- Connie Willis earned a B.A. in English from the University of Northern Colorado.
- Willis taught elementary school from 1967-1969, and later, for some years, she was also a substitute teacher.
- After temporary residence in other states, Courtney and Connie Willis settled in Greeley, Colorado in 1984. They named their daughter Cordelia.
- Willis is critically acclaimed and popularly beloved for narrating both tragedy and hilarious satire in a clear, intelligent voice.
- She published her first story, "The Secret of Santa Titicaca," in 1971, to the fairly (medium-ranked) prestigious magazine "Worlds of If".
