Director/writer: Christopher Roosevelt. Cast: Kayla Ewell, Richard Kohnke, Ashlee Brian, Brittney Alger, Sarah Butler, and Michael Welch. The Demented is a straight-to-dvd and Blu-ray outing from first time director Christopher Roosevelt and Anchor Bay Entertainment. This indie features borrows a lot of its material from zombie films like: 28 Days Later, the Dawn of the Dead remake and several others. Are these really zombies, though? The answer to this question is not totally relevant as Roosevelt chooses to focus on the action and stuntwork; characters and backstories suffer. In the end, The Demented is a flashy indie outing, which is meant as light entertainment. The film begins with six friends: Taylor (Kayla Ewell), David (Richard Kohnke), Brice (Ashlee Brian), Naomi (Brittney Alger), Sharley (Sarah Butler) and Howard (Michael Welch). They head out to a summer vacation spot. The cabin is more of a mansion and there are some unexpected visitors.

Nothing kills a horror movie more than a feeling of mundane repetitiveness. How many times have we seen “infection” movies about the end of the world? A billion – and it’s always the same set up. A bunch of college kids end up on vacation or together for some reason, disaster strikes, they get caught in the middle of some horrendous scenario where infected people are eating one another, and they try to escape. That’s the plan so many generic horror movies stick to – it never fails. Unfortunately for director Christopher Roosevelt, The Demented doesn’t deviate from that blueprint in the slightest, offering no memorable moments of creative interpretation.
The setting? Louisiana. The characters? A group of insanely good looking hardbodies you’ve seen here and there. The scenario? While vacationing at Howard’s (Michael Welch) rich father’s house, terrorists attack America using biological weapons that turn people into cannibalistic freaks.

The Demented from Anchor Bay Films starring Sarah Butler and Brittney Alger, has two new clips. Christopher Roosevelt directs the film which follows six college friends as they meet up for a carefree weekend in a beautiful rural home. A terrorist missile attack in a nearby town infects much of the townspeople with a deadly virus that induces rabies-like symptoms...with devastating consequences. Ravenous and fast, the infected townspeople turn their sights on the vacation home where the friends are gathered...and are now barricaded. How long can they hide? Even with the infected “sleeping” in the streets, can they make their escape? If so, to what?...

Like “The Crazies”, but more zombier, apparently is the idea behind Christopher Roosevelt’s “The Demented”. It’s a moderately budgeted horror movie, to be sure, but after viewing the trailer for the film, I have to say, it looks pretty decent, despite the barfingly generic opening (“Partaaaaaay!!!”). Of course, trailers are like that — they can sell a movie even when the movie is bad. I don’t know if Roosevelt’s movie is bad, but it’s definitely going on my “check it out if you have nothing else to do one Sunday afternoon” list. But hey, don’t take my word for it. See the first trailer for “The Demented” yourself. Your mileage (depending on how you approach these moderately budgeted horror movies) may vary. The clip develops the story further as the characters hole up together in, what looks like, a school. “There’s no trailer yet,” Butler, who starred in 2010’s I Spit on Your Grave and who in The Stranger Inside stars opposite Estella Warren (2001’s Planet of the Apes) and William Baldwin (Backdraft), said of the film, “[but] they had a sales trailer that I saw and went crazy about. It's gonna be so good! I'll let you know as soon as there's anything to report.”
Written, produced (with Michael Aoun and Paul Tilly), and directed by Neutzsky-Wulff, The Stranger Inside filmed earlier this year in Mallorca, Spain, as well as in Copenhagen, Denmark, and New York, New York. Jeffrey Pierce ("Fear Itself"), Kim Bodnia (Pusher), and Katia Winter ("Dexter") also star.

'Saw IV' scribe Thomas Fenton has been tapped for writing responsibilities on announced horror sequel 'I Spit on Your Grave 2'. The writer has officially joined the production with very little else at this early stage known about the project. The movie follows (or may even prequelise) the Steven R. Monroe directed 2010 remake of 'I Spit on Your Grave', based on the original - and brutal - revenge horror tale directed and written by Meir Zarchi. The remake starred the gorgeous Sarah Butler but its unclear at this point if she'll be involved in the sequel if indeed director Monroe will be returning. Butler herself can next be seen in Christopher Roosevelt's new horror thriller 'The Demented'...
