Hong Kong director and UFO (United Filmmakers Organization) founder Lee Chi Ngai returns with “Horseplay”, an old-fashioned crime comedy boasting an all-star cast and exotic European locations. Though an acclaimed director, best known for the much loved “Lost and Found”, Lee isn’t exactly prolific, and the film is his first feature length Chinese language offering since “Magic Kitchen” back in 2004, following his segment in last year’s horror omnibus “Tales from the Dark”. Hk favourites Kelly Chen, Ekin Cheng and Tony Leung Ka Fai headline, with support from the likes of Eric Tsang, Wong Cho Lam and Mandy Lieu in a light-hearted tale of cops, robbers and art theft. Chen stars as Mui, an entertainment journalist who’s overjoyed when she gets the chance to combine a trip to London to attend her friend’s wedding with an assignment to try and track down a notorious art thief called...

The “comedy” element of Wong Jing’s martial arts action flick Princess and Seven Kung Fu Masters may be cause to pause, but it’s the fact the cast it chock full of some martial arts action legends, that’s really caught our attention. Sammo Hung leads the cast along with Sandra Ng, Ronald Cheng, Eric Tsang, Wong Cho Lam,and Wah Yuen. We nabbed a first look a the teaser poster and a brief summary of the plot, which so far is reading like some sort of campy Kung-Fu send up of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ meets ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Reason enough to give it a watch and then some but we’ll have to wait a while as its not due out until August. Synopsis: To protect their homeland from Japanese invasion, seven retired Kung-Fu masters are back in action to assist the local warlord (Sammo Hung...

Princess And Seven Kung Fu masters is the latest project from director Wong Jing (City Hunter) and will star kung fu legends Sammo Hung and Yuen Wah.
Plot
During the early years of the Republic era, in the North-East region of China, the people are suffering from the power struggle among the local Warlords, bandits, and Japanese invaders. Warlord Lam (Sammo Hung), is not a leader of great vision, but having a patriotic heart, stands firm in his own beliefs, despite the several solicitations and temptations from Japan.
The only ‘paradise’ within the region is ‘Lucky Town’, the one place where no one dared to attack. Rumors abound that this place is cursed, for whenever anyone attempted to invade Lucky Town, they would disappear and vanish without a trace. In reality, there are seven kung fu masters who have retreated into the shadows and resided here. They are Manysons (Eric...

“The Fortune Buddies” is the latest big screen outing from Tvb and Shaw Brothers, following up on their successful “72 Tenants of Prosperity” and “I Love Hong Kong”. Produced as usual by Eric Tsang and directed by studio regular Chung Sue Kie, who was also recently responsible for the comedy “Adventure of the King”, the wacky film revolves around Louis Yuen, Wong Cho Lam and Johnson Lee, famed for their Tvb comedy sketch program “Fun with Liza And Gods” as three down on their luck men who end up becoming wrestlers. As well as a supporting cast that includes Fiona Sit (“The Way we Were”), Maggie Cheung (“Punished”), Hong Kong veteran Pauline Wong and Tsang himself, the film unsurprisingly packs in a huge number of cameos, including, but not limited to Michael Tse, King Kong, Richard Ng, Lam Suet, Tin Kai Man and Bosco Wong. Louis Yuen, Wong Cho Lam and Johnson Lee play Fook Yuen,...

“The Jade and the Pearl” is the third release from the new Shaw Brother and Tvb television network team, and sees them this time tackling the enduringly popular period set romantic comedy genre. Directed by Janet Chun (“La Lingerie”, and the recent “La Comedie Humaine”), the film is unsurprisingly a who’s who of young talent from Tvb and the co-producing Emperor Entertainment, headlined by stars Raymond Lam, Charlene Choi, Wong Cho Lam, and Joey Yung. The film gets down to instantly recognisable business as the spoiled Princess Yan (Charlene Choi) accidentally meets the unknowing General Cheng (Raymond Lam) at a speed dating style matchmaking event. Inevitably, when the princess is chosen to marry the prince of the distant nation of Far Far Away, the general is given the task of escorting her through the wilds. Even more inevitably, after a touch of spirited banter, the two fall in love,...
