A new take on “The Boondock Saints” is in the works with the 1999 cult film’s original stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery reprising their roles as the MacManus Brothers.
Thunder Road Pictures, which produces the “John Wick” franchise and the upcoming “Monkey Man” from Dev Patel, announced it is teaming with the rights holder Dragonfly Films to the original 1999 cult film “The Boondock Saints” to jointly produce what’s being described as a “reimagining” rather than a direct sequel. Dragonfly Films also confirmed the news on its Instagram.
Reedus and Flanery both portrayed the Irish Catholic killers rooting out Boston crime all in the name of the Lord in the original film, and they also returned for the 2009 follow-up film, “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.” However, Troy Duffy, the story’s original director and writer, will not direct the new film but will produce it. Exclusive: The rebirth of the 1999 cult favorite film The Boondock Saints is upon us. Thunder Road, the producer behind the John Wick films, has stepped in and joined rights-holder Dragonfly Films to make what they are calling a universe expansion of the action film franchise about the fraternal twin Irish brothers who raise holy hell to rid their Boston hometown of all criminals.
In the current configuration, Troy Duffy will step aside as director after creating and helming the original and the 2009 sequel The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day. Both films starred The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery as the MacManus brothers, with Billy Connolly playing their father.
Reedus and Flanery will reprise their roles, and the search is on for a new director. Duffy plans to write a series of books about the Saints, continuing their story that way.
There might be a renaissance going on for these action franchises,...

Exclusive: Shaun Redick & Yvette Yates Redick’s production company, Impossible Dream Entertainment, is developing a series adaptation of Twenty Years Later, Kensington’s 2021 bestseller from author Charlie Donlea.
While the Redicks will be spearheading production, Brandon and Justin Weber’s Monte Cristo Entertainment along with Corey McGowan’s Lazy Mary Pictures were instrumental in acquiring rights to the book. The Weber Brothers have penned the adaptation and will exec produce alongside McGowan.
A mystery thriller in the vein of Big Little Lies, True Detective, and Gone Girl, Twenty Years Later follows Avery Mason, TV host of American Events, who knows her latest story – a murder mystery laced with sex, tragedy, and betrayal – is ratings gold. With new technology, the New York medical examiner’s office has made its first successful identification of a 9/11 victim in years. The twist: the victim in question, Victoria Ford, had been accused of murder at the time of her death.

Chad Stahelski is paying it forward.
When he’s not conducting well-choreographed chaos for Keanu Reeves’ John Wick, Stahelski strives to lift up the stunt community that launched his career as a stunt performer, as well as his second act as a director. With the success of the John Wick franchise, Stahelski and his company, 87eleven Entertainment, now have the cachet to create opportunities for other stunt professionals with filmmaking aspirations, just like Reeves did for him and his former partner, David Leitch.
So when Stahelski’s friend and John Wick: Chapter 2 supervising stunt coordinator J.J. Perry approached him and 87eleven Entertainment President Jason Spitz with a script called Day Shift, they both jumped on it and had it polished so they could pitch the vampire action-comedy to Netflix. Last Friday, Netflix released a fun vampire slayer action flick called Day Shift (you can read our 7/10 review Here)… and if you watched the movie, you may have noticed that it had a goofy end credits song called “Mowing Down Vamps”, which built a tune around a line spoken by the character played by Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist). The song around Franco’s line was performed by The Bsb Boys (J Young Mdk and Sam Pounds) alongside the film’s star Jamie Foxx (Spider-Man: No Way Home) – and now Foxx has released a video for the song.
The music video, directed by Taylor Chien, features Foxx, Franco, some vampire fights, and a good dose of silliness. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Exclusive: Impossible Dream Entertainment & Lienzo Gaming Studio have partnered on Aztech, a live action Latinx-themed feature film that is based on the upcoming video game Aztech Forgotten Gods.
The producers are Impossible Dream Entertainment’s Yvette Yates Redick and Shaun Redick, the latter of whom produced BlacKkKlansman and Get Out, with Lienzo Gaming Studio and Carlos Yates the exec producers. They’ll shop it shortly.
The premise is a revisionist historical telling of Aztec history, sprinkled with an extraterrestrial antagonist. In what sounds like Mexico and Central America’s answer to Wakanda, European powers never arrived on the shores of ancient Mesoamerica. The story takes place in a future where the Aztec empire was never conquered, and flourished into a hyper-advanced, cutting-edge civilization. The Aztec Empire’s capital, Tenochtitlan, has thrived for centuries as a stone metropolis, technologically elevated yet heavily rooted in the ways of those indigenous to the land.

It looks like Netflix might beat Marvel’s upcoming Blade movie to the punch, as the streaming giant is pushing forward on a new horror-action flick starring Jamie Foxx as a single dad/vampire hunter. Collider revealed the news this Tuesday that the Oscar-winning actor is set to lead Day Shift, which comes from the filmmakers behind the likes of Fast & Furious and John Wick.
J.J. Perry is due to make his directorial debut with the project, following his well known work as a second unit director and stunt coordinator for the hit movies mentioned above and many more. The Wonderfilm Media Corporation announced today that Amityville 1974 has been given the green light to begin principal photography in November with its story of the real-life rampage murders that would became the background story for author Jay Anson’s 1977 bestseller The Amityville Horror and the numerous films that have invoked it in name or premise.
The Anson novel was adapted to the screen in a namesake feature film that became a cultural sensation in the summer of 1979 and one of the most lucrative hits in Hollywood history with its tale of hostile supernatural forces at work in a home in a Long Island, N.Y., shoreline village called Amityville. The 1979 hit was “re-imagined” twice in theatrically released films but over the years 20-plus other productions (either direct-to-video or for television) have used the real-life village...

In what has been an ever-changing scenario since the race for the 91st annual Academy Awards began in earnest at the beginning of September with the fall festival trifecta of Venice, Telluride and Toronto, the hunt for Oscar has been as confounding and difficult to call as ever. The so-called precursor awards have been all over the map. Critics groups, BAFTA, and DGA drifted towards Roma; the Golden Globes loved Green Book (which also took the top PGA honor) and Bohemian Rhapsody; BAFTA showered seven wins from 12 nominations on hometown favorite The Favourite; everyone seemed to root for Spike Lee’s best-in-decades BlacKkKlansman; SAG gave their top prize to box office behemoth Black Panther; an early frontrunner was A Star Is Born; a latecomer was Vice.
The Academy nominated all eight of these films for its top prize, but the outcome remains murky and will probably stay that way right...

So far the film awards season has largely been shaped by box office dollars from the moviegoing public and assessments from committees of critics, journalists and other professionals. The actual industry has only just begun to weigh in, starting with last week’s Annie Awards nominations announcement.
The Screen Actors Guild will add its collective voice Wednesday with a list of performance nominations, and next week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will narrow the field in nine categories with a bundle of shortlists. After the new year, other guilds and organizations representing various disciplines will join the party. But before that whirlwind takes hold, it’s high time for a stab at predicting the nominees in the Academy’s 21 feature film categories.

“Get Out” director Jordan Peele is producing the film through his Monkeypaw production banner, as is that film’s producer Jason Blum via Blumhouse. Other producers include Lee, Shaun Redick, and Raymond Mansfield for QC Entertainment. QC’s Edward H. Hamm Jr. will serve as Executive Producer.
“BlackKkKlansman” is the follow-up to Lee’s last film, “Chi-Raq,” a 2015 satirical update of the Greek comedy “Lysistrata” that takes the story of women who deny sex to their warmongering husbands and places it in modern-day inner-city Chicago. Lee is also in pre-production on season 2 of his Netflix series “She’s Gotta Have It,” an update of his 1986 feature-length debut. He is repped by ICM Partners.
