FX’s docuseries Dear Mama set a new ratings high for an unscripted series debut on the Disney-owned outlet.
The chronicle of the lives of Tupac and Afeni Shakur, which premiered April 21, passed Welcome to Wrexham as FX’s most watched unscripted debut in cross-platform viewers. The full cross-platform figures aren’t being released, per FX policy, but the majority of Dear Mama’s audience likely streamed the show on Hulu.
The two-episode premiere of Dear Mama, directed by Allen Hughes, averaged about 185,000 viewers for its on-air debut (episode one drew 196,000). That trailed Welcome to Wrexham’s linear premiere in August 2022 (it averaged 271,000 viewers for its first two episodes), but Dear Mama made up the difference with streaming and other delayed viewing. Streaming often makes up the majority of viewing for series that originate on ad-supported and premium cable outlets.

Chris Rock and Christian Bale are facing a sticky situation in the manic first look at director David O. Russell’s star-studded thriller “Amsterdam.”
“You have a dead white man in a box,” Rock’s character says at the start of the trailer. “Not even a casket. It doesn’t even have a top on it.” As he wheels the pine container away, he laments: “Who do you think is going to get in trouble here?”
From there, the 1930s-set trailer backs up in time to offer a little context to the confounding circumstances at hand. Described as “a fascinating and richly intricate tale that brilliantly weaves historical fact with fiction,” the crime epic follows three close friends — two soldiers played by Bale and John David Washington and a nurse portrayed by Margot Robbie — who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.

Mickey Rourke Fantasy Horror Movie ‘Warhunt’ Wraps After Shooting During Covid-19 Crisis (Exclusive)
World War II fantasy horror movie “Warhunt,” starring Mickey Rourke, has wrapped after it continued shooting during the Covid-19 crisis.
The crew on the project, which shot in Riga, capital of Latvia, were allowed to continue working by abiding by government guidelines. These included having to don facemasks and gloves, having their temperature taken twice a day, social distancing, and disinfecting equipment.
Rourke says: “I came to Riga to work and this thing (Covid-19) was so out of control, but everyone was so great.”
Yu-Fai Suen, one of the producers, says Rourke’s dates had to be adjusted. “We had to rearrange the schedule for Mickey Rourke as the country was closing its borders, and luckily he agreed to fly early to beat the closure, and we rescheduled his shoot days to accommodate this change.”
Speaking about the adjustments on set, Suen says: “There were additional procedures on set, but...
