Marina Cordoni Entertainment and Brett and Jason Butler of Substance Production have struck a three-film deal and partnered on a Toronto-based production company.
BroCo plans to develop three features in the next five years and is packaging the first project, detective comedy Purgatory Dick.
“This script has such a unique storyline that we may need to guard it,” said Cordoni, who produced and handled sales on the Butler Brothers’ sports comedy First Round Down, which is now complete and will premiere at the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax.

Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired Us rights to the Canadian dark drama Sitting On The Edge Of Marlene.
Ana Valine’s feature directorial debut stars Suzanne Clément and Paloma Kwiatkowski as a mother-daughter con artist duo.
Sitting On The Edge Of Marlene is an adaptation of the Billie Livingston novella The Trouble With Marlene and is styled as a bittersweet and emotional journey that deals with dysfunction, addiction, and love.
”Sitting On The Edge Of Marlene is a spectacular feather in the cap for Canadian filmmaking,” said Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff. “It is a pleasure to bring interesting films like this to American audiences.”
Wolff negotiated the deal with Marina Cordoni of Marina Cordoni Entertainment and will release the film on digital platforms in June.

Marina Cordoni Entertainment will provide one-stop shop services for various stages of feature production, as well as financial pre-production negotiations and competed sales, marketing and release strategies.
Serving as executive producer, Cordoni will work alongside established film-makers to take projects to green light. Wearing her sales agent cap, Cordoni will handle deals for Canadian release and international distribution.

Breakthrough Entertainment has teamed up with Dutch Features Global Entertainment to jointly serve as executive producer on the drama Joe’s Mountain.
Dutch Features will partner with Breakthrough to secure European distribution partners for the film.
Chuck Rose will direct Kris Kristofferson and the producers and are in discussions to cast Helen Hunt. Production will take place in Canada.
Kristofferson will play a former ladies man who becomes a local celebrity when his dreams of future events suddenly start to come true. He embarks on a road trip to find a mysterious lake to save the life of a young woman’s dying son.
