The many worlds that Suzanne Somers inhabited — entertainment, entrepreneurship, politics — came together online today as news of her passing spread. She was remembered fondly by all for a remarkable life spent as a success in virtually everything she touched.

A lot of people were very upset when Brett Easton Ellis' novel "American Psycho" hit shelves in 1990. The book's hyper-violent scenes overshadowed much of its social satire, as concerned parties spoke out about the damaging effect the book was apparently bound to have on society. Tammy Bruce, then-President of the LA chapter of the National Organization for Women, went as far as calling it a "how-to novel on the torture and dismemberment of women."
Unfortunately for all its detractors, Ellis' novel has endured as a devastating indictment of 1980s yuppie culture and consumerist, wealth-worshiping society in general. Anyone who wasn't determined to be offended by the book was easily able to see the razor sharp critique of Reagan-era consumerism at its core and the humor that drove much of that critique. "American Psycho" is funny — darkly funny, but funny nonetheless.

The hosts of Fox News’ Outnumbered had a full blown hissy fit over a report that petting cats helps college students relax, with one host saying that the students need a “slap in the face” and another calling them “snowflakes.”
Study shows petting cats could be beneficial for alleviating stress in college students.

The Human Rights Campaign is demoting Fox Corporation from its list of top workplaces following Fox News’ coverage of Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill and LGBTQ+ issues.
Aryn Fields, Hrc’s senior press secretary, said that Hrc has deducted 25 points from Fox Corp.’s score in its Corporate Equality Index. Fox Corp. had been among the companies earning a “100 percent” rating as best places to work for LGBTQ+ quality.
Fields said in a statement, “Fox News has a history of sharing misinformation and disinformation about the LGBTQ+ community. We know from our own research, which we put out earlier this week, what their disinformation and misinformation means for the LGBTQ+ community: perpetuating stigma and marginalization of transgender and non-binary people.

Updated 8 Pm: After a mellow Twitter morning, President Donald J. Trump got warmed up in the afternoon with some Christmas jeering of California Gov. Gavin Newsom regarding the Golden State’s homeless crisis before blasting “crazy Nancy Pelosi” in his final tweet on Christmas Day.
After keeping a civil tone on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, Trump slammed the Speaker of the House over his recent impeachment.
“Why should Crazy Nancy Pelosi, just because she has a slight majority in the House, be allowed to Impeach the President of the United States?,” he wrote. “Got Zero Republican votes, there was no crime, the call with Ukraine was perfect, with ‘no pressure.'”
…& overwhelming,” but this Scam Impeachment was neither. Also, very unfair with no Due Process, proper representation, or witnesses. Now Pelosi is demanding everything the Republicans weren’t allowed to have in the House. Dems want to run majority Republican Senate.

Samantha Bee offered her two cents on the Tucker Carlson imbroglio currently engulfing Fox News on Wednesday, saying that the host’s old disparaging remarks towards women and Iraqis is probably what got him his job at the network.
“That is vile and disgusting and presumably the audition tape that got him a job interview at Fox,” Bee said during the monologue of her TBS show “Full Frontal. “Tucker Carlson publicly advocated a genocide while promoting his MSNBC show?”
On set, Bee played several of the most damaging moments from the Carlson audio released by Media Matters this week.
“I love women, but they’re extremely primitive. They’re basic,” Carlson said in one moment during his collected appearances on Florida shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge’s radio show.

Tucker Carlson, who refused to apologize on Sunday evening after old audio clips surfaced of the Fox News host making disparaging remarks about women and calling TV and radio personality Alexis Stewart “c–ty,” had a very different reaction to comedian Samantha Bee’s use of that word to describe first daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump.
During a May 31, 2018 airing of his “Tucker Carlson Tonight” program, Carlson called the word “actually degrading” and said he didn’t know of any man who would use such language. Carlson made the remarks during a monologue calling out Bee called Ivanka Trump a “feckless c—” on air on her weekly TBS show “Full Frontal.”
“That one word that [Bee] used. I don’t know any man who uses that word because it is kind of the one word that is actually degrading,” Carlson told radio host Tammy Bruce on his own show.

Pete Davidson has garnered some criticism after insulting a conservative politician who lost an eye during his military service on Saturday’s episode of “SNL.”
Davidson’s segment on Weekend Update kicked off with his first impressions of several midterms candidates, though he didn’t claim to be an expert on the races.
“After I had to move back in with my mom, I started paying attention to them,” he said, likely alluding to his recent split from Ariana Grande. “I realized there are some really gross people running for office this year.”
He went through Rick Scott and Peter King before arriving at Dan Crenshaw. Crenshaw, a former Navy Seal, is running for a House seat in Texas.
“This guy’s kind of cool,” he said over laughter from himself and Weekend Update co-host Michael Che. “You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate from Texas...

Condemnations are rolling in for Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson’s mocking a Gop House of Representatives candidate and war veteran’s eye patch.
The National Republican Congressional Committee is demanding an apology from NBC and Davidson for mocking Texas Republican Dan Crenshaw’s disability during a sketch last night. The Weekend Update diatribe by Davidson attacked various politicians and their alleged appearances.
Davidson, who compared politicans to a penis and a cigar, then joked about the former Navy Seal for wearing an eye patch. Crenshaw lost his eye during combat.
Crenshaw tweeted a reaction. “I hope @nbcsnl recognized that vets don’t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes.”
Nrcc spokesperson Jack Pandol also criticized Davidson, and referred to the comedian’s closing comments, wherein he briefly explained his recent split with fiance and pop superstar Ariana Grande.

“Fox & Friends” waded into the debate over a sexual misconduct allegation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Monday, with network contributor Tammy Bruce telling viewers that the whole situation had become politicized.
“This was exclusively a political act. It was effectively an attempted political assassination of a character, an attempt to use an experience like this as a cudgel,” said Bruce, speaking of Senator Dianne Feinstein’s decision to not reveal news of the allegation by Christine Blasey Ford, which she became aware of weeks ago.
“They want this to now be a trial in public by allegation and gossip and it really denigrates what we have tried to do for generations, which is to be taken seriously,” Bruce added. “For those of us who are survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, or violence in general, it really moves us into another arena of being just used and the experiences being used.

Chicago – Spending nearly two hours with Sarah Palin, midday on a Saturday, is a questionable use of time at best, especially when not an admirer of the half term governor and defeated vice presidential candidate. Producer Stephen Bannon creates an irony with the title of the Palin documentary, “The Undefeated,” but supporters don’t seem to notice.

An official trailer for Sarah Palin's highly-anticipated documentary, "The Undefeated", has been made available for viewing pleasure. Willow Palin made headlines with her now infamous homophobic slur, labeling someone who criticized Sarah Palin’s Alaska as a f**got, and it appears mom Sarah Palin may be trying to make amends with a surprisingly pro-gay tweet! The republican talking head, who has never really weighed in on most gay issues, retweeted on Jan. 3: “But this hypocrisy is just truly too much. Enuf already–the more someone complains about the homos the more we should look under their bed.”
The original tweet came from Tammy Bruce, a well known lesbian conservative talk show host. Given her daughter’s situation, it certainly helps that Sarah, who most would assume is perhaps not the most gay friendly of politicians, is...

Looking over Sarah Palin's Twitter feed is a somewhat ridiculous enterprise. Sort of like those medieval court physicians who would pore over the royal bed pans for clues as to the king's health. (That's really not a dig on Ms. Palin — most Twitter streams are pretty much sh*t).
But the woman does have a habit of making news with the medium. "Refudiate," "death panels" and more have climbed out of her fecund stream and taken over the public discourse.
Well now she's making a splash with a retweet...
To understand why this is newsworthy you'd first need to know that Tammy Bruce is an "independent conservative" Republican. She's a commentator and talk show host who is pro-gay, pro-gun, pro-choice and a lesbian.
The tweet in question was commenting on those awful videos by Navy Captain Owen Honors which spent an inordinate amount of time making fun of gays.

The Republicans took the House, but can they take Dancing with the Stars too? Palin-friendly groups are campaigning for Bristol to win — and they just might succeed!
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Dancing with the Stars has become far more of a popularity contest than a dance competition! Despite being one of the strongest dancers on the show, reality starlet Audrina Patridge was quickly eliminated because America didn’t vote for her. Now, one of the weakest dancers, Bristol Palin is heading to the semi-finals because she has an entire political party pulling for her — the Gop.
Although our Dwts insider assures us Sarah Palin isn’t the one campaigning to get her daughter votes, her millions of die-hard followers certainly are.
“Operation Bristol waltzes in tonight! As #Dwts starts vote at abc.go.com Tweeps pls tweet phone info, will Rt,” Palin activist Tammy Bruce...

Given Bristol Palin's survival on Dancing With the Stars-and Monday's tweet by conservative activist, author, and Palin supporter Tammy Bruce, notifying Palin loyalists to vote for Bristol on the show-left-leaning TV viewers might think so.
Week after week, Bristol has bested celebrities who have gotten higher marks than her, including Rick Fox and Audrina Patridge, landing her-and her supportive partner, Mark Ballas-among the top five contestants.
Last Monday, during the height of election fever, Bruce tweeted, "Operation Bristol waltzes in tonight! As #Dwts starts vote at abc.go.com Tweeps pls tweet phone info, will Rt.
