Christelle Lheureux's 80,000 Years Old is showing exclusively on Mubi starting November 3, 2021 in the series Brief Encounters.This film arose from a desire to continue experiments with two-screen video installations I carried out a few years ago, when I was more a visual artist than a filmmaker—this time armed with my experience as a screenwriter. I wanted both to juxtapose shots / reverse shots where two characters speak to each other in continuous time, without editing, leaving the viewer to choose the editing by looking at both of them, but also to explore the two screens to accompany Céline's path, which navigates between different times: the present of a weekend in Normandy, her musings, her memories and her mental images. Following the announcement of their new curated theatrical venture Mubi Go, next month’s U.S. streaming lineup at Mubi has now been unveiled. Highlights include Terrence Malick’s heartbreakingly raw romantic drama To the Wonder and its Javier Bardem-focused counterpart, Eugene Richards’ Thy Kingdom Come.

According to Abbas Kiarostami, Jafar Panahi has wrapped his second feature under house-arrest. Eric Kohn reports via Indiewire. Steven Spielberg's long-anticipated Lincoln debuted on Monday at a secret screening at the New York Film Festival. Fandor has collected some of the first reactions. Lynne Ramsay has secured financing with Scott Pictures for her follow-up to last year's We Need to Talk About Kevin. The film is Mobius and The Hollywood Reporter describes it as a "psychological action thriller set in deep space [in which] a captain consumed by revenge takes his crew on a death mission fueled by his own ego and will to control an enigmatic alien." So yes, it's Moby Dick in space. The Guardian has the full story. Indiewire reports that Olivier Assayas is already mounting his follow-up to this year's Something in the Air. Reuniting with Juliette Binoche, the film is tentatively titled Since Maria.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam, opening on January 25 and running through February 5, has announced two lineups today, the Tiger Awards Competition 2012 for first and second feature films — 15 films in all — and the Tiger Awards Competition for Short Films 2012 with 21 films.
