Exclusive: A musical stage adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, originally co-created in 2006 by Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical director Matthew Warchus, is headed to the English countryside.
The Shire of Middle-earth, the inland area inhabited by the hobbits and Bilbo Baggins, will be re-created at the Watermill Theatre to allow a cast of 20 actor-musicians to perform the musical in the open air.
The Watermill Theatre is located in Berkshire, a county adjacent to Oxfordshire, where Tolkien wrote his chronicle of the Hobbit universe’s Great War of the Ring. It will present a semi-immersive production of The Lord of the Rings that takes advantage of the venue’s picturesque setting on the banks of the River Lambourn.
Expect the village of Bagnor close to the town of Newbury, where the Watermill is based, to be overrun by Ringers and Tolkienites eager to see the show,...

Netflix released the new original film “Spiderhead” last week, but in addition to debuting a new thriller starring Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller, the streamer also unveiled a truly killer soundtrack of yacht rock staples – and you can see the full “Spiderhead” soundtrack list below.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Deadpool”), “Spiderhead” is based on a dystopian short story by George Saunders and takes place entirely at a facility called – you guessed it – Spiderhead. Run by Chris Hemsworth’s Steve Abnesti, this facility is host to prisoners serving long sentences who have agreed to take part in an experimental drug trial in exchange for more freedoms.
But as Teller’s prisoner character Jeff soon learns, there may be more than meets the eye when it comes to the true nature behind these experimental drug trials.

While the average person in the United States might be familiar with the illness known as post-traumatic stress disorder (Ptsd) and its prevalence among war veterans, it is arguably an 'invisible' illness (unlike the loss of a limb, for example) and therefore yet to be sufficiently addressed in society. This is a place where art can step in and attempt to render in artistic form the experience of those with Ptsd. Three Fingers, a short film directed by Paul D. Hart, is an effective representation of the nightmares and extreme stress that Ptsd brings to the sufferer, and how a 'normal' life becomes almost all but impossible.Jesstine (or 'Alabama') is a young Maine war vet, returned from the front with a non-physically debilitating but very visible...

There are a lot of nifty looking crowdfunding projects that pass through the halls here at Twitch. Plenty of those are worth your time, so why should Paul D. Hart's short film Three Fingers be of particular interest to you?First up, its focus on veteran's affairs, women in the military, and post traumatic stress is timely and fascinating stuff. Meanwhile, the filmmakers' approach sounds compelling. For starters we've got that evocative poster image to your left, and an informative pitch video, embedded below, setting a sensitive, somber mood. But what's the story you say? Set in the America South, Three Fingers follows Jessie, a female marine veteran of Afghanistan, as she navigates her disintegrating home life after her time in the war.Director Hart and actor/producer...
