Adam Levine is stepping behind the camera. The Voice judge and Maroon 5 frontman is developing a comedy inspired by his childhood for NBC, EW has confirmed.
Kids in America, which was given a script commitment, will follow a teenager at the center of an unconventional family who has aspirations of becoming a rock star.
Family Guy’s Aaron Blitzstein will write and executive-produce with Levine, Jordan Feldstein and Josh Gummersall.

Minnie Driver is finally opening up about the identity of the man who fathered her three-year-old son, Henry Story Driver. And it turns out a clue may have been in her son's name all along.
Driver doesn't reveal his name, but tells the The Observer that Henry's dad is a writer ("story driver?") from her short-lived FX show, "The Riches." Driver starred opposite Eddie Izzard in the show which aired in the 2007-2008 TV season.
"I don't need to protect him any more," says Driver. "He can fend for himself. He's a grown-up."
"Sort of. He's figuring it out," she adds when asked if he's a good dad. "I mean, he hasn't been that involved; his choice. But he is now."
We're going to assume that Driver is not referring to "The Riches" creator and headwriter, Dmitry Lipkin, who along with his wife and writing partner also created Showtime's "Hung.
