Marvel actor and all-around badass Frank Grillo is trading his crossbones for stars and stripes after joining the cast of Peacemaker Season 2 for DC. Grillo is lacing up his boots to play Rick Flag Sr. for the sophomore season of James Gunn’s superhero series, starring John Cena as Christopher “Chris” Smith, aka Peacemaker. Rick Flag Sr. is the father of Rick Flag Jr., played by Joel Kinnaman in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Cena’s Peacemaker killed Rick Flag Jr. in The Suicide Squad, leading me to think it’s time for revenge.
Before Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. appears in Peacemaker Season 2, he’ll debut in animated form in the upcoming Max series Creature Commandos. The monster-centric animated series revolves around a black ops team working for Viola Davis’s Amanda Waller.

Like Hideo Kojima and his collection of scanned celebrities, Taylor Sheridan is adding another star to his Paramount+ collection as Boss Level and The Purge franchise badass Frank Grillo joins the cast of Tulsa King: Season 2. The MCU alum boards the Sylvester Stallone-led crime drama as a series regular, playing Bill Bevilaqua, a Kansas City mobster interested in Tulsa. Is Grillo’s character trying to muscle in on The General’s territory? Who will tell him how much of a bad idea that would be?
Sylvester Stallone stars in Tulsa King as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mafia capo. After he’s released from prison, his boss unceremoniously exiles him to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a crew from a group of unlikely characters to help him establish a...

We had learned about an interesting horror project earlier this month titled Wolf Night, a werewolf movie set to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman. The film has been compared to both District 9 and The Purge… with werewolves… and Deadline brings us a big update this week.
The hot Platinum Dunes package has been picked up by Screen Gems, Deadline informs us, with Michael Bay and Brad Fuller producing Wolf Night for Platinum Dunes.
Will Honley and April Maguire wrote the screenplay for Wolf Night, but aside from the comparisons to the aforementioned movies, the plot is under wraps at this time.
Jonathan Liebesman’s directorial credits over the years also include Rings (2005), The Killing Room (2009), Wrath of the Titans (2012), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).
Will Honley recently wrote Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.

It’s been almost two years since we last reported on Steven C. Miller‘s werewolf movie Year 2,starring Frank Grillo. The filmmaker has offered recent updates on social media, teasing that the long wait for action werewolf carnage is nearly over and that it appears to have a new title: Werewolves.
The premise for Werewolves is described as “a supermoon event caused a latent gene to turn everyone exposed to the moonlight into a werewolf for one night. Millions died—and now, the supermoon is back.”
Katrina Law (“NCIS”) stars alongside Grillo as the brilliant geneticist, Dr. Amy Chen, who goes on a dangerous journey with Grillo’s character to saved loved ones, against a ticking clock.
That setup sounds like The Purge: Anarchy but with werewolves, and we’re so in.

This holiday season’s release of Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving is cause for celebration amongst slasher fans. It’s been a hot minute since mainstream horror audiences have been able to watch a wide-release slasher that feels gruesomely throwback *and* is based on a wholly original concept. Thanksgiving is a contemporary reinterpretation of cheesy 80s midnighters about masked killers and juicy, rubbery effects that hoists holiday horror back into the limelight. It’s also fair to speculate how Thanksgiving signals a possible shift in overall genre trends, but labeling Thanksgiving as the rebirth of the slasher subgenre is a bit misleading. Roth’s ooey-gooey ode to holiday horror with all the trimmings certainly sticks out in today’s horror landscape, but that’s only on surface-level evaluations.
Heck, it wasn’t even the only holiday-themed slasher in theaters this season.
Academics consider 1978-1984 the “Golden Age” of slashers, built on the backs of Black Christmas,...

Stephen Emery, a producer and film executive who worked for Gale Anne Hurd and Bill Gerber and on films featuring the likes of Clint Eastwood, Anna Kendrick, Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Eckhart and Liam Neeson, has died. He was 46.
Emery died Saturday in a Los Angeles gym after a workout, Big Swell Entertainment CEO Andy Horwitz told The Hollywood Reporter. He recently joined the production company that had launched in October.
“Everyone that had the pleasure to know Stephen Emery is heartbroken over the sudden loss of one of our own,” Horwitz said in a statement. “Stephen was much more than an invaluable producer, he was also an irreplaceable friend. His passion for film was outweighed only by his passion for life, and he lived every day like it was his last. We will miss his adventurous spirit, his loyal friendship and his genuine love for life. Rest in peace, brother.

Frantic campers scavenge a park ranger’s rucksack inside his abandoned jeep. A shipwrecked sailor drags their waterproof emergency kit ashore. Apocalypse survivors raid a hardware depot after zombies chase civilization far away. Three different horror movie scenarios, all adding a holy grail item to whichever characters’ arsenal. Maybe loaded into a chamber, possibly as a roadside marker, but in any form, someone hoists an invaluable and iconic illumination tool: the almighty flare. Spark it, blast it, or blaze it for instantaneous cinematic ferocity and alarm.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Night of the Demon
Not to be confused with the 1957 film of the same name (also on Screambox), 1980’s Night of the Demon is an unforgettable Bigfoot experience. It’s no surprise that the gory exploitation flick was prosecuted as a “video nasty” by the British Board of Film Classification upon its initial release. It’s best remembered for a scene in which Bigfoot rips off a guy’s manhood — and that’s not even the most outrageous death scene!
The cheesefest plays like an early slasher, but instead of a masked killer lurking in the woods, it’s a guy in a cheap gorilla costume.

At its best, horror seeks to move us, entertain us, scare our pants off and elicit similar kinds of thrills as roller coasters do. But for those that aim a little higher — no, not in an "elevated horror" sort of way (whatever that means), but simply in terms of ambition — there's also an added responsibility to sneak in some clever observations about our world that we've generally taken for granted, done in ways that other genres simply aren't capable of accomplishing. In other words, with copious amounts of blood, guts, and gnarly kills.
When a particular movie or show manages to hit all those pleasure centers in our impressionable brains, it elicits the kind of cathartic responses found in something like Jordan Peele's deeply provocative "Nope." When an otherwise promising piece of horror media stumbles in that pursuit, well, let's just say that things can go sideways pretty quickly.

"I have quite the weekend in store for you…" Paramount Movies has unveiled an official trailer for a freaky horror thriller Margaux, the latest bland creation from B-movie action director Steven C. Miller. Yet another new "Artificial Intelligent turns against people" uninspired thriller, especially one that's about a smart home that turns deadly (why this again?). A group of college friends rent a smart house for a weekend of partying. Later, they start to realize that "Margaux", the house's super advanced AI system, has sinister designs for them. The cast features Madison Pettis, Vanessa Morgan, Richard Harmon, Lochlyn Munro, Jedidiah Goodacre, Phoebe Miu, Jordan Buhat, Brittany Mitchell, and Louis Lay. This is another of these "how does this junk keep getting made" kind of movies. It looks so cheesy and forgettable. ›››

Dave Bautista might be a reasonably big name in Hollywood these days with a plum role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Drax under his belt along with appearances in big budget blockbusters Spectre and Blade Runner 2049, but having made the decision to transition from the squared circle to the silver screen when he was already in his 40s, the former WWE star had to start from the bottom and work his way up.
Bautista’s first two leading roles came in bargain basement actioners Wrong Side of Town and House of the Rising Sun, before he showed up to lend support in The Scorpion King 3: Redemption and RZA’s kung-fu B-movie The Man with the Iron Fists. In a recent Instagram post, Sylvester Stallone has sensationally slammed last year’s Escape Plan 2: Hades as “truly the most horribly produced film I’ve ever had the misfortune of being in.” What makes this even more incredible is that Stallone used his bashing of the movie to promote the third installment of the franchise, which is set to be released on home video in a matter of days.
The first Escape Plan finally saw Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up on the big screen, and that novelty factor resulted in the pic earning almost $140 million at the box office. Aaron Eckhart is set to topline Wander, a conspiracy thriller which Below Her Mouth helmer April Mullen is directing from a script by Tim Doiron. Shooting is slated to begin this June in New Mexico. Mullen and Doiron are producing the pic alongside Andre Relis of Vmi Worldwide and Chad A. Verdi of Verdi Productions.
The story centers around Arthur Bretnik (Eckhart), a mentally unstable private investigator, who, after being hired to probe a suspicious death in the small town of Wander, becomes convinced the case is linked to the same ‘conspiracy cover up’ that caused the death of his daughter.
Vmi Worldwide, which has worldwide rights for the film, will present the project to buyers in Cannes.
Eckhart, who will next be seen in Roland Emmerich’s historical actioner, Midway, and the Steven C. Miller-directed thriller, Live!, is repped by CAA and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof & Fishman.
