Television data firm Parrot Analytics is teaming up with Guinness World Records to find the world’s “Officially Amazing” most popular TV and digital original series. The winners of each will be featured in the 2019 edition of Guinness World Records, to launch in bookstores and online Sept. 6.
“It is an honor to work with the venerable Guinness World Records,” said Parrot CEO Wared Seger. “We were delighted that the Guinness World Records team chose to work with us to determine the most popular TV shows in the world and that they saw the value in relying on the industry’s established global cross-platform TV demand metric to gain a truly holistic and empirical view of what is resonating with viewers worldwide.”
Guinness previously tapped Parrot’s TV demand measurement system, which Seger demonstrated at the 2018 Variety Massive Summit, for its 2018 world records publication, which identified “Game of Thrones” as the most in-demand TV show.

The gory Saw movies have been named the most successful horror films of all time in a presentation at the Comic-Con convention in San Diego, California.
The gruesome franchise, which stars Tobin Bell as a trap-setting serial killer, has been running since 2004 and has seen one film released every Halloween (31Oct) for the last six years.
The series has now been named the most popular in horror movie history after taking more than $730 million (£487 million) at the worldwide box office and selling more than 30 million DVDs.
Saw has earned a place in the Guinness World Records ahead of other popular scary movie series including Halloween, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Producer Mark Burg admits he's stunned by the honour: "I'm still in shock. The fact that we beat out Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a testament to our cast, crew and our partners at Lionsgate (film studio)."
Movie bosses behind the Saw franchise were honoured with a presentation at Comic-Con on Friday in which Guinness editor-in-chief Craig Glenday handed the award to producers.
The series will conclude this year with the release of the seventh and final film, Saw 3D, in October.
