Born to minister, Joseph Montagna and interior decorator, Sherry
Phillips, Kendra Rose Montagna was born to live a conventional
residential life. She was born in Jamestown, New York, where she
attended Falconer Elementary. At the age of 5, she pushed her parents
into letting her enter the Allen Park Talent Show. Her imaginative love
for music and the arts shined through, and of course all things Disney
princess. She sang Disney's, The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World,"
and took home first place. And so it began.
At the age of 11, Joseph was recruited to a piloting job and relocated
his family to Indiana. Between a cornfield and a church, she attended
Franklin Township Middle School and Franklin Central High School. She
focused on her schooling and adhered to typical Bible belt life in the
Midwest. Extracurricular activities and church on Sunday, she blended
in very normally to the standards of Midwestern living.
Kendra found her voice and outlet through her love for the arts. She
was in theater playing the lead of Annie in "Annie" at the age of 16.
She participated in an award winning show choir, the FC Singers
conducted by the talented Bill Griffel and choreographed by the U.S.
renowned, Damon Brown. With them and her colleagues, she traveled to
different contests around the states, sharing her love with other
artists and finding her voice, even gracing the honors of the stage of
Disney's Epcot Center, Walt Disney World, Orlando Florida.
Graduating with honors, Kendra attended Butler University for a few
semesters before getting the itch to grow in a bigger city. Led by
misconception and intuition, Kendra left the small town community of
Indiana and fled to Los Angeles, CA. There she starting acting as an
extra. She landed a minor role as a Varsity Cheerleader in, "The Return
of Zoom", (Kate Mara, Tim Allen, Courtney Cox, Chevy Chase), and
realized this was what she wanted to invest her efforts in. She
enrolled in Playhouse West in North Hollywood and learned the
techniques of Sanford Meisner. "Living truthfully in imaginary
circumstances."-Sanford Meisner, the possibilities.
She went on to study and graduate from the prestigious Baron/Brown two
year Meisner training program in Santa Monica, California. She
auditioned more and was fortunate enough to become a part of the Screen
Actors Guild in 2007. Kendra Rose Montagna worked on 20th Century
Fox's, "Bones," in 2005, and the television pilot Edison with John
Leguizamo. She went on to contribute in the web series boom with many
online productions. She was in the science fiction film, "Life Tracker"
in 2012 along with the romantic comedy "Ripe" due out next year. She
has a couple more upcoming productions set.
Although she misses the days of Olive Garden, she is fulfilled and
thriving through this blessing of creativity.
