The ninth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” promises a major shake-up to the classic formula when it premieres on Friday, May 17, 2024 on Paramount Plus. For the first time ever, the eight returning contestants will be competing not for their own prize money, but for a $200,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Also of note, these Season 9 queens will never be at risk of elimination, which follows the structure previously seen on Season 7 (the all-winners cycle).
For three of the competitors, this will be their third time taking part on a “Drag Race” installment; the other five are all back for their second time. Who is Your favorite queen from this group? “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on February 23 with the eighth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode seven, Plasma enjoyed her shining moment as the star and challenge winner in “The Sound of Rusic” while Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige and Megami didn’t strike a chord with the judges in their supporting roles. Despite a flipless Lip Sync for Your Life, Mhi’ya came out on top once again and sent Megami back to New York.
This week, the remaining 9 queens head to the celebrity dais with the classic impersonation challenge, “Snatch Game.” Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 8 was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, recurring judge Carson Kressley, and actress Kyra Sedgwick as the extra special guest.
The queens still vying for the crown are: Dawn, Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige, Morphine Love Dion, Nymphia Wind,...

Chris here, filling in for Nathaniel's weekly recap of RuPaul's Drag Race. This week was everyone's perennial favorite: Snatch Game! Past seasons have made this celebrity impersonation challenge a complete game changer, catapulting contenders like Jinkx Monsoon and Chad Michaels straight to the finals. In fact, only one Snatch Game winner has ever placed less than fifth place: season three's Stacy Layne Matthews (performing as Mo'Nique via her Oscar-winning Precious performance).
You could easily argue that this challenge is more anticipated than the season finale's crowning, and after last season's unmemorable edition, fans were hungry for this year's queens to bring the laughs.
S8.05 "Supermodel Snatch Game"
And it brings me no joy to tell you that the episode was an unfortunate dud.

RuPaul announced that some of the best tuckers in the biz would be returning for another season of RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race. It's been three years since the first outing, which — no tea, no shade — resulted in one the most forgettable seasons ever (Sorry, Chad Michaels). While we'd rather just chow down on some sleeping pills and forget the season ever happened, we thought we'd revisit exactly what makes Drag Race so good, and how to make the second season of All Stars something that'll have us gagging. No teams! The major problem during the first go-around was the fact that each contestant got paired with another. And as much as we loved Rujubee, the format resulted in double eliminations that created an abbreviated season (six episodes, which maybe was the point) where the story lines didn't fully uncork. It felt distinctly unfair, for instance, when Pandora...

Here are things Jennifer Lawrence can do well: Act. Give interviews. Mock Jack Nicholson for interrupting one of her interviews. Use a crossbow. Make David O. Russell films seem more human than they have any right to be. You know what's not on that list? An impression of Cher. No, J-Law. Hello Giggles tried telling us that J-Law's impersonation of Cher on "Conan" was, and I quote, "spot-on." Oh no, Hello Giggles. No, it wasn't. The thing is, we live in an age where many people have mastered the art of impersonating Cher. They have worked hard to capture her specific "Jimmy Stewart is drowning" instrument and they've done it. Let's remember to respect those artists before we go proclaiming J-Law the new Frank Caliendo. J-Law's impersonation is merely croaky, and Cher does not croak. She does a quavery whinny. There. Quickly, watch this video of "RuPaul's Drag Race" season...

This is the first time that these episodes have been shown on free to air UK TV - and as if that wasn't enough, each episode will be followed by sister show RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked.
The show sees legendary star RuPaul Charles guiding a group of hopeful drag queens through the competition, as they face styling, personality and performance challenges in an attempt to win the season.
And to make things even better, the bottom two contestants in each episode lip sync for their lives before RuPaul decides which one of them hasn't made the cut.

On tonight's episode of Hello Ross, a very special guest rises from the dead to make an appearance. *Spoiler Alert: If you haven't watched the past few episodes of Scandal, do not read any further! For those of you who have kept up with your Scandal schedule, sadly you are aware that the beloved character of James Novak (played by Dan Bucatinsky) was killed off and didn't receive a proper send-off. Vulture is holding the ultimate Reality Rumble to determine the greatest season of the greatest reality-tv shows, from The Real World on. Each day, a different writer will be charged with determining the winner of a round of the bracket, until Vulture's Margaret Lyons judges the finals on March 25. As round one continues, Tara Ariano pits RuPaul's Drag Race's fourth season (the Sharon Needles/Chad Michaels/Phi Phi O'Hara showdown) against the seismic and groundbreaking first season of Survivor, which introduced the world to alliances. On the surface, RuPaul's Drag Race seems like a winking spin on America's Next Top Model, with RuPaul self-awarely sending up Tyra's mother-hen loopiness. But at its core, it is perhaps the most hardcore talent competition in TV history — and no, I'm not kidding. Where contestants on other performance competition shows have their future staked on one talent, Drag Race queens need to be...

Over a hundred thousand votes have been cast so far in our Queens Tournament which pits all sixty previous RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants in a bracket style tourney to see who truly is the Ultimate Queen. We’re down to just 16 fabulous ladies, and it’s anyone’s guess who will come out on top.
Round 2, which closed this weekend contained some real nailbiter brackets: Raja beat out Raven by a mere 220 votes, Jiggly Caliente pulled a surprising upset and knocked out Carmen Carrera by a 40 vote lead, and perhaps the biggest upset of all: Jessica Wild put the lid on Pandora Boxx by a mere 18 votes.
For handy reference – here is the overall leaderboard for remaining contestants after Round 2…

Over a hundred thousand votes were cast in Round 1 of The RuPaul’s Drag Race Queens Tournament and 32 contenders for the crown are left standing.
A couple of observations about the contest so far: First off, there was a clear winner in almost every single bracket of Round 1. Only one of the 32 matchups was even close. (And kudos to Victoria “Porkchop” Parker who beat out an actual pork chop by four votes!) Things are likely to get far more competitive in Round 2 when the more popular remaining queens start going up against each other.
Second, we included four joke “spoiler” entries in Round 1 to make it an even 64 competitors in the bracket tourney. We didn’t really expect the joke contestants to make it past the first round… and yet three of them did: “a block of mahogany”, 2 piece and a biscuit and “Grumpy Cat”. Here’s hoping they don’t survive the second round.

The 2013 NewNowNext Awards were taped over the weekend, and we have a pictorial preview of what to expect when the show airs tonight at 10/9c on Logo. Basically, insanity, glamor, and a gaggle of stars (gaggle is the appropriate description of a group of gays and gay-adjacents).

Shante, you slay.
We're nearing the end of RuPaul's Drag Race's fifth season, and that means it's time to make an important list: the 10 funniest queens in the show's history. In an age when people like Vivienne Pinay and Ivy Winters insist that fishiness is more important than comic chops, we need to fight back. I watch this show for unbridled sauciness, wit, and unapologetic humor, and these ten queens all boasted fine gut-busting instincts.
10. Detox
I have to be honest: I nearly gave this spot to Tatianna, whose performance as Britney Spears remains Snatch Game's most hilarious triumph, but Detox is truly the funnier performer. Her wise-ass commentaries, chicken fierceness, amazing side-eye, jaw-wagging lip-sync skills, and general weariness of everything are total treats. She'd probably laugh more at herself if her facial muscles were capable of abject glee. I'm always waiting to hear her next confessional, particularly after...

RuPaul's Drag Race is a competition based on the unbeatable criteria of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, but a quick glance at the show's contestant history proves that deadly good looks may be a part of the package. And sometimes the package is part of the deadliness. Ow-ow! Cue the chicken laugh, Detox.

The tradition of Bond girls began with Dr. No's Ursula Andress and continues through Skyfall's Bérénice Marlohe. But the producers have always had such a narrow definition of what a Bond girl should be: tall, busty, sultry — and born a woman. Come on, Broccoli family, it's 2012! And so Vulture presents a suggestion for a new kind of Bond girl: The Bond Drag Queen. As an example of just how well this would work, Patrick Sullivan designed posters featuring three of RuPaul's Drag Race's most memorable contestants as classic Bond girls. See Chad Michaels as Goldfinger's Pussy Galore, Raven as Dr. No's Honey Ryder, and Latrice Royale as A View to a Kill's Mayday.

As those of you who've been keeping up with RuPaul's Drag Race on Logo are well aware, Sharon Needles was just crowned America's Next Drag Superstar. What makes her victory meaningful for horror fans is that Needles is an unabashed fan of our favorite genre, which has inspired much of her outrageous wardrobe. More after the jump. All hail the queen! After weeks of competition - not to mention countless wigs, sparkling outfits and especially oddly colored contact lenses - Sharon Needles was crowned America's Next Drag Superstar on RuPaul's Drag Race. Sharon, from Pittsburgh's underground drag community, beat out polished veteran performer Chad Michaels and a feisty young showgirl named Phi Phi O'Hara on Monday's episode. The queens from the Logo show's fourth season were at a party at Xl nightclub in New York City to watch the show and celebrate Sharon's big win, which includes a $100,000 prize. RuPaul's Drag Race: Why Sharon Needles Deserves To Win
Tonight, fans of RuPaul's Drag Race will finally find out just who will win the title of America's Next Drag Superstar during highly anticipated reunion special. Due to the events of last week's finale, this post was postponed until today. However, there were more reasons why I held off on writing this article. Some were time related and others were of a conflicting way due to some hurtful and damaging remarks that came across my peripheral, which forced me to reevaluate my stance on a certain contestant that I cheered for throughout the competition. Thanks to a chance look on my Facebook timeline today and the unwavering faith I had in someone, I can rectify that situation by not only finally getting this article written, but by apologizing to Sharon Needles for even letting one glimmer of doubt taint my judgement of her character.

Your channel guide may have told you that this past Monday's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race was supposed to be the finale, when classy Cher impersonator Chad Michaels, spooky, stupid and sensational goth-chic Sharon Needles, or annoying and ambitious Phi Phi O'Hara would take the crown, and the cash.
But when the time came for the final announcement, instead of this season's highly anticipated winner, Ru revealed a twist: This year's Next Drag Superstar will be revealed at next Monday's reunion special. Lots of fans were angry to have to wait for the results -- and at the usually cheeky and smart reality show's shameless pleas for Twitter and Facebook votes -- but personally, I'm just excited to have a whole 'nother week to espouse my Rpdg finale theories! It was a trip down memory lane looking back at the season on this week's "RuPaul's Drag Race" (Mon., 10 p.m. Et on Logo). One of the things that's helped make this season so memorable is the star-studded judging panel they've managed to line up.
Celebrities from Kelly Osbourne to Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Pamela Anderson and others graced the stage and proved that they could have as much campy fun as RuPaul does on the show.
The "Glamazon" rewind featured plenty of behind-the-scenes footage, including some conversations that may have been a little too hot and distracting for the show, but were perfect fodder for this sort of thing.

I have no interest in 'real.' I find real people boring."
Those telling words were spoken by the actress Rose McGowan on the penultimate episode of the latest season of RuPaul's Drag Race. I suddenly appreciate Rose more. It's true that reality is not exactly her forte. She's best known as a television witch and when popular culture eventually forgets her, isn't it entirely likely that the single enduring image from her career will be that Grindhouse chick with a machine gun for a leg. It doesn't get more much unreal than that.
The final four drag contestants were the acclaimed Cher-loving Chad Michaels, the large glamourous Latrice Royale, "busted show queen" Phi Phi O'Hara and funny spooky Sharon Needles. I knew that hateful Phi Phi would make the final three because someone despicable always makes it to reality tv finales. But never mind that. Let's talk movie references!

Rose McGowan and Wynonna Judd sat in on the week's festivities on "RuPaul's Drag Race" (Mon., 10 p.m. Et on Logo). But it was a heartbreaking finale, as arguably the season's most beloved queen was told to sashay away. First, though, it was another challenge win for Sharon Needles, who impressed McGowan with a pair of fierce furry boots she admitted to spending five-and-a-half hours creating. They matched the poodle she strutted beside perfectly.
When it came time for the elimination, even RuPaul seemed saddened to be saying goodbye. "I bow to you," she said to Latrice Royale, who's big heart had won over everyone in the competition, and everyone at home.
But it was Royal's farewell speech that had McGowan in tears, emphasizing what she saw as the importance of a show like this. "You have changed my life forever," Royale told Ru. "You have changed the world of drag forever.

It was "Dragazine" week on "RuPaul's Drag Race" (Mon. 10 p.m. Et on Logo) as the contestants each had to produce their own magazine.
As usual, the competition was fierce, but there may also have been some deliberate sabotage going on.
Jiggly Caliente was pondering making it "real" and making his dragazine a serious publication. Was that such a good idea?
Chad Michaels certainly didn't think so. "I suggest you do not do this for real," he warned. "I think you should make it funny. Everybody likes to laugh."
However, Phi Phi O'Hara decided to step in and offer some advice, telling Jiggly to keep it real "if you feel like you can get more with the serious route." Was it a sincere attempt to help Jiggly? Or was it more sinister?
An outraged Latrice Royale thought Phi Phi was just being "shady!"

This RuPaul's Drag Race recap will only hurt at little bit...
This week's RuPaul's Drag Race brought the annual "Snatch Game" challenge, a loopy homage to the classic 1970s game show Match Game wherein the Drag Race contestants must impersonate famous celebs. If that little synopsis made no sense, no bother: basically, it's just a fun, comedic free-for-all hosted by RuPaul, with the competing queens battling to see who can snag the most laughs as they channel celebs such as Aretha Franklin, Jessica Simpson, Snooki, and others.
Chad Michaels is a seasoned Cher impersonator, and he lived up to his formidable rep. But fellow queen Sharon Needles surprised everyone when she decided to play a certain celeb much closer to home: Drag Race judge Michelle Visage.

Last month, the startlingly addictive reality show RuPaul's Drag Race, in which drag queens compete to snatch the crown of America's next drag superstar, started up for its fourth go around the track. This season is looking to be, as is the lingo, fierce. The new crew seems talented -- spunky and inventive, with an eye for the kinds of drama that make for "good television." Still, for a big-time show about a subcultural community, there's a lot of scary subtext bubbling under snappy comments and titular editing.
The racial polemics of RuPaul's Drag Race have been evident from the first season, when BeBe Zahara Benet was crowned over Nina Flores and Rebecca Glasscock due, in part, to her Miss-America-style appeals for health awareness in her native country, Cameroon (birthing her trademark call, "Camarooooon"). Back then, a fellow African-American contestant, Akasha, expressed her desire to be "a stripper or a...

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 4, Episode 3 of "RuPaul's Drag Race."
Latrice Royale is sad to see that all of her girls are gone from "RuPaul's Drag Race" and Princess, as the shantayed queen, is given the honor of wiping Lashauwn's lipstick message off the mirror. She says she had fun lip-syncing for her life, Even though being in the bottom two was awful. She thinks Jiggly deserved to be there instead of her and I'm pretty sure she says that in front of Jiggly.
Anyway, ohhhh, gurl. We got SheMail. Ru says if you want to live forever, you can be a champion. Then she drops some more song titles in her spiel, which she notes, are all available on iTunes.
