Following on from its successful pilot launch in January, Amazon Studios has released an official trailer for the first full season of its original high-concept period drama series "The Man in the High Castle".
Based on the Philip K. Dick 1962 novel, the story is set in an alternate U.S. history which imagines what happens if the Allied Powers lost World War II. Seventeen years on, the Nazis control the eastern United States, while Japan controls the Pacific Coast and the Rocky Mountains serve as a neutral zone.
It's in this zone a group of U.S. resistance fighters battle for independence and believe the key to their success lies in old war footage, which shows that the Allies actually won the war. Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, Rufus Sewell, DJ Qualls, Luke Kleintank and Bernhard Forcher. The ten episode series debuts, in full, on Amazon Prime on November 20th.

This dramatic war thriller follows soldier Jack Farmer (Luke Moran) from small town America to Iraq’s most infamous prison, Abu Ghraib, where he’s tasked with guarding the Army’s highest priority detainees. Pressured by his superior (Sean Astin) into using harsh techniques on a seemingly innocent detainee (Omid Abtahi), the seductive allure of war quickly turns to a haunting reality that threatens to break him.
War. What is it good for? Well seemingly it’s good for churning out war film after war film. Some bad. Some good. Thankfully Prisoner of War falls into the latter camp. Produced by the same people behind Traffic and Blood Diamond, the films is loosely based...

"Where the f*** is Freeman?"
So someone explain the insane "Half-Life"/Gordon Freeman fandom to me? The silent protagonist of Valve's games makes for an interesting visual but has no discernible personality to speak of. So how/why does he and the alien-oppressed landscape of the games inspire so much fan love, from art to multiple shorts and miniseries already made and in the pipeline? No snark intended here, I really would love a clear explanation from a hardcore fan.
Speaking of which, the ongoing Indiegogo campaign by a group of the Freeman Faithful would like your help getting "Half-Life: The Freeman Chronicles" made: a six-episode series based on the continuing adventures of everyone's favorite crowbar-wielding savior. The project is the brainchild of duo Ian James Duncan and Bernhard Forcher who are seeking $75,000 ($5,000 goes to Indiegogo) to get their series made. They're also crowdsourcing portions of the story which will...

Supernatural, Season 8, Episode 13: “Everybody Hates Hitler”
Written by Ben Edlund
Directed by Philip Sgriccia
Airs Wednesdays at 9pm (Et) on CW
It has been established numerous times over Supernatural’s run that dabbling with otherworldly forces is not something new; in fact, it has been going on for a very long time. This point was driven home once again last week with the reveal that Sam and Dean’s grandfather was part of a larger organisation that fought against otherworldly forces, opening up another historical aspect to the fight. As there were those who fought for good, it’s believable that there were also humans who fought for evil, and it was only a matter of time before they surfaced as well, posing a new threat to the Winchesters. The idea of a resurrected society of supernatural evildoers is the one that this week’s episode explores,...

It’s a tricky road to navigate: Keeping an audience interested throughout an intentionally mundane film that’s nothing except a flat measured pace to a dramatic conclusion. Slow builds are usually a nice thing, but too slow, especially when that’s 95% of your short movie, and a director risks losing the viewer’s interest. Plus, for those who put the time in waiting to see the conclusion, well, that ending had better be a good one.
Christopher Werner’s The Neighbors chronicles an average suburban dinner get together between two couples, Heather (Sandy Kim) & Patrick (Bernhard Forcher) and Amber (Taryn Matusik) & Matthew (Robert Grant). There’s nothing extraordinary about them, other than Heather and Patrick living in a spacious McMansion. The extended dialogue-free opening credits sequence shows each of them getting ready, putting on clothes, cooking the meal, etc.
It’s a long opening with not much happening. All...
