Despite hailing from one of the horror genre’s most consistent filmmakers coming off the back of Netflix’s smash hit The Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep didn’t find much of an audience when it hit theaters last year. While the Stephen King adaptation scored solid reviews, it disappointed at the box office after bringing in a little over $70 million on a $45 million budget, resulting in a loss for the studio and forcing any plans for a potential sequel to be abandoned.
Doctor Sleep came burdened with a lot of pressure as a direct continuation of the story told in The Shining, which is regarded as one of the greatest horror movies ever made, and while Flanagan managed to do a solid job in adapting the source material, there just wasn’t much interest from either fans of Stanley Kubrick’s classic, Stephen King’s...

It’s fair to say that most of the references and Easter Eggs in “Crisis on Infinite Earths” have been discovered since The CW event aired, while we’ve also learnt a lot about what might have been for the episodes. With the special currently being run again during the lockdown though, fans might spot some additional moments that were missed the first time around. However, according to The Flash writer Sterling Gates, there is one Easter Egg that no one’s spotted yet.
Gates, who’s an executive story editor on The Flash and co-wrote part three of the “Crisis,” revealed today on Twitter that his favorite reference hasn’t been picked up.
Also, no one has found my favorite DC Easter Egg yet.

This week’s episode of The Flash featured the return of the Reverse-Flash for the first time since last season. Though the villain sat out “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” he’s now back with a vengeance to make Barry Allen’s life hell once again. We don’t know the full circumstances surrounding his comeback yet, but we do know he’s without a form as he’s just possessed Nash Wells. And next week, Team Flash will have to get the evil speedster out of their friend’s body in the suitably titled episode “The Exorcism of Nash Wells.”
These new promo photos for the outing tease a tense confrontation between the two old enemies along the way. There’s always fireworks when Eobard Thawne drops by Central City, so this should be a good one. Just to make matters more complicated though, yet another meta has come out...

The Devil went down to… Earth-666, when Lucifer Morningstar popped up during Part 3 of the Arrowverse‘s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event. To those who were legit surprised on Tuesday night, the cameo was one Hell of a fun moment, as Legends of Tomorrow‘s John Constantine asked his old friend for a favor to help Arrow‘s John Diggle and Mia Smoak-Queen make a freshly resurrected Oliver Queen as right as rain.
Some Arrowverse fans, however, had gotten wind of the unexpected crossover cameo when a Vancouver-based “autograph hound” spotted Lucifer star Tom Ellis filming with Matt Ryan,...

“Crisis on Infinite Earths” is just two weeks away from arriving at last. And, following on from last week’s release of images from Parts One and Two, The CW has just dropped a boatload of promo photos for the third chapter in the must-see Arrowverse event. Among many other things, the pics tease many of the team-ups we can expect from the crossover – chief among them, the arrival of Cress Williams’ Black Lightning and the return of John Wesley Shipp as Earth-90’s Flash.
Be sure to check them out, along with the plot summary, down below:

A Crisis is coming – specifically, it’s kicking off on December 8th. The crossover we’ve all been waiting for is finally on the horizon and so The CW is rolling out some official synopses for the five episodes that comprise the event, and they give us our clearest feel yet for how the storyline will develop.
This synopsis for “Part Three” of “Crisis on Infinite Earths” confirms that this is the installment which will cross Black Lightning over to the Arrowverse at last, with Tom Cavanagh’s Pariah being the one to transport him over to Earth-1. What’s more, the description settles a mystery fans have been chewing over for a while: which one of his many characters John Wesley Shipp will play in “Crisis.” It’s Earth-90’s Flash, the role he first portrayed back in 1990.

Despite how I personally believe The Flash‘s sixth season hasn’t gotten off to the greatest of starts, there’s still much potential to be tapped – at least in the eyes of this writer. Aside from how “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will change the Arrowverse landscape forever, it’s worth noting how two big bads will menace Central City this year, effectively dividing the season in half.

Although there’s not always a guarantee of it, TV shows will tie into major holidays from time to time. When Smallville was around, the producers confirmed that the network sometimes mandated that Valentine’s Day or Halloween must be observed during a certain season, and I’m instantly reminded of the classic Supernatural episode, “A Very Supernatural Christmas.”
Speaking of Christmas, it seems like the Arrowverse is virtually guaranteed to check off that box each year. Then again, the December holiday often coincides with its midseason finales, so it’s probably often incorporated so that we get the sense of the show unfolding in somewhat real time.
When it comes to The Flash specifically, it’s now looking like Halloween won’t go unnoticed in a few weeks, as the official synopsis for “There Will Be Blood” indicates:

I think it’s safe to say that we were all surprised by how last week’s episode of The Flash concluded. Well, Cicada’s decision to take the metahuman cure wasn’t the biggest of shockers, but the swift arrival of his successor certainly was. And if that weren’t enough, we learned her identity to be that of his niece, Grace Gibbons, somehow aged to adulthood.
If I were to guess, there are two possibilities as to how Grace could’ve claimed the mantle of Cicada: one is that her recently manifested powers awoke her from the coma and aged her by a decade or two. The other would be that she’s still in the coma, but Cicada II is a mental projection. Don’t forget, we got a hint at this several weeks ago when venturing inside of her mind.

Those who’ve been keeping up with the series are aware of how Nora West-Allen has been in collusion with her father’s archenemy, Eobard Thawne. And once she learned of their history, the alliance has weighed on her conscience. But here’s the kicker: the Reverse-Flash genuinely sounds repentant, so he could actually be helping out.
Odds are we have a while to go before learning if there’s truth to that, but it’s worth mentioning that Nora will finally spill the beans to her parents during next week’s episode.

From the look of it, the producers behind The Flash really put a lot of thought into the trio of episodes currently unfolding. Last night, Cicada willingly took the metahuman cure – only for yet another Cicada to emerge and take his place. And if that weren’t enough, Godspeed finally debuts in 5×18.
Sandwiched in between those is next week’s adventure, that being “Time Bomb.” In case you hadn’t heard, this’ll be when Nora finally reveals to her parents, Barry and Iris, that she’s been in collusion with Eobard Thawne this entire time. And based on what’s been offered in the promo video embedded at the top of the article, it’s the Reverse-Flash himself who encourages her to spill the beans.
If you listen to his voice, there really seems to be a sense of urgency, thereby forcing me to believe that something terrible is indeed on the way.

Actually, they’re two distinct women living within the same body, so it’s important we not confuse her with those who simply suit up and fight crime.
Funny enough, they’ve begun working in tandem in recent months, even leaving notes for each other. Personally, I love seeing as much of the Killer Frost half of the equation as I can, though it’s hard to part with Caitlin herself because she’s been around since the pilot episode. Perhaps it’s conflicted viewers like myself who’ve forced the producers to continue giving us the best of both worlds.

Tonight’s episode of The Flash promises to be one of the show’s most high concept outings yet. Titled “Enter Flashtime,” it’ll see Barry Allen enter a permanent state of slowed down time in order to think of a way to save Central City when a nuclear bomb begins to go off. It’s a tough situation, but at least he’ll have a couple of speedster friends to help him, namely Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) and Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp).
But what is Flashtime exactly? Unusually, it’s an original concept for the TV series, and one that’s only been introduced this season. Back in “The Trial of the Flash,” Barry used the ability to hold a conversation with Iris in the middle of his court proceedings. In this episode, the premise is entirely based around the device, which should make things interesting.
John Wesley Shipp recently spoke to ComicBook.

After being left disappointed by the first few episodes in the current season of The Flash, I’m glad to say that I’m starting to feel as glued to my TV set as I was back in seasons 1 and 2. After thinking the producers wouldn’t be able to top the shocking midseason finale, I was quite pleased to see them continue leaving us in a state of disbelief after viewing last night’s “The Trial of the Flash.”
Long story short, the creative minds behind the series kicked off 2018 with a bang by actually having Barry Allen being found guilty for the murder of Clifford DeVoe. Of course, we the viewers know he’s innocent, but it’s forcing us to wonder how the Scarlet Speedster will get out of this one.
In his stead, Ralph Dibny will be forced to step up in a major way when a...

In the view of myself and a fair amount of fans, The Flash season 4 has thus far proven to be a mixed bag. For the first six episodes, the producers tried so hard to stray from the darkness of season 3 that they made pretty much every line of dialogue a quip, effectively reducing the show to a farce in short order.
But, with episode 4×07, we saw a turnaround of sorts, as the magic of seasons 1 and 2 was seemingly being recaptured. To be honest, we owe much of our gratitude to the Thinker and all the riveting storytelling and shocking plot twists he’s brought along with him. Really, it’s okay to smile here and there, but this is The CW, not Disney Xd.
Having said all that, we’re hoping that the series don’t fall into a forcefully comedic quagmire in the next few weeks as Ralph Dibny,...

So far, the latest season of The Flash hasn’t wasted any time when it comes to introducing more heroes and villains culled from the DC Universe, with the likes of the Thinker and Hazard already putting in appearances. But next week, we’ll be treated to what may be one of the more memorable debuts to be seen this year when Hartley Sawyer makes his first appearance as Ralphy Dibny Aka the Elongated Man.
What’s especially exciting about this is that “Elongated Journey Into Night” will be the first time the character of Dibny will have ever been seen in live action. Previously, he’s appeared on animated favorites such as Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, but you have to admit there’s something special about seeing flesh and blood actors embodying beloved superheroes. After being forced to endure the long summer hiatus, we can now rest easy as each of our favorite DC shows have finally returned with a round of spectacular premieres. And now that the fall season is in full swing, we continue looking ahead, this time at episodes of The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow that are set to air on Halloween.
First up, on Tuesday, October 31 will be the scandalously titled “Elongated Journey into Night,” which will obviously see the much anticipated introduction of Elongated Man/Ralph Dibny to the series. From what we can gather via the synopsis, it sounds like he and the Scarlet Speedster will be rivals of sorts at first, but we expect them to patch up things eventually because a great mind like that of Dibny’s will prove to be a valuable asset in the coming battle against the Thinker.

By now, it’s certainly been well established that production for the fourth season of The Flash is well underway. With that, we expect there to be new blood not only in front of the camera, but behind it as well.
So, it pleases us to say that one very welcome addition to the writing staff is that of Sterling Gates, whom many of you may remember from his extended stay on the Supergirl comics. And knowing how this series already employs the likes of others who’ve written comic books such as Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti – not to mention that DC head honcho Geoff Johns co-developed the show – it’s probably safe to say that Gates will feel right at home.
As for how this became public knowledge, we have Gates himself to thank for that, as he recently took to Twitter by revealing that he’ll be...

You know, in hindsight, perhaps “intriguing” isn’t the best word. In this first look at next week’s episode of Supergirl, Mister Mxyzptlk arrives in National City to creepily ask for Kara Danvers’ hand in marriage, something the Girl of Steel isn’t too pleased with, especially after he conjures up a wedding dress for her.
For those of you unfamiliar with the villain, Mister Mxyzptlk is a reality warping bad guy who’s been a thorn in Superman’s side for decades, and while he’s often harmless enough, he also happens to be incredibly powerful and capable of changing the world as we know it on a whim.

In October 2012, Us network The CW launched the first season of Arrow, after wrapping up no fewer than ten seasons of Superman origin show Smallville a year before. Arrow was a completely new take on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, in a new universe that had nothing to do with Smallville or its version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. The series proved quite the hit for The CW, and a second season renewal inevitably followed. In season two, we were introduced to forensic scientist Barry Allen, better known to DC Comics readers as The Flash. Arrow got a third season, The Flash got his own TV show with great success, and the live action shared DC Comics universe on TV was born. And with it the question: how does it all fit together?...

Syfy has greenlit David S. Goyer's TV pilot "Krypton" as a "Man Of Steel" prequel, following the grandfather of Superman, two generations before 'Kal-El' landed on Earth:
"...the series will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose 'House of El' was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos...."
"It won’t be wall to wall visual effects every single moment," said Goyer.
"...we’ll also be digging into the characters and the culture a lot more", similar to DC Comics' "Man of Steel" movie prequel, written by Sterling Gates and illustrated by Jerry Ordway:
"...the mystery of the empty, open 'cryo-pod' in the movie 'Man of Steel' is no mystery at all:
"...the sarcophagus' missing incumbent is 'Kara Zor-El', aka 'Supergirl'.

Geek Culture in popular media has some dark and grisly stories to tell. I’m talking about shows like Gotham, The Walking Dead, Deadpool and the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. But it’s a big tent with lots of room.
CBS’s Supergirl show is on the other end of the spectrum. Supergirl is a positive, upbeat program that focuses on heroism without the grimness or grittiness that so many other comic shows embrace.
Over the years, however, Supergirl’s adventures have had many different styles. She’s run the gamut from being sweet and innocent to sultry and sexy (with goth-esque overtones). With a fresh and friendly point of view, Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle jumped onboard to the Supergirl comic in 2008. They never looked back. Today we see so much of what they brought to the party baked into television’s version of Supergirl.

If the fact that it was recently given a full season order by CBS wasn’t proof enough, look no further than Supergirl getting its own tie-in series for proof that it’s going to be sticking around for the long haul. Like Arrow and The Flash before it, DC Comics are launching a digital series which will take place in the world of the TV show.

The plan is for Adventures of Supergirl to last for 13 chapters before being released as a graphic novel once it’s finished. While it won’t directly tie into the events of the TV show, it will apparently feature the character working alongside the Deo to combat...
