Plaguers is a Sci-fi Horror movie that was initially released in 2008, some 12 years ago, but is being re-released in a “10th Anniversary Edition” through Wild Eye Releasing, and so I had a chance to sit down with it and see what it had to offer.
Directed and written by Brad Sykes (The Pact), Plaguers is the tale of a crew of sexy space pirates (yep) who hijack an Earth-bound fuel-transport ship, and, accidentally, an alien virus known as “Thanatos” is released, which mutates victims and turns them into demonic and starving monsters. The sexy pirates (yep) and the crew of the ship must band together in order to take out these undead, erm… plaguers, as the vessel approaches Earth.

Tom Sizemore has fallen pretty far from grace of late, but he's got a few fans on the Dread Central staff and we're definitely hoping to see the guy get his A game back. One of his current projects (not Celebrity Rehab) looks and sounds like it might be able to pull it off.
C.L.A.S.S., starring Tom Sizemore and now shooting in Los Angeles, is directed by Michael Phillip Edwards and written and produced by Sheldon Robins. The film co-stars Paige La Pierre, Jamison Haase, Randy Irwin, Dante Bosco, and Sam Daly. Here's the full synopsis courtesy of the official C.L.A.S.S. website:

Tom Sizemore and Paige La Pierre are entwined in the hunt for a serial killer in C.L.A.S.S. now shooting in Los Angeles. La Pierre starred in Neighborhood Watch and Plaguers . Here she plays a law student who takes Sizemore's criminology class. Both are soon on the hunt for a serial killer that has targeted their town. Naturally, there's something suspect about Sizemore's character... In the director's chair is Michael Phillip Edwards working from a script by Sheldon Robins. Dante Basco also stars alongside Sam Daly, Jasmine Waltz, Jamison Haase and Randy Irwin. Pics from the set can be found at Classthemovie.com - a website that strangely uses the lightsaber sound effect every time you scroll over selected tabs.

On just about every Friday night, when I was a kid, back in the days before Netflix (or illegal BitTorrents for all you criminals out there, you know who you are), my parents used to take me to the video store (this being their idea of active recreation, far be it from me to complain). No sooner would we get through the entrance way before I found myself in the horror and sci-fi/fantasy sections, face-to-face with a slew of low budget titles, never advertised on television, performed by actors who seldom (if ever) broke into major motion pictures, and helmed by directors who proved, time and time again, that creativity cannot be bought, but rather cultivated, with ambition and a fervent imagination.
In my formidable youth, sold on the elaborate (if at times cheesy) cover art these features put forth, I’ve managed to tantrum my way into watching...
