Canada-based firms Blink49 Studios and Vanguarde Artists Management are teaming to make shows.
The pair has created a joint venture that will develop and produce content for the global market. The firms are billing the deal as a “first-of-its-kind” agreement in Canada, with Vanguarde providing the creative talent and IP and former eOne Television chief John Morayniss’ Blink49 providing studio, production and distribution infrastructure.
Blink49, which is backed by Cj Enm-owned Fifth Season, will also provide development funding to help create a slate. It and Vanguarde will serve as co-producers on all projects developed, with Fifth Season taking a first look on international distribution rights.
The news comes shortly after Deadline revealed Vanguarde had set up a production arm, Vanguarde Pictures and hired former Saving Hope and Burden of Truth showrunner Adam Pettle, who’ll work to develop content alongside Co-Heads Tina Horwitz and Jay Horwitz.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s debut of the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead
The Walking Dead may be coming to an end soon, but Tales of the Walking Dead is coming out of the gate with big ambitions, according to co-creator Channing Powell.
“Well, we were hoping to make six little movies,” the showrunner and long-time Twd writer says of the six-episode first season of the anthology season that debuted on AMC tonight. “We kind of came into it thinking, okay, we’re creating six different pilots, and they can all have a different tone,” Powell adds of the Scott Gimple co-created latest iteration of the ever-expanding Twd universe.
Debuting last week on streamer AMC+ and on AMC proper tonight, Tales started off just over a year after the zombie apocalypse had befallen the planet. The first episode saw Newsroom alum Terry Crews and...

‘Allo Insiders, Jesse Whittock here. The sun is scorching out there in London today (I promise you this does happen occasionally), but I’ve stayed just cool enough to bring you a rundown of this week’s biggest stories.
Mountains Of Content In Canada
Rockie return: A bleary-eyed Max Goldbart here fresh from touching down at Heathrow Airport after an action-packed three days at the Banff World Media Festival. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Rockie Mountains (in the towering castle-like Fairmont Hotel) some of the most important people in the world of TV both in front of and behind the camera spent the early part of this week taking meetings and speaking to the interested public on all things television. As is customary these days, talk of Netflix’s travails dominated the chatter — it really was ever-present in the buzzy mid-panel conversations — and the streamer’s Head of...

Exclusive: John Morayniss’ Blink49 Studios has struck an overall deal with The Walking Dead: World Beyond co-exec producer Ben Sokolowski.
The deal is the second of its type from the nascent Canadian studio over the past months after it tied with Lucifer exec Sheri Elwood in March.
Sokolowski, whose credits also include The Flash and Cloverfield, will develop shows with Blink49 as a non-writing executive producer. He is the co-exec of AMC Walking Dead spin-off The Walking Dead: World Beyond and has written four episodes.
Sokolowski’s first development project under the deal is Breakers from Netflix’s 21 Thunder co-creator Riley Adams.
Breakers follows three young surfers from Vancouver Island who dream of big-wave glory but one goes missing. When the police refuse to act, the other two must take it upon themselves, plunging into the island’s criminal waters.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond Episodes 9 and 10
Huck (Annet Mahendru) is a woman with a mission, and it’s not to make sure everyone gets to the Civic Republic Militia research facility safely. From the very opening of The Walking Dead: World Beyond‘s ninth episode, “The Deepest Cut,” as Huck stares into the darkness while everyone sleeps, it’s clear she’s facing a choice between the people that she has come to know and love as friends in Felix and the kids, and her loyalty to the Crm, her mother, and the Crm’s idea of the greater good. Throughout the series, when prompted, Huck has cautioned Hope in particular to make the choice that benefits everyone, not the choice that simply benefits her, and that encouragement to push hope towards that concept of the greater good makes much...

To say that the past few months have been a trying time for Team Arrow is quite the understatement. I mean, Oliver Queen was able to get by when Mr. Terrific, Black Canary and Wild Dog decided to go off and do their own thing, but the exit of Thea compounded with John Diggle’s decision to sign up with Argus was almost too much for the Emerald Archer to take. For a brief period, he went back to basics, but it appears we’re ready to return to the status quo now that he’s been acquitted of all charges.
In fact, one could say Ollie’s recent trial is what helped pull the team back together. After all, it forced each hero to step back and examine the situation from a different perspective, with some of them likely pondering what it’s like to be in the other’s shoes.

Although Arrow did its best Law & Order impression last night, that didn’t mean it wasn’t a nail-biter of the highest order. In fact, it had many twists and turns to be enjoyed, in addition to Ricardo Diaz learning that he can’t win in every situation.
Long story short, we had two MVPs yesterday evening, with the obvious one being Christopher Chance Aka the Human Target, who posed as both Tommy Merlyn and the judge who overrode the jury’s decision, and acquitted Oliver Queen. The other, of course, was that of Black Siren, whose testimony went against Diaz’s wishes, thus making an incredible stride in her path toward redemption.
So, now that the Dragon’s Plan A has failed, he’s going with his backup – and that means all-out war on Team Arrow and those they hold most dear. In fact, the trailer at the...

Well, it sure did take some time getting here, but tonight’s episode of Arrow – appropriately titled “The Dragon” – finally gave us a healthy amount of insight into the man that is Ricardo Diaz. When you think about it, it makes sense that the producers held off for a bit because he largely lurked in the shadows during the beginning of the season, allowing Cayden James to serve as a red herring of sorts.
So, now that we’re well aware of his sordid childhood and why he’s the sick S.O.B. that he is today, we can only hope that actor Kirk Acevedo continues knocking it out of the park in this final stretch of episodes. In fact, it appears as though Diaz will achieve new levels of depravity in the penultimate outing.
Without further delay, here’s the official synopsis for May 10’s offering, “The Ties...

With all the breaks occurring this season, Supernatural fans have a valid reason for dubbing this the “Year of Hellatuses,” a term that can be applied to a variety of CW shows. In fact, whenever the aforementioned horror series is forced to endure a hiatus, so too must Arrow, for they’re prime time partners at the moment.
But when Arrow finally does come back in a couple of weeks, expect it to do so with a bang. We say that because not only is Katrina Law returning as Nyssa al Ghul, but she’ll have the mysterious Thanatos Guild hot on her heels. In short, this shadowy cabal is made up by surviving members of the League of Assassins who are in pursuit of a box left behind by Malcolm Merlyn. And, if you were to ask us, seeds for what’s to come in season 7 could very well be planted here,...

Now that we’ve enjoyed appearances made by the likes of Manu Bennett’s Deathstroke and Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper, Arrow aims to check off yet another box when it comes to returning fan favorite guest stars. This time, though, it comes in the form of Katrina Law, who’s turned in some unforgettable performances as Nyssa al Ghul.
Of course, her comeback is doubling satisfying because we and the rest of Team Arrow have been left wondering if she was among those who survived the blast on Lian Yu which occurred in season 5’s finale. Granted, the jury’s still out on her sister Talia, but it’s good to know that at least one of the al Ghul kids made it out alive.

Now that 2018 is officially underway and we have the holidays behind us, it’s about time that we get back to the TV shows that we love. To be more specific, folks like me can’t wait to resume the current season of what DC has to offer and, fortunately, that’ll arrive next week with a slew of midseason premieres, culminating with the returning episode of Arrow.
So, after spoiling us with a fresh batch of images culled from the appropriately titled “Divided,” the network is willing to let loose yet another goodie in the form of an extended trailer. Being considerably meatier than any other promo video we’ve seen since the winter hiatus began, we get more hints as to how fractured Team Arrow truly is, with the originals – Oliver Queen, John Diggle and Felicity Smoak – going about their own way, and the rest – Wild Dog, Black...

Arrow‘s midseason finale saw Team Arrow at their lowest point, as half the crime-fighting group walked away from the Arrowcave due to a fallout with Oliver Queen. Before the month is out, we’ll be treated to the latest four-part Arrowverse crossover. Last year’s team-up between the heroes of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow was one of the biggest highlights of the shared universe so far, and brought in some huge ratings for The CW.
Story-wise, it featured an alien race called the Dominators invading the Earth. How will this year go bigger, then? Well, instead of aliens, the Arrowverse heroes will face their own evil Nazi doppelgangers from another world.
The synopses for the four episodes that make up the crossover, titled “Crisis on Earth-x,” have now been revealed. In an effort to keep spoilers for how the plot progresses under wraps, the text remains basically the same for all four synopses, but it still does give us a full list of the characters who’ll be involved in each episode.

After a couple of seasons with only one-off cameos for the supervillain, Manu Bennett returned as Oliver Queen’s nemesis Deathstroke in a big way at the end of Arrow season 5. After forming an uneasy alliance to defeat Prometheus, Slade Wilson will drop by Star City to ask a favor of Mayor Queen in a much-anticipated two-part storyline, which kicks off with next week’s suitably-titled “Deathstroke Returns.”
The old enemies will go on the hunt for Slade’s estranged son Joe, who’s been kidnapped by mercenaries. It sounds like it’s going to be a can’t miss outing for the show and now, you can check out some shots of the duo’s mission in the gallery of promo images below, as well as a look at what the rest of Team Arrow will get up to in the episode.

Though the summer hiatus felt like an eternity, we can now breathe easier with the fall season of DC TV being back in full swing. Not only that, but synopses for episodes set to air during week 5 have now surfaced online, including those for Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow.
First, on Tuesday, November 7, the Waverider crew will cross paths with none other than their former captain, Rip Hunter. Sure, actor Arthur Darvill may no longer be a series regular, but he’s still playing a big part in the grand scheme now that he’s formed the Time Bureau. Thus, we’re guessing this fateful meeting has everything to do with the episode being titled “Return of the Mack,” and not Rip recording a hip-hop album.
Anyway, here’s what we know as of now:

Thanks to the first trailer for Arrow season 6 that dropped last month at San Diego Comic-Con, we’ve been given a lot to look forward to when we rejoin the series this fall. One thing in particular that you may agree with me in saying is among the greatest selling points is that of seeing Manu Bennett returning as Deathstroke for a number of episodes.
In fact, one could say that the return of Slade Wilson is doubly exciting, not only because he’s once again siding with Oliver Queen now that the Mirakuru has burned out of his system, but also because we’ll get to see this iteration of the character be fleshed out thanks to flashbacks set to be explored in a two-episode arc.
Now, we don’t know exactly when said two-episode arc will arrive, but considering that Oliver helping Slade with finding his son will...

The midseason finale of Arrow ended on not just one, but a series of cliffhangers. One of them was the arrest of Diggle as his time on the run came to an abrupt end, but it appears as if he’s made his peace with being behind bars…for now. As you can see in the clip above, Oliver’s best friend has a plan to clear his name and bring down the corrupt soldiers who framed him.
He’ll no doubt ultimately end up succeeding, but for now, his imprisonment means he can’t lend Team Arrow a hand and that’s going to be a big problem. After all, Artemis recently betrayed her friends to join up with Prometheus, while the returning Laurel Lance isn’t actually the Black Canary who died during season 4.

The midseason finale of Arrow was full of surprises, including Oliver Queen's accidental murder of Felicity's boyfriend and the return of Laurel Lance (who we recently learned isn't the Black Canary who died in battle last year). The synopsis below for "Who Are You?" sheds some light on what's to come, and while it's fairly vague, there's clearly going to be a lot going on in this episode of The CW series. Oliver Wants Justice; Felicity Wants Revenge — Worried that Prometheus is right and he is truly a killer at heart, Oliver (Stephen Amell) looks for any ray of hope and finds it in what seems to be the miraculous return of Laurel Lance (guest star Katie Cassidy). However, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), still reeling from Detective Malone’s murder, is bent on revenge – she wants to stop Prometheus at any cost. While in prison, Diggle (David Ramsey) fights for his life.

If you’re a fan of Arrow, WWE, or both, you’ll know that Stephen Amell made quite the impact in the squared circle last year when he took part in a tag team match at SummerSlam. That came about as part of a rivalry with WWE Superstar Stardust (a.k.a. Cody Rhodes), and while it looked like a rematch was on the cards, his departure from the company has made that impossible.
However, the two will once again come to blows in the third episode of Arrow‘s fifth season as Rhodes has landed his first major acting gig since leaving the WWE. He’ll be playing a formidable drug dealer in The CW series who may have some metahuman abilities if the brief glimpse we got of him in that recent trailer was any indication.

The CW has released the first batch of images from Wednesday’s episode of Arrow, and they feature a meeting between Felicity Smoak and her father, The Calculator (his true name has yet to be revealed). Making his debut in this week’s instalment of the DC Comics adaptation, it was revealed that he had plans to destroy Star City and appears to be just as unaware about Felicity’s secret life as she is about his.
Fans of Arrow have been speculating for a while that he would be revealed as Felicity’s father, so the twist didn’t have a huge impact, but it certainly still opens the door to some new storytelling possibilities.
