romero, and George Miller have constructed as a bleak future." A socio-political examination of American values, Allegiance puts forth that "in a wasteland of death and decay, selfish pride is the greatest villain of all."
The film takes place in a post nuclear Wwiii America, where those who were not killed in the attacks, were turned to zombies by a second biological attack. The world is mostly dead, and those who survived are either vigilantes, or desperate survivalists. One such group of survivalists find themselves defending their lives from much more than zombies and vigilantes, when strange disappearances start to occur. Religion, politics, and the fundamental struggle of right and wrong construct a backdrop to what is much more than a zombie/slasher flick,...

Independently made zombie films are the scourge of our genre. The scourge, I tell ya. I would love to see a moratorium put on them for a period of no less than five years, just to force indies to do something different. Of course, when they can put together an indie zombie movie that looks like might be something different, I’m willing to give it some gooey Dread Central loving.
Enter Zombie Allegiance, which is described by writer/director Tony Nunes thusly: ”The film takes place in a post nuclear Wwiii America, where those who were not killed from the bombs were turned to zombies by a second biological attack. The world is mostly dead, and those who survived are either vigilantes or desperate survivalists.
