British tabloid The Sun has apologized for a column written by former “Top Gear” host Jeremy Clarkson in which he wrote he “hates” Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, on a “cellular level” and suggested she be made to “parade naked” through Britain while people “throw lumps of excrement at her.”
“Columnists’ opinions are their own, but as a publisher, we realise that with free expression comes responsibility,” the newspaper wrote in a statement published on its website on Friday evening local time. “We at The Sun regret the publication of this article and we are sincerely sorry.”
The statement added that Clarkson’s article had been removed from its website and archives.
The Sun is among a number of British tabloids that Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have had long-running enmity towards, with Harry launching legal action against the newspaper in 2019 over alleged phone-hacking.

In an age where Donald Trump can become President of the United States, it’s sadly fitting that English reality host Jeremy Clarkson had to flee to America to keep doing whatever the hell he wants. You see, the former “Top Gear” host’s contract wasn’t renewed by the BBC because of not one, but many controversial incidents involving the volatile “car journalist” (self-described), including accusations ranging from jokes about murdering prostitutes and imitating a Nazi salute to tossing around so many ethnic slurs it seems as though he’s offended every race and gender imaginable.
But what put him over the line across the pond was a March 2015 altercation with Oisin Tymon in which he allegedly punched the “Top Gear” producer for serving him soup and a meat platter instead of steak. Despite protests from fans (including a petition garnering over 1 million signatures), the BBC stood by their...

From 2002 to 2015, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May hosted and presented the popular BBC series “Top Gear,” and received much acclaim for their conversational, comedic approach to the series. But in 2015, the BBC announced it wouldn’t renew Clarkson’s contract after he verbally and physically assaulted “Top Gear” producer Oisin Tymon over a dispute at a hotel. Tymon filed a lawsuit against Clarkson and the BBC, prompting an apology from Clarkson and a £100,000 settlement. After Clarkson’s dismissal from “Top Gear,” Hammond, May, and executive producer Andy Wilman all left the program as well.

Top Gear will return to BBC Two in May 2016.
Chris Evans has signed a three-year contract to host two series of the revamped motoring show, each consisting of eight episodes.
Speaking to Pa, Evans hinted that the new-look Top Gear could be radically different from the old version, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
The three-presenter format could be ditched, because, as Evans has put it: "If there's three of you and you go and make a film together, suddenly you're doing what they did. Why would you do that? They were brilliant at it, [but] I'm not going to do that.
"They're the Three Stooges, they are the Bee Gees, they are that and I'm not, I'm me. I'm a solo artist at the moment, I'm on my own, so do I form a band or not?"

BT has said it didn't even consider bidding for Jeremy Clarkson's new motoring show.
Clarkson and his fellow former Top Gear presenters Richard Hammond and James May have signed up with Amazon Prime in a deal which includes a whopping budget of £160m - working out at around £4.5m per episode.
BT Sport and TV managing director Delia Bushell told The Guardian: "To be honest I didn't consider it. It just wasn't right for us."
She went on: "It's a fantastic franchise, but it made more sense for a global player like Netflix because Top Gear has huge Us revenues as well."
Clarkson was axed from the BBC's Top Gear earlier this year after verbally and physically attacking producer Oisin Tymon.
Chris Evans will replace Clarkson as the lead host, and has been backed by the show's departed producer Andy Wilman.

Bringing months of speculation to an end, Amazon Video announced today (July 30) that it has struck a deal with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May - late of BBC Two's Top Gear - to front a new motoring series, one exclusive to Prime subscribers.
ITV, Hulu and Netflix (perhaps the market leader when it comes to online originals) were all reported to be bidding for the boys, but in the end, it was Amazon's VOD service that came out on top - and of course, this isn't the first time it's revived a dormant BBC format, with the drama series Ripper Street also benefiting from Amazon's deep pockets.

The presenting duo arrived at the building earlier today (April 29), and also found time to pose for photos with fans.

The Top Gear presenter slots have prompted a great deal of speculation in recent weeks. Who will take on hosting duties when the BBC Two motoring show returns?
Now, it seems snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan has put himself in the frame.
"I'd love to have the Top Gear job," he told The Times. "I said to my agent when that job came up, 'I want it' - but whether I'm equipped to do it, I don't know."
O'Sullivan added that despite his desire to take on the role, he would not want to succeed Jeremy Clarkson, preferring to let someone else take over first.

Jeremy Clarkson axed: What does this mean for Top Gear?
The motoring series was pulled from BBC Two's schedule after Clarkson was involved in a 'fracas' with producer Oisin Tymon. The BBC later confirmed that they wouldn't be renewing his contract.
The decision not to air Clarkson's remaining Top Gear episodes didn't go down well with fans, and a petition calling for his immediate reinstatement had attracted over a million signatures prior to the BBC's decision to drop him.

'Top Gear' boss Andy Wilman has resigned. The 52-year-old executive producer has quit the show after his close friend, presenter Jeremy Clarkson, was axed from the series last month following a fracas with producer Oisin Tymon. It was first reported Andy was planning to quit the show in March after an email he sent to staff recalling fond memories of his time on the programme was made public, although he denied the rumour at the time. Bad news for Top Gear fans hoping for James May's return - he's suggested he won't be coming back to the BBC show.
The presenter has told The Guardian that he has no plans to continue working on Top Gear without Jeremy Clarkson, who was axed by the BBC after a 'fracas' with producer Oisin Tymon.
May said that he and Hammond appearing alongside a "surrogate Jeremy" would be "forced" and "lame".
"Me and Hammond with a surrogate Jeremy is a non-starter, it just wouldn't work. That would be lame, or 'awks' as young people say," he explained.
"It has to be the three of us. You can't just put a surrogate Jeremy in and expect it to carry on. It would be forced. I don't believe they would be stupid enough to try that."

Jeremy Clarkson's last 'Top Gear' scenes will be shown on the BBC later this year. Kim Shillinglaw, controller of BBC Two and BBC Four, said the unused footage, though incomplete, is likely to air this summer. She said: ''No way would I want the available material not to be seen by viewers''. The BBC dropped Jeremy in March following a fracas with 'Top Gear' producer Oisin Tymon. The row, which took place in a North Yorkshire hotel, was said to have occurred because no hot food was provided following a day's filming. After an internal investigation, BBC director general Tony Hall confirmed the TV host's...

Have I Got News for You's executive producer has explained that Jeremy Clarkson will host the show "when he's ready".
The presenter had been booked to appear on the BBC panel show later this month - in his first major television slot since being dismissed from Top Gear - but he pulled out last week.
Executive producer Richard Wilson has now told The Guardian that Clarkson chose not to appear because he didn't feel the time was right.

Jeremy Clarkson will not be facing police action over allegedly punching a producer. The former 'Top Gear' presenter was sacked from the popular BBC show last month after being involved in a ''fracas'' with producer Oisin Tymon - who he's alleged to have punched in an argument over a steak - and although his victim said he would not be pressing charges, the authorities claimed they still had to make ''routine enquiries''. Jeremy Clarkson may have been ousted but this DVD of Top Gear’s ill-fated Argentinian excursion will make the BBC a tidy sum in his absence
The BBC may have lost its golden goose, but Jeremy Clarkson will still be furnishing the corporation with politically incorrect eggs as long as there are hundreds of old Top Gear episodes to drip-release on DVD. Though the remainder of the show’s 22nd series was put on hold last month after Clarkson assaulted producer Oisin Tymon at a hotel, a home-entertainment release of last Christmas’s Patagonia Special has gone ahead as planned this week. Hopefully it’ll be enough to pacify the 1,050,531 individuals who scrolled past change.org petitions against Fgm, police brutality and animal cruelty to sign one demanding the reinstatement of a violent, entitled TV presenter.
