According to reporting in the Village Voice by Chuck Philips, Rosemond made the admission during proffer sessions last fall where his confession would not be used against him during an unaffiliated drug trafficking case involving millions of dollars of cocaine -- an operation Rosemond was convicted of running

As the beleaguered residents of East Baltimore understand all too well, when Omar’s in town, you know it. In the space of a day, Omar Little – Michael Kenneth Williams – has gone from a pleasant memory of the latest season of Boardwalk Empire to all over the crime news cycle.
Granted, it’s a bit of a slow cycle. But by any measure, it’s raining Omar.
And it’s for weird stuff, too. Yesterday, it was starring in a video from Funny or Die, The Wire: The Musical.

James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond was once a big-time music mogul who managed the careers of Brandy and Game, but on Tuesday (June 5), he was found guilty on all charges that he ran a drug-trafficking ring, AllHipHop is reporting.

As the CEO of Czar Entertainment, Rosemond oversaw the careers of high-profile musicians, actors and sports figures, but federal prosecutors charged that it was all a front for a bicoastal, $10 million-a-year drug organization that moved money and narcotics from New York to California. James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond is not backing down from the federal drug charges he's facing.
After his arrest on Tuesday, the hip-hop manager, who once counted Game as a client, pleaded not guilty to witness tampering, obstruction of justice and intentionally conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, his lawyer confirmed for MTV News.
The not guilty plea came as expected. In an interview with MTV News on Tuesday, Rosemond's attorney, Jeffery Lichtman, said his client was ready to take on the Feds. "These charges obviously aren't surprising, we've been anticipating them for years now," he said. "But they're built on the backs of people that have lied and cheated, have been threatened, have been bribed by the government.

Hollywoodnews.com: Are we close to finally finding out who shot rapper Tupac Shakur years before his Las Vegas murder?
Police reportedly are investigating a confession made by inmate Dexter Isaac, who currently is serving a life sentence in Brooklyn and stated, via AllHipHop.com, that he in fact pulled the trigger on Shakur at Quad Studios in Manhattan.
“I want to apologize to [Shakur's] family and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman],” Isaac said. “I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie's] mothers some closure.”
He’s referencing James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, who Isaac says paid him $2,500 to rob Shakur.
Rosemond’s lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman denounces the statement, telling the New York Post, “Wouldn’t you know it, [Isaac] spins this tale.”

The night before what would have been Tupac’s 40th birthday, Dexter Isaac came forward about his involvement in a shooting that could have ended the rapper’s life even earlier.
Dexter Isaac is currently serving a life sentence for murder, robbery, fraud and witness intimidation charges, so he didn’t have anything to lose when he finally came forward. He was allegedly paid $250,000 by James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond to attack and rob Tupac inside Manhattan’s Quad Studios in November 1994, according to MTV.
The confession came after Jimmy Henchman implicated him in a recent statement. “If the government is relying on informants like Winston ‘Winnie’ Harris, a convicted drug dealer and Jamaican deportee, who came to me and motioned via hand signal that he was forced to wear a wire and begged me to skip town or Dexter Isaac who is serving life in prison plus 30 years, then I...

A prison inmate has claimed involvement in the famous 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur that set in motion a feud that led to the murders of Shakur and rival rapper Notorious B.I.G. two years later. Dexter Isaac, who is serving life in prison for other crimes, said Wednesday - the eve of what would have been Shakur's 40th birthday - that he was one of the men who ambushed Shakur on Nov. 30, 1994, at Manhattan's Quad Studios, shooting him five times. Isaac claims he was paid $2,500 for the hit by James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, a former music mogul who recently claimed that...

The New York Police Department have launched a formal investigation into an online posting from convicted felon Dexter Issac who confessed to have shot and robbed late rapper Tupac Shakur in 1994. The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, June 15, spokesman Paul Browne said police might seek to interview the inmate if they determine the post is legitimate.
AllHipHop sent the media abuzz after posting Dexter's confession. Coming clean about the 1994 incident, the man who is currently serving life in prison for murder, robbery and other offenses, claimed he was paid $2,500 dollars by James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond to rob the rapper outside a studio in Manhattan.

Just two days ago the Los Angeles Times ran a report regarding the planned Tupac Shakur biopic simply titled Tupac, which was to be directed by Training Day helmer Antoine Fuqua. Their report said Morgan Creek had issued a "pay-or-play" deal (a guaranteed payment whether he makes the film or not) to Fuqua to stay on board the project.
This was newsworthy because Fuqua was also flirting with a boxing feature to star rapper Eminem called Southpaw. However, tonight there may be even more reason to get the Tupac feature moving quicker... then again, perhaps it could put the brakes on the project for a few years depending on how you look at it.

Instead of celebration, what would have been Tupac's 40th birthday has been marred by controversy as new allegations emerge about the November 1994 Quad Studios robbery and shooting of the rapper.
While fans celebrated 'Pac's life and legacy on Thursday (June 16), remembering the fallen icon with two trending topics on Twitter (#tupac and Thug Life), many of them were also debating the contents of a letter written by Dexter Isaac and posted to AllHipHop.com on Wednesday. In a note to the site, Isaac claimed to be the triggerman in the now-infamous robbery that left Shakur shot five times, two years before he was killed in a still-unsolved murder.

Dexter Isaac, a longtime associate of James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, released a statement to AllHipHop.com confessing to being involved in the robbery and shooting of Tupac Shakur. "I want to apologize to his family [Tupac Shakur] and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman]," Isaac said from prison. "I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie's] mothers some closure."
Rosemond is a hip hop mogul and CEO of Czar Entertainment who manages The Game and Sean Kingston, among many others. In May, he turned himself in on drug charges, and named Isaac in a lengthy statement defending himself and professing his innocence.
The shooting took place two years before Tupac was fatally shot on September 7th, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada, by two unnamed assailants.
An excerpt from Rosemond's statement, which can be read in full here:

A man has confessed to shooting and robbing Tupac Shakur two years before the musician was murdered. Dexter Isaac has come forward in the case, claiming that he was paid $$2,500 (£1,541) by notorious gangster James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond to rob Shakur at Quad Studios in New York City in November 1994. Isaac, who is currently serving a life sentence behind bars for unrelated offences including robbery and murder, issued an apology to Shakur's family via AllHipHop.com on the eve of what would have been the late rapper's 40th birthday. Seventeen years after Tupac Shakur was gunned down in Las Vegas, an inmate already serving a life sentence in a New York prison has come forward to say he shot the rapper in an unrelated 1994 incident in Manhattan.
Dexter Isaac, currently serving a murder sentence, released a supposed confession to AllHipHop.com. In it, Isaac says he was paid $2,500 by James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond to rob Shakur at gunpoint.
"In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2Pac Shakur at hte Quad Studio. He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewelry I took, except for one ring, which he wanted for himself. It was the biggest of the two diamond rings that we took. He said he wanted to put the stone in a new setting for his girlfriend at the time, Synthia Ried. I still have as proof the chain that we took that night in the robbery."

Well, it looks like the end of that upcoming Tupac movie just got way more convoluted. Apparently earlier today Dexter Isaac confessed to Tupac Shakur’s shooting in 1994 via a written statement to AllHipHop.com. Before you call your mom, Isaac is not referring to Tupac’s untimely death, but instead to another horrible shooting at New York’s Quad Recording studios that put Shakur in the hospital with five bullet wounds. Either way you look at it, a bombshell. Provided it’s true, of course…
In his confession, Isaacs alleges that CEO of Czar Entertainment James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond paid him and another man to jump Tupac, saying in part “In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2Pac Shakur at hte Quad Studio. He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewelry I took, except for one ring, which he wanted for himself. It was the biggest of the two diamond rings that we took.

What's even more startling is that the alleged triggerman, Dexter Isaac, is claiming in a letter that was obtained by AllHipHop.com that 'Pac's former associate, Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond, paid him $2,500 to do the deed.
While this may be a revelation to some, 'Pac's former protégé and Outlawz member E.D.I. Mean told MTV News that he was well aware.

Akon and Game's manager James Rosemond has turned himself over to police after a fugitive warrant was sent out for his arrest. Rosemond, also known as Jimmy Henchman, was being sought by police for federal drug charges. The hip-hop manager has been under investigation since 2007 over suspicions of his involvement with a cocaine distribution ring. Rosemond insists that he was unaware that a warrant had been issued. He wrote an open letter to XXLmag.com, which read: "The events over the past week, to say the least, have caught me off guard. "Although I have been aware of an investigation taking place over the last four years, I was never informed that an arrest warrant had been issued in my name. "I (more)...

Lashing out at what he called the "slanderous media" coverage he's gotten about the case and apologizing to the artists and music executives he's worked with over the years, as well as his family, Rosemond said he was surprised by the news of the warrant, which was first reported in the tabloid New York Post.

Rapper Wyclef Jean is "undeterred" with his "commitment" to his native Haiti after he was shot in the hand in the country on Saturday night, March 19. The former The Fugees star's car reportedly came under attack and was peppered with bullets as he was being driven through the city of Port-au-Prince with hip-hop pal Busta Rhymes and record executive Jimmy Rosemond.
Jean's hand was injured in the incident and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was subsequently discharged from the facility and his spokeswoman Cindy Tanenbaum insists the star is still fully committed to his charity work in the country.
She tells E! Online, "I have confirmed from Wyclef that he was immediately taken to the hospital, treated for a minor graze to his hand and released. He is fine. Wyclef's commitment to his native country and to his people is unparalleled. He is therefore undeterred by this incident.

Wyclef Jean has been shot. The former The Fugees front-man was hit in the hand on the eve of presidential elections in his native Haiti two days ago, March 19.
Wyclef had traveled to the Caribbean country to raise support for presidential candidate Michel Martelly in yesterday's, March 20, second round of voting, which pits him against former First Lady Mirlande Manigat.
Although Wyclef was taken to hospital, the wound was superficial and he was released after receiving treatment. The singer had been attacked while driving through the country's capital, Port Au Prince, with another hip-hop artist, Busta Rhymes, and record executive Jimmy Rosemond.
A representative for the star wrote on his twitter page, "We have spoken to Wyclef, he is Ok. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, Management." It is not yet known who shot at Wyclef or the reasons behind their actions, but the assailant has not been caught.

Wyclef Jean is Ok now after being shot in the hand when visiting Haiti on the eve of the country's presidential elections, Saturday night, March 19. Despite the incident, the former member of The Fugees still voted at the election which took place on Sunday.
He has an elastic bandage covering his right hand, and showed off to Associated Press his ink-stained thumb on the bandaged hand as evidence that he voted. The Hip-Hop star entered presidential race last year, but was disqualified reportedly because he did not fulfill the criteria needed to run for office.
Talking about what happened over the weekend, Wyclef said, "The way I can explain it is that the bullet grazed me in my right hand. I heard blow, blow, blow, and I just looked at my hand." He was in Port-au-Prince that day to support fellow musician and Haiti presidential candidate Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly.

Hip-hop svengali Jimmy Rosemond is to sue the Los Angeles Times over an article the newspaper printed linking him to Tupac Shakur's murder.
Rosemond, who manages the Game and Gucci Mane, was named in the same article that connected rap mogul Diddy to a 1994 gun attack on Shakur.
The newspaper's deputy managing editor Marc Duvoisin and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chuck Philips, who wrote the Times piece has since publicly apologised.
The newspaper also ran a full apology on it's front page on Thursday after Diddy's attorney demanded a retraction.
And while Diddy is still considering legal action against the newspaper's bosses, for printing an article based on fabricated information, Rosemond is keen to strike.
He's intent on suing the Times for damages.
He tells RollingStone.com, "The rumour was always there but when a person like L.A. Times' Pulitzer Prize winner Chuck Philips writes about it, the folklore becomes real for my life and everybody's life around me."
Rosemond reveals Philips and his bosses were warned about publishing the article, which first surfaced online last weekend, and then appeared in print this week (beg24Mar08).
He adds, "Myself, along with my attorney, emailed him (Philips) and his chief editor, saying we don't know where you are getting your information from but whatever you're about to write is going to be a lie because we just know that there ain't no truth to this.
"Phillips emailed us back stating that he would not be frightened out of writing his truth with scare tactics... We blatantly tried to warn them that they were getting into something that they had no idea what it was."
Rosemond claims the article has cost him potential clients: "There's a few guys that won't meet with me because of this."...
