Heinz Berggruen was born on January 5, 1914 in Wilmersdorf, Berlin, Germany. He was married to Bettina Moissi and Lillian Zellerbach. He died on February 23, 2007 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine, France.
Art gallery owner who enjoyed a close relationship with Pablo Picasso
and was also considered a specialist in the works of Van Gogh, Cézanne,
Matisse, Paul Klee, Hans Arp and Giacometti.
In the mid-1990s, he made a powerful gesture of reconciliation, as a
German Jew, by moving his modern art collection to Berlin.
