Younger star Molly Bernard and Nike Kadri (One Dollar) have been added to the cast of Master, the Amazon Studios thriller starring Regina Hall. Zoe Renee and Amber Gray recently joined the film, which is written and directed by Mariama Diallo. Production is currently underway. The plot follows three black women who strive to find their place at the celebrated Ancaster College, an elite university in New England. It examines how each of these women will — or won’t — survive in this space of privilege. Andrea Roa, Brad Becker-Parton and Joshua Astrachan will produce for Animal Kingdom with Hall and Terence Nance serving as executive producers. Bernard is repped by Innovative Artists and D2 Management. Kadri is repped by D2 and Hckr.

“We’re gonna lose the farm, son!” husks country star Trace Adkins in the trailer for “Bennett’s War,” which then goes on to further suggest the viewer is in for a steaming pile of platitudinous corn, with a side order of flag-waving. And indeed, Alex Ranarivelo’s sports drama has a pretty hokey story gist: Wounded military veteran forces himself to miraculously recover his full mobility so he can return to motocross racing and get that prize money to … yep, save the family farm.
Maybe such on-the-nose marketing works for some Heartland audiences, but the good news about that bad trailer is that it does this film a disservice. While “War” may be a duly formulaic feel-gooder at heart, it also soft-pedals the more potentially heavy-handed emotional beats to pleasing effect.

"Going wheel to wheel is not smart for someone in your condition." Forrest Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie injured war veteran meets racing sports drama titled Bennett's War, the latest from filmmaker Alex Ranarivelo. The film is about a young soldier in the Army Motorcycle Unit named Marshall Bennett, who is injured by an Ied while serving in combat. He returns home and makes a remarkable comeback from a broken back and leg to be a champion motorcross racer. Michael Roark stars as Bennett, with a cast including country star Trace Adkins, plus Ali Afshar, Allison Paige, Hunter Clowdus, Brando Eaton, Tony Panterra, Michael King, & Taylor Kalupa. This looks exactly as cheesy and kitschy and uber heroic as described, but maybe that's what works for this. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Alex Ranarivelo's Bennett's War, direct from YouTube: After surviving an Ied explosion in combat overseas,...

We all remember the controversy that surrounded the production of Cabin Fever 2, where director Ti West was met with overwhelming studio-interference, to the point that he tried to have his name removed from the project. I don’t have the second film, but there is no denying that it is “bad”. Still, though it had a somewhat entertaining quality, even if it was a bastardized version of what it was originally intended. After that, there was always talk of a new sequel, and even a reboot, and now that a sequel has actually been produced, it seems as though, instead of making a film that connections to Patient Zero, like they originally intended, they’re going with a reboot of the series instead. Nevertheless, Patient Zero exists, so how does it stack up against the first two films? Well, it is definitely better than Spring Fever, but there is a catch.

A small outbreak of a nasty flesh-eating virus has left a single survivor, and now the scientists responsible for it all have turned Porter (Sean Astin) into a human lab rat. Having watched his only son melt in his arms, Porter’s far from a willing participant in the experimentation and instead just wants to return to his wife. Elsewhere on the island four friends have arrived for an impromptu bachelor party. Marcus (Mitch Ryan) is a day away from getting married, so when his brother Josh (Brando Eaton) and their friends Dobbs (Ryan Donowho) and Penny (Jillian Murray) suggest the overnight trip to a secluded island he finds it hard to resist. A brief swim along the shore reveals a curious absence of sea life, but that doesn’t interfere with diving of another sort back in the tent… and it’s not long before the dangers of island cunnilingus come very, very...

*full disclosure: a theatrical screening of this film was provided by Sinister Cinemas and Raven Banner Entertainment. Director: Kaare Andrews. Writer: Jake Wade Wall. Cast: Sean Astin, Currie Graham, Ryan Donowho, Brando Eaton and Jillian Murray. Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero was originally developed as a prequel. This film would be the first in the franchise, followed by Eli Roth's Cabin Fever (2002) and Ti West's Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever (2009). Later, the script was reworked and the film is the second sequel in the franchise. And really, this is a standalone film as this title has only the loosest connections with the previous two films. This second sequel uses several standard indie horror features, which will be recognizable to most fans. However, actor Sean Astin as Porter offers a few deadly surprises along the way. Also, a few slower moments threaten to derail the momentum of the film,...

Fans of body horror will be happy to know there's a new film coming with more views of gory insides than pretty faces. Directed by Kaare Andrews ("The ABCs of Death") and written by Jake Wade Wall, "Cabin Fever: Patient Zero" (a prequel to 2010's "Cabin Fever") tells the fairly conventional story of a group of attractive friends looking for a relaxing vacation in the Caribbean only to instead--to their dismay and our delightful horror-- find their guts on the sand. In all fairness, director Kaare Andrews could have shown colonoscopy footage for an hour and a half and it still would have entertained viewers longer than Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever managed to – but our ambitious auteur goes above and beyond by delivering a sequel more in line with Roth’s original cult phenomenon. Sure, Rider Strong doesn’t drop in for another “explosive” cameo, but back once again is Roth’s flesh-eating virus, and this time it’s ready for the big leagues. Cabin Fever: Patient Zero is a puss-ridden, grotesque, splattery bit of biological horror, and while it lacks the indie charms that wooed franchise fans initially, Andrews’ pseudo-reboot could be the start of something nasty – rivaling Roth’s signature brand of stomach-turning visual horrors.
Since ruining a friendly vacation and eating through a prom, officials are still struggling to contain the hungry virus causing so much devastation.

Director Kaare Andrews' (Altitude) Cabin Fever: Patient Zero will play in twenty-eight Canadian cities! The film will begin its Canadian launch in Toronto, Ontario, before moving out to more theatres May 29th. This is the third film in a horror franchise, which involves contaminated water. The contamination leads to lesions and deformities and horror fans will want to seek this film out, in theatres. Cabin Fever: Patient Zero stars Sean Astin (Extraction), Brando Eaton ("Burn Notice"), Jillian Murray, Lydia Hearst and Ryan Donowho. A preview for the theatrical launch is here. In this prequel to the original 2002 film, several partiers travel to an isolated Caribbean island. Here, they find an abandoned research and science facility and they decide to go for a deadly swim. They are immersed in a virus, which eats their flesh. Now, these friends will have to find a cure, quickly, or die from this mysterious disease.

A new slasher movie is on it's way from Caliber Media and Revek Entertainment. 'Some Kind of Hate' is the bringing together of revenge and the supernatural as a bullied kid summons a spirit to deal with his tormentors. It's good to see writer/director Adam Egypt Mortimer trying something a little bit different with the genre but it does sound like a familiar amalgamation of past horror features that have already treaded similar ground - such as Brit horror 'Tormented' amongst others. But still our hopes are high. 'Some Kind of Hate' stars Ronen Rubinstein, the gorgeous Grace Phipps ('Fright Night'), Sierra McCormick, Michael Polish, Noah Segan ('Looper'), Spencer Breslin ('The Happening'), Maestro Harrell ('Suburgatory'), Jasper Polish ('The Astronaut Farmer'), Jeremy Hawkins, Brando Eaton and the sexy Lexi Atkins -below ('Zombeavers')....

CBS has set up a site for fans of How I Met Your Mother to send a farewell message through various social media sites. The collection of sentiment is enough to make me stop muttering about how the comedy should have ended seasons ago.
Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss tell EW that they see a seven-season run for the fantasy drama. “Seven gods, seven kingdoms, seven seasons. It feels right to us.” I’d find that comforting, but that also leaves a good amount of time for things to go wrong.
Then again, how wrong can things get as long as Lady Olenna keeps dropping the quips.
Based on my experience with The Vampire Diaries, my reaction to hearing about the surprise departure on The Originals was a shrug, but that’s based entirely on how irritating the character was on The Vampire Diaries. For...

There seems to be plenty of strong reactions to last night‘s How I Met Your Mother, fueling a certain fan theory about how the series ends. I’m still rooting for the show ending in divorce, that’s the only way I can justify the way they’ve made Ted such a jerk this season.
Virginia Madsen has joined the cast of NBC’s revised Babylon Fields pilot. Madsen’s career choices have been oddly hit-and-miss (anyone remember Scoundrels?) I’m hoping this is one of her better shows.

I distinctly remember the hype surrounding the release of the original Cabin Fever movie – written and directed by then newcomer Eli Roth, the film was touted as a new breed of horror, made for genre fans by a genre fan. I also remember when the film was eventually released there was somewhat of a backlash, after all it wasn’t much more than a mix of backwoods horror and “melt movie”. But the film did well enough to warrant a sequel which, after wrangles between director Ti West (House of the Devil) and the films producers – who re-edited the film to such an extent that West disowned the movie, was released in 2009. It's been over a year since we posted a bloody snap of actress Jillian Murray on set of Kaare Andrews' ('The ABCs of Death') infection follow-up 'Cabin Fever: Patient Zero' and little else since. Thankfully a new international trailer has just been spotted over on YouTube. The German based trailer reveals plenty about the movie which seems to have taken a more 'zombie'-esque direction(?). The sequel stars Sean Astin ('Lord of the Rings'), Currie Graham, Ryan Donowho, Brando Eaton ('Dexter'), Jillian Murray, Mitch Ryan, Solly Duran, Lydia Hearst and Claudette Lali. 'Patient Zero' is one of two sequels being lined up, the other being 'Cabin Fever: Outbreak' which should both see a release fairly close together.
