Lynyrd Skynyrd has canceled a performance during Republican National Convention festivities in Tampa, THR reports.
A number of entertainers are slated to add some fun to the Rnc proceedings, but the looming threat of Hurricane Isaac may put a literal dampener on the whole week. Lynyrd Skynyrd's show at Liberty Plaza, a party space near the event, which takes place at Tampa Bay Times Forum, has been scrapped. But the band may still perform at the convention itself, where its gig that was scheduled for Monday may or may not be added to the rest of the week's itinerary.
Other acts lined up to perform: 3 Doors Down, Kid Rock, Trace Adkins, Lee Greenwood, the Oak Ridge Boys (on national anthem duty), Rodney Atkins, Karla Davis ("The Voice") and Shannon Magrane ("Idol"). Willie Nelson, perhaps the biggest name in the bunch, is also taking part in a benefit for Got...

If you were one of the many viewers shocked and disappointed by the results show of The Voice last week, cheer up because your favorites stayed this week! Pop sensation and current coach on The Voice UK, Jessie J opened the results show with a performance of her hit single, “Domino” joined by Team Christina. Jessie J set the tone for a very satisfying night. The right dominoes fell tonight that is for sure.
Team Adam was first to find out their fate and the results were noticeably more satisfying than last week’s results show. Tony Lucca, Mathai, and surprisingly Pip were saved by America, forcing Kim Yarbrough, Katrina Parker, and Karla Davis to deliver a last chance performance, putting their fate in Adam Levine’s hands. Yarbrough has been a favorite of Levine’s but Parker is a favorite of mine, and Davis is a throwaway so the...

It was another action packed night on The Voice, as the results were handed out and four more singers were sent home. There were some contestants digging down deep to put on the performance of their lives.
There was also time for a quick performance by Jessie J with Team Xtina. Didn't they see that there was no point in brining the team on with the guest performer last week? They didn't do anything up there.
The only other negative from the night was the return of the awkward Sprint Lounge. At least this time Adam Levine mentioned how terrible it was, and hopefully they make some changes. I don't know what those changes need to be, but something needs to happen soon.
Now let's get to the results...
Team Adam
Safe: Mathai, Tony Lucca, Pip
I couldn't agree more with America on these choices, but what about the contestants in danger of leaving?...

"The Voice" aired its second live elimination show on Tuesday night, this time for coaches Adam Levine and Cee-Lo Green to eliminate two contestants each from their teams. Twelve contestants performed on Monday, but only four from each team could make it through to the next round.
For Team Adam, America initially voted to save Mathai, Tony Lucca, and Pip. That left Kim Yarbrough, Karla Davis, and Katrina Parker on the chopping block. Each woman sang in the hopes of getting Adam's final save. Kim sang "Spotlight" and Karla sang "I Can't Make You Love Me." It was Katrina's rendition of Gwen Stefani's "Don't Speak," however, that really rocked the house.
Cee-Lo, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton all said that they'd choose Katrina. Adam agreed. "Rather than have it be a long drawn out thing I'm not going to be emotional about this decision, I have to make the...

Were the right contestants cut (and saved) this week? Read our full recap & give us your thoughts! The second round of eliminations took place April 10 on The Voice, and with the performances being very disappointing the night before, the contestants really stepped it up to prove why they were in the competition to begin with -- even if it was a bit late. Jessie J started the night as the guest performer, eventually joined by Christina Aguilera's team, singing her hit "Domino." And then came the results: Mathai, Tony Lucca, and Pip were all saved by America on Adam Levine's team. This left Kim Yarbrough, Karla Davis and Katrina Parker to sing for their lives. Kim took the stage first, but her attempt was pretty weak. Karla sang next, but fell even farther than Kim. Before Katrina sang her No Doubt cover, you had to know Adam would save her.

For the first time on The Voice this season, the 12 contestants on Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green's teams found themselves at the mercy of America's votes. The coaches had high praise Monday night for Jamar Rodgers (Team Cee Lo), who performed Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way," and classic rocker Juliet Simms (Team Cee Lo), who took on "Roxanne" by the Police. At the other end of the spectrum were former model Erin Martin (Team Cee Lo), whose lackluster vocals on "Walk Like an Egyptian" left the judges unimpressed, and former Mouseketeer Tony Lucca, whom Christina Aguilera who called "one-dimensional.

Nothing like singing your heart out for one final chance at reality TV/singing stardom only to receive an unceremonious slap on the rump from Carson Daly that sends you down the gauntlet of potential anonymity.
But yep, this is The Voice, and that’s how the results-show telecasts are structured: America picks three out of six singers from each coach’s team to advance; the three vocalists in limbo grab their mics, one at a time, to try to earn a repireve; and then our trusty host brushes ‘em off the stage while a decision is made about which...

Another four bite the dust. This week was the second round of live performances on "The Voice" and that meant saying goodbye to two contestants from Team Adam and two from Team Cee Lo.
After the remaining members of Team Christina performed "Domino" with Jessie J, the three contestants were revealed that America saved from Adam Levine's and Cee Lo's teams. For Team Adam, the lucky three were 19-year-old nursing student Mathai, former Mousketeer Tony Lucca (who Christina had it out with on Monday night) and bow tie-enthusiast Pip. And for Team Cee Lo, rocker Juliet Simms, hipster comeback kid Jamar Rogers and Boston heartthrob James Massone were saved by America's votes.
Then, the bottom three on each team had the opportunity to sing one last time for their coaches to prove that they should be the one their coach would save from elimination. (For those familiar with "RuPaul's Drag Race,...

After last night's entertaining live show from the hopeful contestants on Team Adam and Team Cee Lo, we found who captured America's hearts enough to move on in the competition and who had to lay their souls on the stage in hopes that coaches Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green would come to their rescue. If there is a winner from The Voice this season from Team Christina or Team Cee Lo, the options are slim as the artists proved this week. There were definitely less standouts this week, or at least less phenomenal standouts. People stood out for the wrong reasons this week be it nerves, song choice, pitch, or any number of things. Not even a handful of vocalists came out as strong as they could have this week so results are going to be very nerve-wrecking tonight. Team Adam easily took the win last night with Juliet Simms being the only vocalist from Team Cee Lo to really kill it so between these two teams, the remaining artists really have to hope that the odds work out for them.

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton may have been the co-winners of the battle to deliver the best one-liner on this week’s episode of The Voice, but in a surprise turn of events, they lost the war of taking home Most Valuable Judge trophy to Christina Aguilera.
Oh, sure, Blake’s “I almost threw my panties on the stage” was a priceless response to James Massone’s lady-baiting rendition of “Don’t Know Why.” And Adam hit the bullseye poking fun at Blake’s consternation over a group of shirtless male backup dancers: ”I think that Blake just bought a one-way ticket to Boner Town.

Have you noticed yourself fast-forwarding through Adam Levine's critiques on The Voice and waiting patiently for Christina Aguilera to speak? Have you noticed that's an absolutely insane scenario? Because I'm doing it too. And I'm scared.
Christina Aguilera has become the show's least sympathetic and/or sentimental panelist. She's thoroughly genuine, and even if she doesn't reach the caliber of my favorite 10 reality judges, she's exactly what The Voice needs: unflinching truth-telling. I hope she keeps it up in the weeks to come. Not just because it's entertaining (How about when she smacked Down her former Mousketeer buddy Tony Lucca?), but because it heightens the show's stakes. Fear this dirrty, caterwauling diva, contestants.
The Voice's second week of live rounds proved to be a mixed bag ranging from towering renditions of rock classics to meek attempts at dated pop songs. Let's invade and grade 'em all.

The second week of live performances on "The Voice" (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Et on NBC) wasn't exactly riveting, but, as Carson Daly states at the start of the episode, we can count on Cee Lo "arguably one of the best performers in the world" to jazz things up.
And he does, putting stilts, light-up masks and shirtless Egyptians in his team's performances. Also, Purrfect reemerged, happily disproving our theory that she was used to make Cee Lo's wig last week.
Too dark for you? Just wait for Christina Aguilera to tear into Tony Lucca and for Tony Vincent's performance.

The Voice returned for part two of the Top 24, treating the audience to a couple of outstanding performances, a few horrendous ones, a one-way ticket to Bonertown courtesy of Adam Levine, and a cheap shot like none other from Christina Aguilera to Tony Lucca.
Let's get right to the action...
Team Adam - Katrina Parker - "Tonight Tonight"
Adam wanted her to get away from sounding like Adele. Well, no one was going to confuse her voice with Adele's here. This was a solid performance, but nothing I would write home about for the first performance of the night.
Xtina said Katrina's voice really captivated her, but wanted her to rock out more and said there were a few pitchy notes. Cee Lo loved the staging, and then rambled on about the Smashing Pumpkins. Adam thought she killed it.
Grade: B-
Team Cee Lo - Cheesa - "Don't Leave Me...

Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine's teams went head-to-head April 9 for a disappointing second round of the live shows. Was I watching the wrong show April 9, or were the majority of this week's performances on The Voice pretty forgettable? I found myself desperately waiting for a knockout performance, but had to wait almost two hours to get it. On team Adam Levine, Katrina Parker was decent. Then, power-house Kim Yarbrough sang Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," and while her big voice was ever present, her overall performance fell short of and didn't quite fit her. The coaches seemed scared to tell her that, so they gave it to her nicely. Mathai sang "Ordinary People," using her quirky unique tone to try to charm the coaches, but her performance was a bit more lounge-like than nationwide competition-worthy. Tony Lucca received praises from the coaches, but I almost forgot about him...

The battle round concluded this week on The Voice with a mixture of both outstanding and lackluster performances. The funny thing is, the artists who did not necessarily stand out during the blind auditions made a mark this week while the artists more favored let their nerves get the best of them. The coaches had to make some very tough and more often than not, shocking decisions as a handful of artists you may have been rooting for did not step up to the plate. The last of the battle round artists all have potential but taking account only their performance in the ring and what that can bring to the live shows… well, the eliminations were rough! But was the pain worth it? So far, yes. Together, the coaches have put together the most diverse teams we have yet to see on the series. It looks like the live...

I loved the first battle last night. Those were two great guys paired together, and of course it was sad to see one go. James Massone has that great “How do you like them apples?” personality, and that storyline of true Boston grit and his family supporting his pursuit of music. And then Wade stole my heart, too. When we met him, he was a real student of music, listening to his iPod the whole day, singing Al Green. A little glimpse behind the scenes: when James and Wade went to rehearse, neither of them could sing “True Colors” at first.

Vote fast for Team Adam, vote fast for X-tina
Vote for Blake Shelton, ’cause you know he’s not a wiener

Song: "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper
Coadge Cee Lo paired these two baby faces (not a reference to mentor Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, but rather to the fact that they both have prepubescent faces) together for "True Colors," because he's Cee Lo and he'll do whatever it takes to ensure that his battles are weird. This duo seems like a great match-up for an R&B duet,...

The Battles may be over, but the war goes on: The Voice will begin its live shows next week. There were pop stars, quirky vocalists or rapping MCs making up the final members of each coach's team. Let's take a look at who were the final hopefuls to get to The Voice Top 24...
Team Cee Lo - James Massone vs. Wade - "True Colors"
The Battle: James was extremely nervous in practice, but it didn't really come through in his performance. If anything, he was way more confident than Wade, who struggled with a couple of critical notes. This was definitely the case of one guy having the potential to be great but failing this week, and the other being steady but probably won't go anywhere in the competition. Wade has much more power and range, but James didn't screw up at all.

"The Voice" finally aired its last Battle Rounds episode of the season, meaning that the live shows begin next Monday, April 2, with elimination shows following them on Tuesdays. This week, the coaches finalized their teams.
Adam Levine had two teams left to battle. He paired Nicolle Galyon with Mathai for Sara Bareilles' "Love Song." Robin Thicke was Nicolle's celebrity mentor, and her general adorableness won him over in a big way -- he practically wanted to take her to the prom! He suggests that she focus on how "sweet" the song is.
That means that Mathai's celeb mentor was Alanis Morissette, who warns her to be herself and not to get ahead of the notes, giving each one time to play out.
Though Adam didn't particularly seem to love the battle, he and all the fellow coaches agreed that Mathai won out -- because of her breathing techniques, according to Blake.

The blind auditions came to an end Monday night on The Voice as each coach - Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green - finalized his and her team, landing 12 contestants each. First, though, came the shock of turning around and seeing Cameron Novack (aka Novacaine), who didn't make it on to anyone's team. He sang, (kind of) rapped and even beat-boxed a bit to Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know." "I did not expect you to look that way," Levine said. "How are you not a woman?" Fortunately, most of the other singers had better luck.

That was fun. After four weeks, five episodes and nine hours, The Voice has completed its season two Blind Auditions, and it was certainly a pleasant change from the bore fest that has become of other singing competitions.
Each coach rounded out his/her respective team, but Blake Shelton did it with the most style this week. Whether it was a joke about murdering Christina, or one about wanting Adam Levine in a sexual way, the country star had me laughing out loud on a number of occasions.
Check out our The Voice quotes page for all of Blake and the others' quips from the Blind Auditions.
Now let's take a look at the four teams, and who they added in the final round. We will start with the defending champion, who also had the best success rate when hitting his button this season.

The Voice contestant Karla Davis has said she has grown as an artist since she turned down the opportunity to sign for a major label. The acoustic country star told reporters on a conference call that she had secured meetings with several major labels in Nashville after taking part in a singing competition called the Colgate Country Showdown in 2009, but she didn't feel ready to go any further. "The judges for that competition were all from major labels that were based out of Nashville and I basically got a meeting with every major in Nashville with their A&R guys," she recounted. > The Voice's Karla Davis: 'I just wanted to stare at Adam' - video Davis added: "I literally had just started playing music, I had no idea what I was doing, and I was scared to death! I went into these meetings and honestly I didn't know enough...

The Voice contestant Karla Davis has joked that she was "worried" when Adam Levine turned around during her audition because she just wanted to stare at him. The acoustic country singer became a member of Team Adam on Monday night (February 20) after her blind audition performance of 'If I Die Young' by The Band Perry. Speaking to social media correspondent Christina Milian backstage, she said: "[Adam] is awesome. He gave me a hug. I was worried when he turned around because all I wanted to do was stare at him and smile!" She added: "I was nervous because it's a huge deal. It's 90 seconds that can change your life! After Adam turned around I was just doing my thing and trying to be as normal as I could." (more)...

They can’t all be winners. That old adage applies to the dozens of vocalists who’ve already appeared on The Voice‘s second season, but it’s also a fitting way to describe Monday night’s ho-hum episode.
Of the 14 contestants we saw advancing to the Battle Rounds, only two or three sounded like legitimate contenders to assume Javier Colon’s throne. But perhaps even more distressing, after four audition episodes, the show’s editors have settled into a predictable rhythm that makes it all too easy to divert some of your attention to folding laundry or sorting mail...

"The Voice" judges Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green proved as picky and discerning as ever on Monday night's fourth round of blind auditions. Several strong performers were turned away as the judges continued to carefully select the contestants they hope will go all the way to the finals — and in turn, win bragging rights for the last judge standing. And Cee Lo continued to inexplicably stroke a white cat during his to-the-camera interviews. "The Voice" is so weird and wonderful ... now, on to the show.

The fourth edition of The Voice's Blind Auditions was highlighted by a number of strong female vocalists. Naia Kete, Charlotte Sometimes, and especially Mathai had me intrigued from their first notes. Who did you think was the most impressive from this week's installment?
Two things from this week's episode need to be noted before getting to the actual auditions:
I will never get tired of watching Blake Shelton bow to the audience after making a comment they enjoyed Carson Daly aggressively cheering for every contestant to get picked while back stage with their families is the funniest thing about this show. I can't tell whether he is sincerely rooting for every single performer, or if he's just feigning it for their friends.
Now let's get to the teams, which are starting to fill up. With only one Blind Audition episode left, every team either needs two or three contestants to fill its squad.

I don't think I've ever seen a film more genre than this. A black and white homage to German expressionist movies, think Robert Wiene's The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Golgotha is Karla Jean Davis's labor of love, and wow what an imagination that girl has. I loved the Ott costumes, period captions, and especially Minion the goblin (Dianna Brown) with her cute pointy teeth and impish delight in everything evil. Golgotha is extremely original and a wonderful mix of cinematic techniques, but I did have trouble making it to the end of the movie. Despite the great look of the film, I found the story way too slow paced and I got bored. Also, the at-first-original- later-repetitive sound track drove me around the twist.

My thanks to the eagle eyed Avery for pointing the way to Karla Jean Davis’ Golgotha, the debut feature from Karla Jean Davis who has a few shorts under her belt and some may remember as one of the contestants on film making reality show On The Lot. In visual approach Golgotha is a serious minded homage to the German Expressionist films of the 20s, which is always a good thing in my books - it’s an approach that plays no small part in the ongoing success of Twitch fave Guy Maddin. In subject matter, though, Golgotha is considerably less serious minded, putting a bit of a comic spin on the supernatural horror films that the Expressionist movement produced.

Weirder and weirder, yes we do cater to the odd.. Golgotha is a silent film which looks like it's done all in black and white complete with crusaders, lipsticked men, and Amy Winehouse eye makeup. Furthermore, I recommend checking out the director, Karla Jean Davis. "An homage to German Expressionist silent films, GOLGOTHA is the memoir of an evil sorceress's life at the top...alone. It is a dark and stormy night. Through the wind and the rain, a soft light burns in an utmost castle tower, home of the dreaded sorceress Golgotha, whom time and tribulation have reduced to an old woman; a sickly shadow of her former glory. In her final hours, Golgotha is attended by the last of her loyal footservants, a goblin named Minion, to whom she recounts the days before she became a power-hungry sorceress. Her woeful tale reveals an obsession with a certain wooden-handled sword and---possibly,...
