Gary Shore is a writer and director hailing from Artane on Dublin's north side. He studied film at Galway, Mayo Institute of Technology (1999-2002) and The National Film School (2005-2006). After a brief stint directing commercials and music videos, Shore returned to study fine art at Central Saint Martins in London in 2009.
Shore made his directorial feature film debut in 2014 with the fantasy epic, 'Dracula Untold', for Universal Pictures. The film was a modest success amassing $215,000,000 at the worldwide box office, topping the Blu-ray charts, and winning best horror at the Saturns.
Shore spent the following years honing his craft before returning to the horror genre in 2022 with his next feature, The Queen Mary, which he directed and co-wrote.
Shore's storytelling philosophy and visual aesthetic rely heavily on sharp angles and curves - a combination he owes to the filmmakers that inspire him - Sergio Leone, Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, and Akira Kurosawa.
