While I personally love modern horror films and all of their deliciously gory bells and whistles, my heart belongs to the old black and white horror/sci-fi flicks of the 50s and 60s. If you're in the same camp as I am, you'd better listen up.
Below you'll find the first official trailer and artwork for writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's new tale of old terrors, The Late Night Double Feature... a 2-in-1 film if you will.
Shane Donahue, Cherie "Rhuby" Gallinati, Mark Haider, Elizabeth Kaiser, Michael Kaiser, Stephanie Mihm, Daniel R. Sjerven, J. Andrew Wilkins, Mike Cook, Catherine Hansen, Alice Mihm, Daniel Mihm, Elliott Mihm, James Norgard, and Douglas Sidney star.
The Late Night Double Feature was written, directed, and edited by Christopher R. Mihm with stop-motion animation by Norman Yeend. Monster costume and special effects makeup are by Mitch Gonzales with electronic tonalities by Peter K. Flynn.

Never mind the upcoming mega movie events of the summer! It's time to make you aware of an all new event whose combined budget probably wouldn't even be Man of Steel's craft services budget. Wolverine's maybe, but definitely not Man of Steel.
From the Press Release
In the 1950s and 1960s, drive-ins began to spread like wildfire, increasing to more than 4,000 locations. The new sites may have begun as a venue to watch films, but interestingly, the main films that were shown were mostly considered to be B films. Patrons enjoyed them regardless and remained enthralled with what they saw – so much so that the drive-in became a part of American culture where people came together to socialize with each other. It was an experience all of its own making and is considered an important part of Americana.
Today there are fewer than 400 drive-ins currently in operation across the United States.

Joining Spiders and Big Ass Spider is now The Giant Spider - an indie sliver of retro goodness in the vein of the old black and white classic Tarantula, which featured - you guessed it - a super-sized arachnid of deadly proportions.
The film from writer/director Christopher R. Mihm stars Daniel R. Sjerven, Shannon McDonough, Mark Haider, Mike Cook, Jim Norgard, and Billie Jo Konze. Look for it later this year, possibly even as early as May.

Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm makes the sort of motion pictures that nobody seems to care about anymore, the sort of cheap, black-and-white genre efforts that choked drive-in theaters way back in the proverbial day. I thoroughly enjoyed “Attack of the Moon Zombies”, and I implore anyone with an undying passion for 50′s sci-fi/horror flicks to give it a go. Below you’ll find the trailer for Mihm’s latest effort, the 2012 spook flick “House of Ghosts”. You’ll know if it’s your cup of tea within the first few seconds of watching the clip. But first, an impossibly useful synopsis: With “House of Ghosts,” his first supernatural thriller, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm pays tribute to the works of the master of classic horror, William Castle! Rich socialites Isaac and Leigh have a tradition of throwing exclusive dinner parties that include unique (and expensive) forms of entertainment.

Christopher R. Mihm probably never thought in 2006 when he set out to make an affectionate throwback to black & white monster movies of a bygone era that he'd develop his own homegrown cottage industry of retro-style b-movies. Next week will bring the DVD release of his sixth do-it-yourself homage: Attack of the Moon Zombies.
Mihm has been cranking out a new tongue-in-cheek microbudget monster movie a year since getting started with 2006's Monster of Phantom Lake (review here). Since then he has It Came from Another World!, Cave Women of Mars, Terror from Beneath the Earth (review here), Destination Outer Space, and now Attack of the Moon Zombies. I admit I've only seen two of his films thus far but enjoyed both.
His latest, Attack of the Moon Zombies, will be released through his website (link below) May 25th and is already available for pre-order for the suitably low price of...

We’re back with another tribute to the 1950s from the filmmaker who brought you The Monster of Phantom Lake, It Came From Another World! And Cave Women on Mars… Christopher R. Mihm!
This time around Mihm dives into the darkest nether regions of the earth where a horrifying shock sensation awaits that will bring you thrills, chills and suspense like nothing before! That’s right folks, another mutant creature that is hell-bent on destroying the human race… and this one will eat you alive!
Years of underground atomic testing are never a good idea, especially in the Wisawa caves. Deep down in one of the cave systems caverns, a creature of the night has undergone a terrifying transformation and now it has a taste for flesh… human flesh!
Two small children enter the ominous caves only to be snatched away by a hairy clawed hand. Later that day, while...

It is the future: 1987
Hot dog everybody! We’ve got another Christopher R. Mihm movie!
Out of all Mihm’s movies, I must say that this one felt the most like a tribute and the least like a parody, which is not a bad thing. The film holds true to many of the 1950s space exploration movies and the production style and musical score do a wonderful job of re-creating the absurd atmosphere those movies held.
We follow the two-man crew of the Mars-1 spaceship, Captain Jackson and Lieutenant Elliott, as they land on the red planet and see what no man has seen before! Finding the surface of the planet oddly Earth-like, the duo discovers that the air has no hazardous or infectious agents so they don’t even need their space helmets. Of course!
After making the incredibly intelligent decision to split up, Lieutenant Elliot wanders into a...

Hold onto your seats folks, we’re back with another Christopher R. Mihm film, and this time he isn’t holding anything back.
Back with his signature 1950s style of movie-making, Mihm turns to the skies in the feature film, It Came From Another World! A second installment to his campy sci-fi tribute movies, we are promised “Excitement! Suspense! and Canoes!” as we are reintroduced to everyone’s favorite ‘A-Rockin’ scientist, Professor Jackson, from 2006’s The Monster of Phantom Lake.
Utilizing the same delightful humor as Phantom Lake, It Came From Another World! clocks in at 93 minutes long and let me tell you, this time around the actors have really hit their stride.
As the movie begins we find ourselves out in the woods with a Dr. Frasier, who is making observations out in the forest, as a mysterious rock from outer space crashes to Earth from the heavens above.

In today’s world, it is all to common for Hollywood to take an outdated movie and make a modern day remake, but few dare to come up with something new and put it into an outdated movie!
Don’t quite follow me? That’s understandable. I’m talking about writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and his great films, produced in the last few years, which are shot as a monochromatic tribute to the B-grade, drive-in movies of the 1950s. Mihm has come out with a movie a year starting almost four years ago with The Monster of Phantom Lake.
The Monster of Phantom Lake, Mihm’s first film, was released in March of 2006 to make its mark on the world. Black and white and clocking in at 97 minutes long, the film is a true homage film, immersing the viewer into the blaring din of clichés as rubber monster suits...

Finally the poster and trailer for Christopher R. Mihm's nature-run-amok opus Terror From Beneath the Earth have surfaced, and this indie blast from the past looks to deliver some old fashioned fun!
"After years of underground atomic testing, one of the animals living within the Wisawa caves (a system that stretches from Phantom Lake to the Deadlands) has undergone a radical and unimaginably horrible transformation! While exploring the caves, Dr. Vincent Edwards and colleague Rosemary Bennett stumble across evidence in the disappearance of local children. After reporting the find to the local sheriff, Dr. Edwards and Rosemary are tapped to lead a rescue attempt. Along with the sheriff and small-town farmer Stan Johnson (the children's father), the rescue party quickly comes to the realization that if the caves don't get them, whatever unseen terror lurking in the shadows just might!"
Sold yet? Fuck, dude, I am. I dig the whole retro vibe!

For the past 2-3 years an enterprising filmmaker named Christopher R. Mihm has been making his own homegrown homages to the classic black & white sci-fi monster movies of yore. I reviewed his first, Monster from Phantom Lake, a while back. Since then he has produced It Came from Another World and Cave Women on Mars. The first look at his latest, Terror from Beneath the Earth, due out next year, will be go online for Halloween - but only for a few hours.
