Kathryn Newton, who recently made her Marvel debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has a fallback plan teed up should the SAG-AFTRA strike drag on indefinitely.
The 26-year-old actress is also an accomplished golfer who helped her Notre Dame High School team win three championships. Though she turned down an opportunity to play for USC in favor of buffing an enviable résumé that includes Big Little Lies, Ben Is Back, Blockers and Freaky, Newton returns to the links as often as possible.
With a break in her schedule, she’s set to compete at a series of high-profile tournaments, including the Omega Masters in Switzerland (Aug. 31 to Sept. 3), BMW Wentworth Championship in London (Sept. 12), the Ryder Cup in Rome on behalf of the PGA & European Tour (Sept. 22) and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland (Oct. 12).

Last month, Golf.com reported that President Trump’s 2018 club championship at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, may not have been totally legitimate. Though a plaque at the club lists the president as the victor, the championship was actually won by a hedge fund manager named Ted Virtue. Trump didn’t even compete in the event, but when he ran into Virtue at the club on a later date, he challenged him to an impromptu nine-hole match for the right to the title. Virtue couldn’t not accept.

The Short Game
Directed by Josh Greenbaum
USA, 2013
If The Short Game is any indication, it’s hard work being a child in the 21st century. The hook of this new documentary is fairly high-concept—it follows eight of over 1500 golfers age 7 or 8 competing at a world championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina—and yet, as slick as it is, it’s hard not to feel both a bit depressed at the almost comically driven subjects and wistful for a relaxed childhood not centered around detailed workouts or tireless practicing.
Director Josh Greenbaum, from pretty much the first shot, teases a deeper exploration of modern childhood around the world while creating the most stylish, flashy package as possible. The pacing is, frankly, so quick that a longer film would be preferable. One hundred minutes just isn’t enough to get to know these kids outside of their surface-level defining traits. One...

Golfers love wine – after they are done golfing. While they are golfing, it’s beer. Those inconsiderate showoffs who can shoot in the 80s probably guzzle Gatorade, or Red Bull or something called “water.” Who cares what those inconsiderate showoffs drink, though?
Golfers love “Caddyshack,” too. Even non-golfers love “Caddyshack,” but let’s stay on the course. I was a golfer myself, once upon a time. I found that the “good walk spoilt” sentiment from Samuel Clemens was too true for me to continue. Reaching into the cooler on the golf cart was a lot more fun than reaching into my bag for a club. I tried carrying my bag, but if I’m to enjoy a walk in the grass, I don’t need a hundred pounds of clubs on my shoulder. Especially when I only use three of them.
And, to me, a walk...

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Justin Timberlake has helped organize a new advertising campaign for golf equipment maker Callaway, and the singer/actor is attempting to target a younger demographic with the commercials. The ad campaign will launch this weekend during the Farmers Insurance Open tournament outside San Diego, and golf pros Phil Mickelson, Annika Sorenstam and Alvaro Quiros will be featured in the spots. The pros will use Callaway products to perform stunts along the Las Vegas Strip; Quiros will be shown hitting a golf ball 310 yards over the Bellagio fountain, while others are shown hitting balls from rooftop to rooftop. "We wanted to make a statement that was more rock 'n' roll," Timberlake told the Wall Street Journal. Jeff Colton, Callaway's senior VP of global brand and product added, "Being hip and contemporary has to be part of the marketing plan" to attract new and younger golfers.

With a well-earned reputation as one of the greatest female golfers in history, Annika Sörenstam could surely afford help when it comes to caring for Ava Madelyn, her 6-month-old daughter with husband Mike McGee.
However, she tells Golf.com that the couple prefer to go it alone.
“We decided that we wanted to figure out things ourselves,” Sörenstam, 39, explains.
“It’s something that we’re obviously going to look into. But we really want to raise Ava ourselves.”
Noting the “24/7″ nature of parenting, the golf pro says that life with Ava has been “wonderful” thus far.

Days after welcoming their first child — daughter Ava Madelyn — former golf pro Annika Sörenstam and her husband Mike McGee are finally getting a dose of what their new life as parents has to offer. “It is Monday of Labor Day weekend and we are enjoying a quiet day at home,” Annika blogs. With the extended family — including the grandparents who were on hand to help with night feedings — having packed their bags and returned home, the new mama admits the couple are learning the ropes of parenthood completely on their own.
“There is no manual, DVD, or virtual aid on how to take care of little Ava, only common sense and lots of love.”
The first priority on the list has been adapting to their daughter’s schedule — something neither Annika nor Mike completely anticipated! “Despite all the warnings, I don’t think we realized how much there is to do with a newborn,...
