Ricky Mori
As a 14 year old in 1982 Ricky Mori was a major player in the video
game world, becoming somewhat of a household name in the San Francisco
Bay Area when he played 4 1/2 hours straight on Midways PacMan machine
making the game quit at 3,171,000 points, this brought the attention of
many people including the producers of a TV series called "Just
Kidding", who challenged Ricky to play against one of the best players
at that time, Jeffrey Yee, on November 22, 1982 Ricky and Jeffrey
played for the cameras for the sole purpose of showing TV audiences
what the game did when it quit, Jeffrey was unsuccessful in his quest
and stopped playing after 2 hours, Ricky went the distance and for the
first time showed the public what PacMan became after 256 screens and 4
1/2 hours, it was caught on film and still exists to this day, since
1982 hundreds of people world wide have played and completed the game
but it would be hard to capture the buzz of that day back in 1982.
In August of 2007, to celebrate the 25th Anniversery, Ricky Mori will play again in San Francisco, conquering PacMan just like he did back in 1982.
